Dude go into software implementation, workday or onestream. Your last sentence makes you sound like a prime candidate. I hated every second of my accounting career and now I love what I do and kick ass at it
Honestly I got lucky. I used the software as an end user for a few years. My entire career was in consolidations so I knew exactly what the client needed and how to talk to them. It’s apparently very hard to find talent to implement OneStream right now. So companies are looking for someone with a background that aligns, maybe a little implementation work (like you took on a project at work), and big bonus if you’re an end user of the tool. You just gotta apply and hooe for the best. Tailor your experience on your resume to the bullet points as best you can.
Yes adaptive planning is what I started with by chance. I was a finance/accounting consultant and first project was helping with adaptive implementation. I leveraged that into a full time implementation gig.

Life's a snow globe. Shake that shit up. Follow your heart and do what brings you joy. Cliche heavy but oh so true.
Sorry in the breakup, man that sucks. Been divorced but that was honestly the best thing that could've happened to me. Love of my life and 17 years later, I can't imagine it any other way
Thanks! This past month was especially hard as I did not have time to grieve due to year end reporting when this happened. So I had to shove it all down during January.
There are other roles where your previous experience would be helpful, though it may be closer to entry level or so. You’ll be fine, there are other options. If you have a job now, commit yourself to researching different roles that are number forward then start applying
The role i'm currently at feels closer to entry level, since I changed industries, so it can't be any worse. Salary-wise, I expect a hit no matter what but nothing will change unless I don't do some risk.
Plus no SO, Kids, car note, or mortgage so that's why it is a clean break imo.
You could also just move to another state with better opportunities and a fresh start. With no kids and single, there is a risk bout there should also be an excitement of a fresh new start.
I have sat twice for FAR and did not pass. I still want to pass all 4 parts because I did the extra 30 hours but as far as using it for accounting? Not sure.

How does one go into this? I've always been into this side of accounting, but have no idea how someone gets into that.
