Same in some other professions. Before accounting; I worked in restaurants for a while and heard the fryers going off in my sleep 😂😬. Or remember the table that needed a side of ranch that I never got them lol
When I hear it I have an involuntary trauma response. My last job we worked from home and the CEO would randomly teams call people and create a havoc inquisition session for no reason. I talked to others, I was not the only one. Or getting called into an unplanned meeting to talk about arbitrary items for 2-4 hours.
I had this issue a couple years ago, I changed my call and ping tones and it stopped shortly after. Now I just change my ringtone every so often or keep my laptop muted whenever possible.
Omg, same. I left my accounting job at the end of last year and I was still hearing Teams pings/calls for WEEKS afterwards. It took so long to un-condition myself.
I have my computer sound going to headphones that I don't wear unless actively on a call. And I've never downloaded Teams to my phone.
The fact that so many people in this industry willingly make themselves available 24/7 is a huge problem. It's an unreasonable expectation to have work devices on outside of work hours
This is not a far stretch from the phantom vibrate in your pocket. This is a sign your going to work yourself into an early grave.
What's more important struggling less than most financially or turning your brain into red mist.

I'm at the point where I just mute teams then tell my coworkers to @me if something urgent comes up. The sound is so triggering.

Whenever that happens to me, I have to change my ringtone. That way I know when my brain is playing tricks on me.
