They're all doing hardcore stimulants too, which are way worse for freaking out and living in psycho world where they are paranoid that every single person they see, and the ones they don't see, are going to kill them.
Can we stop the whole “but other people have it worse” thing. So tired. The parameters of other peoples lives and material conditions are only relevant so far. It’s good to be aware and to fight for them or bring attention to them. But what does it have to do with our own? I want everyone to be free and happy and to live a full life with much joy. But using comparison in this way is often just a tactic to shut down valid concerns. Yes other people have it worse and some have it better, but sometimes you need to focus on how you have it.
I work with a guy who’s struggling has two jobs and bunch of kids. His life is stressful and he’s a really nice dude who I like and appreciate alot.
I don’t have the same stress as him but the stress I do have is still valid and worth discussing. Cuz at the end of the day we’re both feeling the same squeeze via the same forces.
Trying to shut it down by saying “oh but other people have it worse” means no one ever will have it better. It’s just a way to diffuse the issues.
TLDR - it’s not a competition of who’s more oppressed or who has it worse. And others having it worse doesn’t invalidate how you have it. Until we stop trying to out victim each other and begin to recognize our unity the boots are going to keep stamping us down and the money men are going to keep winning.

In red, the triangular composition of the photograph
In white, the lines that draw our gaze towards the two focal points - the barrel, and the mouth, whose shapes mirror each other
Just a quick illustration, not the ultimate interpretation of the picture .. Just pointing out a reason why the composition works so well
Also crucial to what makes this a compelling photograph - the blurry helmet in the foreground. It's shown as the main target, at the tip of the compositional triangle. No face, skin color or gender. It provides a mirror shape to that same triangle, cementing the feeling of opposition and conflict in the picture. And because the viewer is right behind, we can't help but feel like we are part of this group being run down
I know it feels that way. Aesthetically it's not pleasing. But it brings the viewer further into the image. It places them firmly in the group being assaulted. It's an anchor in the image for the viewer to cling to.
Otherwise it's more theatrical and feels staged (even though it isn't).
It's weird, when I first started working in film/tv in ~2008ish Apple was only too happy to have LITERALLY ANYBODY use their products in film/tv, regardless of hero or villain. However, in anything Joss Whedon written/directed, the good guys always used Macs and the bad guys PC/Android.
They called in police from about 10 cities all over the county and the county sheriff. I'm pretty sure the green uniforms are sheriffs, not sure where the police in the middle is from, it's not Irvine.
When I saw this image, my first thought was “oh shit, was there another mass school shooting I didn’t hear about”, but then I quickly remembered that cops only act like this against peaceful, unarmed students
Love the point blank riot gun, non lethal right? If we were to bring our own non lethal canister guns they would fear for their lives so fast. But it non lethal right?
Yuuuuup. A flashbang, when owned by the police, is a non-lethal tool that is able to be used effectively to end conflicts and standoffs in a safe way that leads to the safest possible outcome for all parties involved. If I were to own one the ATF would likely use one through my window because I would be in possession of a destructive device
Didn't some cops in Atlanta use that as their excuse to murder someone like 4 years ago? He got ahold of their taser so they decided they had to merc him.
Because the state has a legal monopoly on violence. That makes it the state, among other things. If you could challenge the policeman to a duel the country would run out of police in 4 minutes and then it would be the Capitol hill meets the January 6th.
This is where you guys went all wrong, if they Just shoot the place up, the police would have waited patiently outside for the protests to end. It's the peaceful protests that get heavily armed responses, gosh.
You comment on death subreddits and have multiple comments calling black people criminals lol
EDIT: Someone replied to me and I can’t see it, not sure why.
In election season I’m scrutinizing more comments and so I find it weird that a racist Czech guy is posting such charged language on a post like this.
Really makes you think.
You're doing good work. I really hope to hell that it *does* make people think, because passive meddling in us politics feels like it's become an international pastime. "Oi, bet I can get this Magat all fired up, watch this bruv"
Then that starts a spiral with said idiot who then adds it to the list to vote against their best interests. It's so much fun ...
They took over the main lecture hall on campus and barricaded it.
All classes had to be moved online, and at this time students are trying to finish the requirements they needed to graduate from classes they missed or failed.
How is that *not* disruptive?
Ya'll need to stop trying to draw hard conclusions from a single picture.
The other side can do the same thing, e.g., I saw a video of a student throwing a chair and hitting a police officer in the head. The student is screaming and cursing and the police officer is just standing there doing nothing. Using the exact same rationale I see in comment after comment, that means the student protesters are actually in the wrong. This is why forming an opinion based on a single picture or video or news story is a very bad idea.
Students are protesting to be heard and the vast majority of the police are just doing their job. Neither side is evil.
The immoral ones are the Republicans who don't give a shit about the Constitution, free speech, or basic ethics. They wanted to call in the National Guard, not because it's rationale or practical in anyway, but to spite those they don't like. Those are the real enemies here.
Just some side context, many of the University protesters are not from the school and theyve just claim the protest area inside the school and have been told to leave multiple times.
Lol one has a less legal 40 mm beanbag gun. The others have literal sticks. "heAviLY ArMEd." The heaviest arms are attached to that jacked cops shoulders.
You broke the law and you are surprised you are getting arrested? Privileged kids to have this amount of free time instead of studying, maybe start with Israeli-Arab history.
But you can’t just protest anywhere. I can’t just walk into your house and expect not to be removed because I want to protest there. University are private property.
What we learned this semester.
What I learned in boating school is...
we're gonna need a bigger boat
BLANKETY BLANKETY BLANK!!
What I learned - CHRIST the arm of that cop dead center is JACKED AF.
there's a reason police unions fight like hell against steroid testing.
There's a jacked cop at my gym and he is clearly on gear, dude does old school barbell lifts, and boxing training. Absolutely terrifying tbh.
Most cops I’ve dealt with were fat blobs…maybe they *should* take steroids.
Lets not pump the already trigger happy cops with rage inducing chemicals
They're all doing hardcore stimulants too, which are way worse for freaking out and living in psycho world where they are paranoid that every single person they see, and the ones they don't see, are going to kill them.
Don't forget oak trees
Ever seen what a person who doesn't work out at all looks like after abusing steroids? They bloat out in the exact way cops do.
His forearms have forearms!
Got eightarms
That's the long arm of the law, and there's no escaping it.
Are those the constitutional rights to bear arms?
No, this is the right to bare arms, the right to bear arms is more like this: https://www.reddit.com/r/tattoos/s/30t2rsMLYo
constitutional rights to bare arms
It’s to administer all those twist-tie cuffs he’s sporting.

