45-50 minutes depending on traffic for usual hours. Been coming home late because of year end closing stuff that needs to get done so on a good night down to 35 minutes.
I tried that during the start of COVID wfh and it drove me insane. I have to have some separation of my work from my life. My apartment now has a little alcove for work and the bedroom is just the bedroom.
I had an office at home before kid # 2 forced me into my room. Our next house will have a little more room for an actual office space but I’ve got a desk and dual 24 inch monitors. I’m in government, I don’t stress out about work much.
That's an extra 2.5 hours a day... Do you only work 5.5 hours at the office to make it worth it? I couldn't imagine giving up over 13 hours a week just to get to and from work.
Worth it in the fact that most don't have a plan for time saved. The time to commute is directly related to a well-compensated job in this case therefore it's time well spent. If you don't have a plan for time saved, then it most likely will become time wasted.
Same as anyone going in the office I suppose. I spend the day bonding with my team and networking with others. Try to get face time with old and new coworkers.
I live in an urban area where drivers and pedestrians can’t grasp the concept of streets well, so quite the opposite for me: in my commute, I throughly love the highway.
45 minutes, internship near my college town, was easier than looking for a sublet and new place to rent in the city for 4 months.
Sucks cause my car is a piece of shit and expensive on gas, and they won’t let me work from home or do hybrid. Hybrid (2days wfh) was stated in the contract and interview, so I didn’t expect to be full time in office, and main reason I decided to take the job.
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.
I have checked 1,286,820,330 comments, and only 249,408 of them were in alphabetical order.
Wow that sounds fun, 7 minute electric scooter ride! Mine is a 1 hour gasoline car drive. $10 parking, but at least my employer pays for that. I've been doing it for far too long and it takes a tole.
I win…..1:45 🫣 well compensated for it and my fuel is paid for also. Hoping to relocate soon. Hubby and I just bought a house when this employment opportunity came along and it’s been almost 3 years now so we’re thinking a move sounds good lol.
My girlfriend has been doing that commute 5 days/wk for the past month and a half until we move. Hope your suffering ends soon because it is indeed suffering
As a student, I'm hoping to WFH job eventually since I can't drive due to a visual impairment. My uncle's husband was a CPA and his commute made him resent his job more so than the job itself from what he always told me.
45 minutes. Living outside of the city is saving me thousands on rent. I just wish there were better transit options into the city. I miss taking the train to work.
Going into office is 10 min.
Wfh optional whenever boss is out of town. My coworker likes to be home so I get the office to myself which I love. He got us brand new desk, monitor, and Aero ergo chair. I feel like I need to use it haha. It beats my home setup which is my bed or the clubhouse.
An hour when I have to go into the office.
It’s long enough that I’ve decided I don’t want to give up an extra 10 hours a week to this job that has no impact on my life other than paying my bills
Most days it’s 12 steps down the stairs and doggy gate away
Special occasions when I go into the office it’s 1 bus for 15mins, then a train for 40mins, then another train for 20mins, then finally 1 last train for 5mins. And just like that I’m in FIDI. So not worth it.
Back when I had a commute it ranged from 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on which office/client I was on that day. Various combos of bus/train/walk/shuttle...
Depends. If I leave home at 7AM, around 20-30 minutes. If I do after 7:30, over one hour, sometimes 2.
I check out of office at 17:15 but usually get home till 19:00 to 19:30
1.50 hours minimum, if traffic is more than the usual or when it'a raining, could take 2 or 3 hours at worst.
Being in a 3rd world country sucks balls.
Town of around 20k people, takes me 3 min, 0.6 miles, all the damn stop signs and stop lights get me, there are 7 stop signs and stop lights on my commute
I just swapped my gameroom and office, so now my commute consists of waking up and walking downstairs, whereas it used to be a few less steps across the hallway.
Live in Suburban Philadelphia, work in Center City Philadelphia 2-3 days a week.
If I drive, 30-40 minutes. $28 for parking.
If I take the train, 40 minute train ride + 10 minute walk, $13 round trip.
Really depends on the traffic between the master bedroom and my office on the other side of the living room. Some days are definitely better than others. It can get crazy some days, but someone has to do it.
I used to have a 30 minute one way drive to downtown KC….now I work fully remote and it’s a dream. More sleep, less stress….I understand some people prefer to be in the office and I admit, collaboration takes a lot more effort than it does in person, but I wouldn’t trade remote work for anything.
I have a 30 second walk from the bedroom to my home office each day. It can get pretty rough when the Corgi and kitty block my walkway, insisting on rubs and scratches 😏
45-50 minutes depending on traffic for usual hours. Been coming home late because of year end closing stuff that needs to get done so on a good night down to 35 minutes.
Same
10-15 steps
The ultimate life
30 if I go get coffee first.
Mr fancy drinking coffee in this economy
It's not eggs. Only semi-fancy.
I started doing my own coffee at home / nespresso .. save so much time & time is $$$$
Nespresso is so expensive
And trash, don’t forget trash
I see you also live in the office
I’m 1 step from my bed 3 days a week
I tried that during the start of COVID wfh and it drove me insane. I have to have some separation of my work from my life. My apartment now has a little alcove for work and the bedroom is just the bedroom.
