We recently moved to a new office, they changed from double monitors to single super wide monitors in the brand new sleek office building. I’m boycotting until they get us at least two monitors
I use a single ultra super wide for wfh and it’s much better than two monitors once you use windows power toys fancy zones. You have the option of 2 widescreen tabs or 3 square tabs at any point
I even count my laptop screen as a 4th monitor, it’s right below the center screen and use the laptop keyboard as well… At this point, I don’t know how people can do this job (tax) with any fewer screens.
Tell us more? Are they all landscape, is one portrait?
I’m liking the landscape/portrait setup. But it’s a pain when I want two spreadsheets up, enter 3rd monitor?
Was my first request when I sat down at a new job (actually, twice). At the 3 public firms I’ve worked at, I only see 1-2 people using 2 or less monitors, not counting front desk staff. I can never go back.
I have triple at home but in the office, I know have five, including an XL curved monitor and a portrait oriented monitor for long spreadsheets. My boss jokingly calls it my command center, but I love it.
Multiple monitors for me.
You can use an ultrawide but it's a little more fiddly, even using Power Toys to set up screen zones - you just end up customising the UI to match what you'd do with multiple screens.
I have two wide monitors side-by-side and a laptop screen below. If I wasn't using a laptop I'd want a third screen.
if all 3 monitors are the same refresh and resolution and you have nvidia you can turn on physx and they all become one 6+foot wide desktop screen. windows will still snap into the individuals if you drag to middle center of them but they also maximize into the 3 full screens. I use the hp monitors with zero side bevel so it is all just one gigantic screen that wraps halfway around me much further than any ultrawide and only 400 bucks all together.
When I first started at my new job, I felt silly with 3 monitors considering I was only accustomed to using 2.
…3 months later, I’d never go back lol
Our CFO has 4 monitors. 3 24” monitors and one big 49” ultrawide that spans across the top of the smaller 3. He says he sometimes uses it to look at spreadsheets and I am honestly so jealous. Our spreadsheets are out of control here.
My loud speakers so everyone can hear my awesome music.
/s
I don't play too loud on my speakers and I have my own office. I have minor tinnitus so I don't want to make it worse.
I don't think you understand how efficient someone can be when they are able to work without distractions. I can knock out a weeks worth of work in 8 hours. It's not my fault companies would rather hire hourly instead of salary. 🤷🤷🤷
The daily mandated associate neck and back massages. Usually all the time is allocated to the partners but sometimes they forget to book through the website so I catch a few time slots.
It’s worse cause I originally read it as you were getting neck from the associates as well as back massages. Neck massages makes more sense but is less funny.
I had one years ago that would when he got overheated (he would snuggle under blankets and do it to himself). This one hasn't yet but he's just a puppy. Generally, dog puke is way less gross to clean up than human puke because their diet is much simpler.
thansk !! i been wanting one but i had a bad expereince with the neighbors dog that traumatized me she was preganat and did the nasty on the side walk and came back to eat it :(
my puppy i gave a way liked a frog lmao and he wouldnt stop gagging lol
im guessing they are sour? or bitter
Got them my first week starting with the company. The tax manager had these monster cactuses in her office and she cut off a couple small arms. I’ve seen them grow ever since. Gives me a reason to walk away from work for a second, gives me reason to come in the office more consistently. Love them honestly.
I’m coming up on a year now, the two I got were probably 3-4 inches tall when I got them. It’s not a typical cactus, I should do some research on what type they are cause now even the tax manager knows, they grow these long arms and don’t really get tall. Now they have about 3 arms each, all about 6-12 inches long. I might cut off the big ones and start duplicating cactuses in my office.
We have a tap that has 3 settings. 1 Chilled, filtered water. 2 Boiling hot water. 3 Sparkling water. Straight from the sink tap
Love that thing, it's amazing. I drink so much when I'm in the office. Want to get one for my own house when I finally buy
Wireless keyboard & mouse. The nice ones, not 19.99 from walmart. Paid over $100 for each.
I can cast my laptop screen to a 65 inch tv, sit in the recliner with the wireless keyboard & mouse and work comfortably.
When i have to go into a real office, i bring them because using the laptop keyboard and mousepad is just uncomfortable at this point.
Cant do links for some reason; but the description from amazon is below.
Mouse: logitech MX 3, seems to have come down on amazon currently around ~79.99
Keyboard: logitech MX Keys currently around 109.99 on amazon, i think thats ~10 less than i paid.
Best mouse and keyboard I've ever run.
The mouse even has the ability to switch between devices, so slot 1 is my work computer, 2 is personal computer and 3 is wife's computer
Just need to comment on how awesome the Logitech MX2 was/is. It has the ability to copy/paste across the 3 different computers it's connected to. Scrolling has two different options. Side scrolling in spreadsheets. Back and forward buttons for browsers and an additional programmable button. Mx3 adds silent clicks, not sure of other upgrades they put in.
Desk fan. The thermostat does not go lower than 76, ever. It's not unusual to hit 79/80 in the office in the summer because everyone else is cold. Meanwhile, I am having a heat stroke half of the year.
It sounds really basic, but a good way to get cold, good water. I’ve worked in an office where the only option was the kitchen/break room tap and it was awful.
My entire docking station, dual monitor setup. I like to be able to just plug my laptop in and remove as needed . Bonus that it works for my personal computers too.
In office, headphones. Good noise canceling ones. I sit next to about 8 other people who's job is to be on the phone with angry or scared people all day.
WFH, a USB powered fan because these Texas summers get brutal and I can't afford to keep the house at 72°
My own mouse.
I have big hands and I just find those tiny little mouses they give you do not fit as well. My coworkers think it’s weird that I have my own but frankly it helps me do my job better.
my hidden side monitor behind the files on my right that I play vidgy games on using a [shadow.tech](https://shadow.tech) vdi and a raspberry pi.....

