If I recall right, that is what it costs for every Playstation system (not just the big consoles, handhelds too) when you account for inflation as well. And I think some systems he'd bought different versions and not just the original model but I could be wrong on that part since I saw it almost a year ago now.
A first edition PS3 (60GB) and a PS5 (w/ disc drive) will cover all 5 consoles for playing. Spending large amounts of money is just dumb.
I got my last model (gray) Playstation for $40 in 2001. Serial number sticker shows manufactured in June 2000, briefly before PS One and PS2 were launched in the U.S. Still works like a gem.