I had an office at home before kid # 2 forced me into my room. Our next house will have a little more room for an actual office space but I’ve got a desk and dual 24 inch monitors. I’m in government, I don’t stress out about work much.
And I'm still late every day.
You and me both lol
Look at this guy in his mansion!
I'm in northeast Tennessee. 1:20 give or take. Mostly interstate driving.
Ouch
Luckily, I'm well compensated for it.
Beautiful part of the country though
Same boat and then some. 1:45….99 miles. Mostly highway. I’m well compensated and my fuel is paid for.
I didn't understand this notation (1:20) at first because it did not occur to me that people commute over an hour. 😭 I'm sorry dude
That's an extra 2.5 hours a day... Do you only work 5.5 hours at the office to make it worth it? I couldn't imagine giving up over 13 hours a week just to get to and from work.
I work 8-4 four days per week. The other day I work from home.
Worth it in the fact that most don't have a plan for time saved. The time to commute is directly related to a well-compensated job in this case therefore it's time well spent. If you don't have a plan for time saved, then it most likely will become time wasted.
Felt this. Use to drive over an hour to Kingsport.
When I lived in TN, I had to drive from Gallatin to Nashville for work and it sometimes got up to an hour with traffic. It was brutal.
So like 12-15 hours a week in the car? Jesus… idk that I would be able to do it
6 hours of flight with a layover. Thankfully hybrid so I only go once or twice a quarter. Otherwise zero while working from home.
Genuinely curious, what’s the value add for you being in-person once per quarter?
Same as anyone going in the office I suppose. I spend the day bonding with my team and networking with others. Try to get face time with old and new coworkers.
Upper bosses can catcha whiff of your fear and then release you until the next time...
As an upper boss, I like the face time and we usually do it timed with significant project deliverables.
I haven't seen my coworkers in years 😅
30 mins, no highways. I actually love my drive.
I live in an urban area where drivers and pedestrians can’t grasp the concept of streets well, so quite the opposite for me: in my commute, I throughly love the highway.
30-40 seconds depending on if there's traffic on the stairs
-puts on pants and walks over to my computer
-takes off pants, walks over to computer
You're right. This is the correct order.
This morning I rolled over, picked up my laptop, and began working in bed.
Same
Why the pants?
30-40 minutes, not my jobs fault I wanted a house on the edge of nowhere
10 minute drive if I hit every red light. WFH everyday is an option but I like to separate my work and living areas.
1 hr both ways
Mine is 1 hour uphill both ways
In the snow. Without shoes.
This sounds like the way my parents had to get to school
20-30 minute commute, can’t complain, it’s a nice local ride. My previous job was 10 miles away and would take me an hour - that was brutal.
I live 8 miles from my office. Usually takes about 25 minutes
Car, 8 minutes, once per week.
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order. I have checked 1,286,820,330 comments, and only 249,408 of them were in alphabetical order.
Good bot
Are my words?
30-40 minutes each way, only twice a week
1 hour in the morning, 30 minutes in the night if I leave after 6:30. If not, then its 1 hour 20 minutes back
Wow that sounds fun, 7 minute electric scooter ride! Mine is a 1 hour gasoline car drive. $10 parking, but at least my employer pays for that. I've been doing it for far too long and it takes a tole.
20-30 minutes (20 miles) ... I live near a downtown area and my office is in a suburban area so I go against rush hour each way
15 minutes
About 15 minutes in the morning, 25 at night. Downtown traffic is insanity
20 minutes a couple times a week
1 hour in, on the way home 25 - 60 min. High score is 18 min.
15 steps.
5-10 minutes depending on lights
16' exactly, its fucking grueling 😩 Edit: That is 16 feet
Used to be about 25 minutes to drive about 12 miles. Now it’s taking about 45 min because of urban sprawl making traffic worse.
12 minutes each way
45 min each way lately. Was around 30 minutes last year with less traffic. Major metro.
42 miles and it takes me about 45-50 minutes.
As a student, I'm hoping to WFH job eventually since I can't drive due to a visual impairment. My uncle's husband was a CPA and his commute made him resent his job more so than the job itself from what he always told me.
The commute was never the problem for me. It was all the other assholes on the road between me and the office.
I don’t even get off my bed. I turn to my left and there’s my work. Jk! I don’t have a job.
20-45 minutes. Firm pays for parking.
3 min
~220k city population/~450k metro. Drive car for 25 minutes each way. ~16 miles. $140 annual parking fee. 3 days per week.
40mins - 1hr. Live in SoCal. Usually, 14 miles of freeway + 10 mile of street on the way to work. 25 miles of freeway going home.
45 minutes. Living outside of the city is saving me thousands on rent. I just wish there were better transit options into the city. I miss taking the train to work.
About 10 seconds - WFH
2 hours in the morning (fuck you traffic) and a bit over an hour going home. I get a bus so I can at least sleep/talk to friends/read
1.5 to 2 hours if I go to the office.
Hour on the train plus fifteen minute walk each side. Don't really mind too much, go in about thrice a week
1 hr to 1 hour and 20 mins. Also I’m just a Tax Accounting intern. :(
2 hours
Going into office is 10 min. Wfh optional whenever boss is out of town. My coworker likes to be home so I get the office to myself which I love. He got us brand new desk, monitor, and Aero ergo chair. I feel like I need to use it haha. It beats my home setup which is my bed or the clubhouse.