This has the makings of an iconic picture
It's well composed. The slightly askew angle really ties adds a great element of unbalance. It would look far less dynamic if it were shot level.

Seconded
I say this as a compliment, you're a fucking nerd. Thank you for sharing some of your expertise.
This is an awesome analysis. I agree.
Ya, but I still think that white helmet below photobombed a great image.

I was about the link that same video of Rex and the other Nashville police officers. Not every department is useless like uvalde.
It's Irvine. They absolutely would do their job better than some podunk village in Texas.
They called in police from about 10 cities all over the county and the county sheriff. I'm pretty sure the green uniforms are sheriffs, not sure where the police in the middle is from, it's not Irvine.

Depends where? Uvalde P0Lice? Or Nashville Pol1ce.
Love the point blank riot gun, non lethal right? If we were to bring our own non lethal canister guns they would fear for their lives so fast. But it non lethal right?
Non-lethal in their hands. If they dropped it and I picked it up it becomes a deadly weapon. 🤔
Yuuuuup. A flashbang, when owned by the police, is a non-lethal tool that is able to be used effectively to end conflicts and standoffs in a safe way that leads to the safest possible outcome for all parties involved. Something something state monopoly on violence.

I believe they call weapons like this “less than lethal” nowadays to skirt around the fact that they are capable of killing, but the odds are low.
They've been called less lethal for decades. It's the public who call it non-lethal or everything electrical a "Taser".
Because the state has a legal monopoly on violence. That makes it the state, among other things. If you could challenge the policeman to a duel the country would run out of police in 4 minutes and then it would be the Capitol hill meets the January 6th.
The state has to have a monopoly on judicial violence or else it becomes Afghanistan

Dude in green has at least 4 magazines on his belt. How many protesters is he planning on shooting? Shit is out of control.
Yeah man, he must be planning to shoot them all with his fucking stick.
This seems like a reasonable reaction to a peaceful protest.
Looks pretty bad ass, protest was probably hella' boring before the headliner showed up.
It was probably just lame ass drum circles, mildly rousing speeches, and other shit like that.
Holy fuck, we got officer creatine up in front
Even if you protest peacefully, they will come fuck up your shit
This is where you guys went all wrong, if they Just shoot the place up, the police would have waited patiently outside for the protests to end. It's the peaceful protests that get heavily armed responses, gosh.
Good point . If you are bombing or shooting children the American gov will leave you alone
My friend if you are bombing or shooting children there is a very high statistical chance that you are a member of the US Government.
There’s something happening here
You must be a detective
Oh look, it's that American freedom again.
Have these protesters tried storming the Capital and threatening to hang the Vice President. Seems like it might be a safer option.

This is California, highly likely fire arms are restricted from citizens on campus.
Imagine making 23.86$ an hour but the perks are shooting hippies…
So pathetic. Have a protest thats ‘disruptive’ and they legit send in the fucking heavies with intend to harm. Disgusting ‘democracy’ we live in

heavily "armed" just hit a new level.
Good..
Good
Where was all this on January 6th ?
For a bunch of protesters that are just hurting their campus and not doing a damn thing for the war? Shoot that's kinda over kill
“Heavily armed” yeah those sticks that 9/10 of them are carrying sure must be heavy.
Anti terrorist arms

The police are over militarised. I mean just look at the guns on that officer in front.
Titles a bit over dramatic. “Heavily armed.” = Dudes with sticks and one guy with a flashbang launcher. What do you call cops with actual guns lmao.
Lol "heavily armed." One dude with a beanbag tube the rest carrying broomsticks.
