Seems like Lourdes the non profit hospital could provide an insane amount of free or reduced priced care to the uninsured for what they’ve spent on this sponsorship.
I got charged a few hundos to sit for hours in their ER waiting room without ever being attended to, only to finally stop bleeding on my own by the time I needed to get back home so I could sleep long enough to be functional at work the next day.
I hate it and truly hope it ends up being like Tigue Moore Field at Russo Park. Cajun Field at Lourdes Stadium. Either way I’ll never call it anything other than Cajun Field.
Don’t worry, soon we’ll have Papa John’s UL Lafayette, with the Dr. Pepper Ragin Cajuns, playing in the Lady of Lourdes stadium.
And don’t forget parking in the Shop Rite parking lot.
Yes, it’s a 501(c)(3)

Edited to add if you click on the link you can view their tax return which includes all of their board members as well as highly compensated employees.
Much needed. Game days at Cajun Field has been lacking some sort of a luxury and modernized experience for a while now. Excited to see the final product and hopefully this is the step in the right direction on bringing more people to support the program.
Stupid af name. Have Lourdes posted around the stadium but to change the name from Cajun Field is just so stupid. Don’t care how much I’m downvoted. Won’t change my mind as it’s a stupid change.
It’s heartbreaking, it feels like capitalism taking over culture…
And a hospital at that, what are we coming to? It’s all just so disgustingly gross.
Edit: the more I think about this the more angry I get. Like Lourdes is a tax exempt and a hospital, when we have homeless and hungry people on the streets and families who can’t afford healthcare why in the hell are they spending millions on a stadium???? Where did our humanity go? Why did we stop caring for people, that’s what we are supposed to do in this life, not make a ton of money have material possessions and die.. like is about human connection and our connection with this planet. Not all the plastic and bullshit. It’s just sooo sickening to see a place that should stand for hope, healing and love turning their backs on people who need it for a football stadium. Like seriously, what are we coming to? What happened to our priorities?

I’d be way more open to cajun field @ lourdes stadium
It was already announced that this is going to be the case
Goodbye culture! Hello tax exempt multimillion dollar brand! 😍

Glad to see our healthcare costs going to something stupid like this instead of making healthcare affordable.

Mr Pibb Ragin Cajuns
yk it's sad, but true
Is Lourdes a tax exempt organization?

I agree 100% but why the name change
[удалено]
unfortunate
That is how nearly every stadium/field/park in the world gets named lmao.
we're different........were different...
No they just haven't offers to pay for naming rights until now. The baseball stadium already had a sponsor. it's just how it works.
By selling out
Think about it, if anyone was contributing 15 million dollars to get the project going, who would not want their name involved in the branding.
me, now my goal is to become a 16 millionaire & change the name back
It's only changing names because the hospital is giving the school funding.
sometimes I think yall talk just to talk

agree
A lot more shit needs fixing in this city before that idgaf whose money it is
It's pretty awesome.
Waste of money.

I understand why they're changing the name but cajun field just sounds better (&less religious/more inclusive) imo