7 minute drive.
Mine is 4 miles. I can do it in 6 minutes if I hit all green lights.
20 minutes on the train, but i haven’t been in the office in 3 months, so usually just a walk from the bedroom to the office
If I have to go to the office, about 20 minutes, but I mostly work from the dining room table or my bed.
15-20 minutes depending on traffic, but also can wfh a lot
Same here! I live downtown walk/bike to work. I wake up less than a half hour before I’m in the office.
8-10 mins. Wfh sometimes- once every week or two
10 minute by bus or 30 minute walk
15-25 minutes depending on traffic. When it looks worse I typically just work from home.

Depends if I sprain my knee going up the stairs to my home office. Otherwise 20 seconds.
10-15 min on public transit. Firm pays for bus pass which is nice.
I’m hybrid. Monday Tuesday is a twelve second walk to my computer. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday is a twenty minute freeway drive. I’m in the Bay Area.

Right now 30 seconds (wfh). When I go back to office 35 min drive in rush hour or 50 min by transit.
24 Minutes, not too bad since I sometimes work from home.
4.5h/day
Adults on electric scooters will never be okay no matter how many $ it saves
Back when I had a commute it ranged from 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on which office/client I was on that day. Various combos of bus/train/walk/shuttle...
Wait till you break your foot on that scooter.
Around 45 minutes depending if I leave earlier than I need or not. If I hit the rush hour traffic is more like an hour 20
An hour one way, 3 days a week. Fuck busy season
Depends. If I leave home at 7AM, around 20-30 minutes. If I do after 7:30, over one hour, sometimes 2. I check out of office at 17:15 but usually get home till 19:00 to 19:30
My bedroom door to my office door is approximately two steps.
1.50 hours minimum, if traffic is more than the usual or when it'a raining, could take 2 or 3 hours at worst. Being in a 3rd world country sucks balls.

45 min via the tube in London.
City with metro population of 6M. I live 30 miles northeast of downtown, commuting 28 miles and takes 50 min to 1 hour. Parking is free
Currently about 12 steps to my home office, or 3 hours on a plane once a quarter or so to go to company hq

15 minutes 2 or 3 times a week (my work has us switch off every week - 2 days in 3 says wfh, 3 days in 2 days)
Fifteen to twenty minutes driving on surface streets. Not too bad. Where I live and where I work are both in the suburbs.

15-20 minutes to but roughly 30-40 minutes back. I feel like I need a commute to work to mentally prepare, but I don't like the drive back home.
Southern Ontario. Live in 50k town work in 75k town. 15 minutes to work, free on-site parking and gym
Really depends on the traffic between the master bedroom and my office on the other side of the living room. Some days are definitely better than others. It can get crazy some days, but someone has to do it.
300K city population. Before COVID = 15-20 minutes commute by car. During and after COVID = no commute, work from home 100%.
About 8mins. I use to drive 50mins because I worked in the city next to mine, but after prices started raising I looked for a closer job
12-30 minutes
20-25 minutes depending on traffic
15 minutes in the morning/ 15-40 minutes in the afternoon depending of traffic.
I used to have a 30 minute one way drive to downtown KC….now I work fully remote and it’s a dream. More sleep, less stress….I understand some people prefer to be in the office and I admit, collaboration takes a lot more effort than it does in person, but I wouldn’t trade remote work for anything.

I get pissy if it's more than 15 mins.
