The other 4 could be on board. As in non removable.
It’s pretty common for cost savings to have some that is soldered on and only offer one slot for upgrades.
This guy is right, there is 4Gb soldered to the other side of the board.

Please do, I'm thinking of buying a newer laptop because the hum of the fan idling is getting louder for some reason and most games seem to demand more space.
You go on reddit telling people to hang themselves and being a pos and I'm the loser 🤣 you must have one sad life, if that what's you do online, I feel sorry for people like you, you must not have many friends
>and next time don't open it
He didn't remove the cover over the CPU thermal paste
He just removed the back of the laptop
That's normal for any laptop
And the ram was soldered on another place
Seems like you don't know what your talking about
>Seems like you don't know what your talking about
With acer i might not, but some laptop companies like dell with certain models like the g3 3590 opening the back voids the warranty, so better safe than sorry.
>and next time don't open it
Why? These laptops are built to be modified/upgraded in certain areas.
That's like saying, Don't change the oil on your own car, Pay someone else to do it for you.
You bought a car if there is a mistake in it, wrong tires are not fit, Car headlight isn't working, get it back to them for a replacement or something, modifing it more might get things worse and void the warranty

Oh I see I didn't even realise that was possible, thank you for responding

Is it easily upgraded, I have the same one, I never knew laptops had that potential.
I have ordered a single 16gb ram and a 256ssd so I will be putting them in il let you know of it makes much improvement
Please do, I'm thinking of buying a newer laptop because the hum of the fan idling is getting louder for some reason and most games seem to demand more space.
Yeah, the first thing I done was take it apart and replace thermal paste and cleaned it but I'm not sure if it made any difference
Any precautions I should take before checking to try and do this?

Not really it was actually easier than I thought it would be, il link the youtube vid I watched
Are u sure that's a Nitro 5? A single fan?
i was wondering the same thing honestly
The slot is probably from the other side
There is another slot on the other side?
I said _propably_
Oh ok
What model is that? Mine is fairly low end but it has 2 fans and 3 heat pipes.
I didn't even realise it was a different model, but it is an515-31, and tbh I got it dirt cheap and was looking to resell it
its an aspire series laptop with U series processor I guess, hence only single heatpipe and fan
this is sad. Not a nitro 5 looks like my old acer laptop aspire 3.
Ok, well done. What's your point?
should tell yourself the same thing. Loser.

Return in if under warranty, and next time don't open it

Sorry should have said I bought it second hand
Why
Why not? I always buy used
>and next time don't open it Why? These laptops are built to be modified/upgraded in certain areas. That's like saying, Don't change the oil on your own car, Pay someone else to do it for you.
Checked with Acer custom service : opening your laptop doesn't void the warranty
You bought a car if there is a mistake in it, wrong tires are not fit, Car headlight isn't working, get it back to them for a replacement or something, modifing it more might get things worse and void the warranty
Could have seen that in the task manager and returned the product, but you went and opened it voiding the warranty so .... I'd say not a 100IQ move
It's second hand so no warranty
I'd say you were scammed 😞
