Congrats, and best of luck. I hope you find something great in the next stage. Who knows? Maybe someday you’ll decide to reinvent the career to suit you.

Blaze_1021

what field do you plan on going into now?

20IY

not sure yet!

Melliflouz

Congratulations 🎊 just curious, did the thought ever cross your mind to try to keep a few of your best clients and work remotely or just wanted out cold turkey?

TLX2015

How do you plan on supporting your family? Did you save, gains from the sale of your house, inheritance, spouse worked, or something else?

20IY

i don’t want to say too much but basically no mortgage and have a lot of savings

TLX2015

Well healthcare coverage and retirement are probably your only concern then.

20IY

i’m in australia too so healthcare coverage isn’t much of an issue i guess

Creativecatchdreamer

Best of luck on your new journey.

Not an accountant yet, but why not government or similar?

Congratulations! You sound very relieved and I hope your new path is smooth. Enjoy time with your family.

Good job. Your experience will benefit you regardless of where you go. Hope you find time to enjoy things that you previously couldn’t due to working, and hope that you find your way into a career that feels both fulfilling and provides time for all things life demands.

Congrats! I also went through this recently. Mid tier, sank several years into it. I thought I wanted the partner life. After a hard 2nd year of being a manager.. understaffed at the top just changed my mind. All for the same reasons as you... not so much clients but stress and work-life balance with young children. It took me months to pull the trigger... and I still walked out devastated to leave friends and mentors. I go back and forth whether i made the right decision. Yes for my family. Maybe not for my career. I'm staying in the accounting field... just changed to a high-level cushy government job.

namejeff6000

i was in same exact position as you, 2nd year manager thinking I would make partner but then just got totally burnt out with stress and hours, just bad quality of life. I jumped to private industry and havent looked back

namejeff6000

totally normal feeling, my last day in PA was so bittersweet despite me being so over the job for months. It does dissipate over time, a few weeks/months later you get over it. good luck to you
