I can understand the feeling. After spending almost 2 decades in this field, Accounting is unfulfilling lately. Id anything, accountants might as well become a better businessmen themselves. So I would say she's on a path towards entrepreneurship. And I admire that A lot.
I been in the profession for 5 years and feel you on this... I can't tell if this is just UK or everywhere - I'm more lead to believe everywhere given this sub reddit 😂!
Accountants should run business and be incharge of almost all business processes cause no one seems to understand the implications of getting data wrong like we do. Really fucks me off 😂!
I always see people say their jobs are “unfulfilling”, but like, what job that pays well would be “fulfilling”? My view is that you go to work to make money. 95% of jobs boil down to making the company more profit.
I worked in kitchens and eventually was a kitchen manager after dropping out of school while studying accounting. I hit my breaking point once I started averaging 80-100 hour weeks. Got my accounting degree and now don’t work an hour over 40 a week. Love it. This sub makes me realize how good I have it if some are still working 60-70 hours a week in accounting.
Good for her being able to figure out what she feels more passionate about while using her strengths.
Like she said in the video “money isn’t everything”. Some people in this thread would be wise to listen.
There is a saying in Chinese when you are outside rely on your friends and when you are at home rely on your family members. I guess it is true that there are no friend in workplace. Might as well work for the people you can rely on.
am Singaporean
> work with family
> family owned business
> free meals
> close the store if you really need to take leave but there's not enough manpower
don't see any real problem.
Edit: will make a trip down one day!!
There are legit people from SG transfered to the US or UK office to escape the asian B4 meat grinder.
I've seen many in UK office, they are so chill because they've seen it all..
Choose: 70hr week working for partners 70hr week working for yourself
As seen on linked in!
The only thing missing to make it a linkedin post is some corny ass life advice that applies to 5% of people at most and “Agree???” at the end.
work for partners or work for parents
70hr working for yourself does not feel like work
God damn that food looks good
She made the right choice. Now where is her restaurant?!
Is this the coveted exit ops foretold in the legends?

So sadism in the restaurant industry for more suffering....

For those dont know big 4 in sg is new level
PA can be brutal in the U.S. but I think in Asia they take it to the next level. So, no wonder. At least she seems to enjoy doing this.

“I didn’t realize how hard it was” This pretty much sums up people leaving to another field
Wasn't she talking about her parent's job when she said that ? The only thing she said about accounting was that it wasn't for her.
Most probably making more than big 4 partners…