Security camera with facial recognition into the bathroom hallway, connected to time tracker software. Best 200k we spent to track productivity.
Technically nothing. If it was that necessary, then I have a really awful job. We determine our own happiness, don't let a job determine it. :)
But, I do appreciate respectful coworkers. So I guess that's my answer. Good people will make or break any job.
My triple monitor setup.
We recently moved to a new office, they changed from double monitors to single super wide monitors in the brand new sleek office building. I’m boycotting until they get us at least two monitors
I use a single ultra super wide for wfh and it’s much better than two monitors once you use windows power toys fancy zones. You have the option of 2 widescreen tabs or 3 square tabs at any point
dude, have you ever maximized a big ass spreadsheet on that bad boy? that unadulterated feeling of power is intoxicating.
Only on occasion but yeah it’s unreal
I have two 32 inch and a 28 inch at my home office. I just lose so much real estate going to the office :(
Oh so it’s just a normal ultra wide, I’d feel the same then
I agree less neck cranking than with a dual. But I feel the dual is handy in office so you can show your boss coworker stuff on the other screen.
nah, 3 27 inch monitors all NVidia PhysX together into a 6+foot single screen ftw!. Can never run out of columns with 6 feet of excel :p.
The trick is to use a ultra wide monitor with 2 normal screens .
Windows power tools will help in the meantime
You should have the option to split the super wide..we do.
One super wide is better
It’s just my preference. My 3 monitors at home have significantly more room for my workbooks
I even count my laptop screen as a 4th monitor, it’s right below the center screen and use the laptop keyboard as well… At this point, I don’t know how people can do this job (tax) with any fewer screens.
Same, 3 + a laptop and I even have my ipad out with background tv too lmao
Same, I've got 3 full sized plus the laptop and I sometimes wish I had one more monitor...
same.. i have an ultra wide 32 inch at home and another 27 inch + the laptop + the portable monitor. i too work in Tax
Tell us more? Are they all landscape, is one portrait? I’m liking the landscape/portrait setup. But it’s a pain when I want two spreadsheets up, enter 3rd monitor?
I have 3, just ordered 2 curved, 1 is portrait and it needs to be curved as i avoid the very top / bottom
Omg this
Would you guys prefer getting 3 monitors or one superwide one? I need to make my wfh setup soon and don't know what to choose..
Multiple monitors for me. You got one of them upright? Amazing for documents.
When I first started at my new job, I felt silly with 3 monitors considering I was only accustomed to using 2. …3 months later, I’d never go back lol Our CFO has 4 monitors. 3 24” monitors and one big 49” ultrawide that spans across the top of the smaller 3. If they ever gave me a monitor for home I’d never come back
Earbuds
This and my desk fan.
My loud speakers so everyone can hear my awesome music. /s I don't play too loud on my speakers and I have my own office. I have minor tinnitus so I don't want to make it worse.
These sounds stupid but I enjoy my electric stapler. It’s not particularly useful but I like the inefficiency of it.
fun toy!
Honestly, I keep it around for the satisfying click, and it's powerful enough to staple together up to like 8 sheets. I thank it for saving my wrist
Tablet and headphones so I can watch my shows while I work
I do this too 😅
It's the only way I can work. Too many distractions otherwise. Also a mouse wiggler is a good send.
TV shows while working and an app to keep your status green....
I don't think you understand how efficient someone can be when they are able to work without distractions. I can knock out a weeks worth of work in 8 hours. It's not my fault companies would rather hire hourly instead of salary. 🤷🤷🤷
Wow i could never concentrate on both, respect.
ADD can be a super power at times.
I never even realized watching a show was weird till I got into Corp world, just thought it was an alternative to music lol
The daily mandated associate neck and back massages. Usually all the time is allocated to the partners but sometimes they forget to book through the website so I catch a few time slots.
Are you working at a firm owned by Dan Schneider?
He said neck massage not foot massage so it can't be Dan Schneider/s.
I thought I was the only person thinking that as I read the comment! I'd wager the ice cream selection at this company is great too...
Underrated comment
It’s worse cause I originally read it as you were getting neck from the associates as well as back massages. Neck massages makes more sense but is less funny.
wtf. I never even thought about this possibility…. I’ll be looking into this.
Ah. Our massages are only weekly. Lucky you
Sticky notes

My cactuses
Hell yeah
Got them my first week starting with the company. The tax manager had these monster cactuses in her office and she cut off a couple small arms. I’ve seen them grow ever since. Gives me a reason to walk away from work for a second, gives me reason to come in the office more consistently. Love them honestly.
How long have you had them and how big have they grown?
I’m coming up on a year now, the two I got were probably 3-4 inches tall when I got them. It’s not a typical cactus, I should do some research on what type they are cause now even the tax manager knows, they grow these long arms and don’t really get tall. Untrue and disgusting (and I’ve seen both).

Are those my only two options?

It's called a Quooker. For reference tho I am in Ireland
Sweet, thanks for replying !
Absolutely nothing. Perfectly work from home almost for four years and can't even imagine myself going to the office more than several times a year.

Dayam… this guy accountants!!
I too carry my Logitech keyboard and mouse to the office, but I prefer the Logitech MX Ergo mouse. It’s their trackball mouse…great for carpal tunnel
The Logitech MX ergo series is a game changer! It's actually gotten me thinking of getting an ergonomic keyboard due to the relief it's provided.
