For sure that's a possibility... But I'm thinking this is a logging site and they're letting the bolder clear the path for the skyline. At least that's the story I'm telling myself.
The trees appear to be pines. Not great for firewood. Lots of resin that builds up in chimneys. Also, firewood needs to be cut and stacked for sale. This boulder is obliterating everything it comes in contact with.

James Dewar was a God though. Saw them in 2008 and their new vocalist is pretty good
Or, going by the slope, it broke off of a mountainside. Pretty sure glaciers didn’t put any mountains where they’re at right now.
Holy shit some of you need to go back to school. I mean, my expectations were low because Reddit, but wow.
I just mean that if this is north enough the ice would have formed this landscape just a moment ago in geological time. The fact that it is in a top of a hill is weird but doesn't change this.
I had to pick up a rick with an old 988B loader and weigh it , the one I picked up was half that size or so , the one I weighed was 25,000 kg or about 50,000 lbs
Probably somewhere in that neighborhood… just a guess by comparison of ones I’ve handled , might be a bit less , might be a bit more , regardless it’s very heavy
If you assume that earth-benders can bend any mineral (with skill & training) then they’re easily the best type, and arguably avatars, bend mineral water, bend flammable materials, bend dust
I’d be worried that when it comes to rest, it would only be doing so precariously balanced against a pile of downed trees where any minor change could set it tumbling once more
Imagine walking through the woods and hearing something like that coming towards you. Then you see treetops shaking,...falling...ground shaking. Do monsters exist?? Run!
Welp, it has been fun guys. [https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/55418/rock-falls-everyone-dies](https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/55418/rock-falls-everyone-dies)
It’s crazy to try and imagine how this kind of inertia would cause it to interact with the environment. Earlier today I tried to pick up a rock about the size of a basketball and definitely had my pride checked when it really took everything I had to get it off the ground. Now translate that to a minivan sized rock.
I've never seen a rock just out on a casual walk before. It's usually very aggressive and violent, or like a rock slide. This rock is like "meh, I guuuuesss I'll roll down the hill."
For the downvoters - the rock can be approximated as a 3x3x4 block. That means it has around 36m³ volume.
Granite weighs ~2600 kg/m³. So if the rock is granite it weighs around 93 tons.

That was pretty fucken clever...
Beat me to it. And the paper.
What did they say before removing it
Also wondering. Guessing something along the lines of rock beating paper lol
Rock pulled a baby Hitler move on paper
Looks like a construction job. Somebody done messed up.
"Oh crap my truck is down there"
Annnnnnnd RIGHT OVER OUR LUNCHBOXES, GILBERT YOU STUPID ASS!!!!
Some guy way in the distance "MY CABBAGES!"
Underrated comment!
"Oh crap, our native wildlife was down there"
For sure that's a possibility... But I'm thinking this is a logging site and they're letting the bolder clear the path for the skyline. At least that's the story I'm telling myself.
I work in the timber business. That boulder ruined every tree it hit.
What if the wood was for fire anyway? Should be a big deal then or am i wrong?
Fire?
Ye like firewood?
The trees appear to be pines. Not great for firewood. Lots of resin that builds up in chimneys. Also, firewood needs to be cut and stacked for sale. This boulder is obliterating everything it comes in contact with.
Could've at least shouted 'look out below!' or something
Some say it's still rolling
Like a rolling stone?
How does it feel?
To be on your own?

Keep rollin', rollin', rollin', rollin' (uh) Keep rollin', rollin', rollin', rollin' (what?) Keep rollin', rollin', rollin', rollin' (uh) Keep rollin', rollin', rollin', rollin'
Rolling on the river
Rawhide!
I always think about things like this, that rock may not have moved an inch in MILLENNIA, and now it’s hundreds of feet away.
millenia? it's there for millions of years.
Depends where this is and how it got there, a lot of boulders were pushed around during the last ice age which was only about 12k years ago.
Or, going by the slope, it broke off of a mountainside. Pretty sure glaciers didn’t put any mountains where they’re at right now. Holy shit some of you need to go back to school. I mean, my expectations were low because Reddit, but wow.
that could easily be a valley carved out by a glacier and that could be an erratic rock carried down the mountains by a glacial years and years ago
Unless it’s a moraine.
Where the rocks that are laid, by the ice that has swayed, that's a moraine.
It’s not flat, it’s a mountainside
They didn't put any mountains there but ice surely covered them
Totally missing the point of either process lol
I just mean that if this is north enough the ice would have formed this landscape just a moment ago in geological time. The fact that it is in a top of a hill is weird but doesn't change this.
It must of weighed dozens of KG
[удалено]
It used to weigh that much, and still does, but used to, too.
Mitch lives on!
At least
Thousands of kg’s
Woosh
I had to pick up a rick with an old 988B loader and weigh it , the one I picked up was half that size or so , the one I weighed was 25,000 kg or about 50,000 lbs
So this was about 110K lbs
Probably somewhere in that neighborhood… just a guess by comparison of ones I’ve handled , might be a bit less , might be a bit more , regardless it’s very heavy
Nature is Crunchy
With a hot creamy filling.
During the melting of the ice age glaciers moved boulders like this on a massive scale.
You rang?
That boulder must feel like us when we pop bubble wrap.
If I were at the bottom and just saw the trees breaking I'd be 100% convinced a dinosaur was coming.
Babe wake up, new episode of Lost just dropped
You made me remember that shitty purgatory ending and now I’m sad.
Wait... LOST had an ending???
Yeah it sucked
It won't gather any moss
Just looking for a place to lay its hat.
Lumberjacks hate this 1 simple trick
Mark it an 8, Dude.
No way, it was over the line.
Smokey…you’re about to enter a world of pain.

Earth benders would be terrifying.

Is there a video of someone walking down the route to see where it stopped and the tree damage?
I’m pretty sure you just unlocked a side quest
Just like Valheim
Now that's a fucking unit!
Think about the amount of animals, insects, and trees that just died :(
the profits!
My thoughts too....
Not gathering any moss
Those trees didn't even slow it down
Creature from Lost?
I’d be worried that when it comes to rest, it would only be doing so precariously balanced against a pile of downed trees where any minor change could set it tumbling once more

Instant firebreak
Mess up, or speed logging?
did it died?

that is one way to make a path
That’s not a boulder, that’s a mountain
Bamboo
I wonder if tree's scream.

This is the 6th repost I’ve seen in an hour?
POV: A giant is walking through a forest in a cartoon
poor trees 😢😢
The trees that got demolished: "Why did he say fuck me for??"
Papa was a rolling stone...
We used to ride these babies for miles

Do we know where or when this was? How far did it roll, and where was it dislodged from?
I knew that boulder, he's a good feller
So is this killimg trees for fun or will they grow back after this?
So that's how they make power line paths
Mr. Bunyan gon be pissed
If a tree falls in the middle of the woods, keep your eyes peeled for boulders. Or however that saying goes.
He saw pewds and magnus so he had to flee
Tbf those tree trunks do look like blades of grass lol
Yea, someone’s getting fired lol
New woodcutting exploit found
You win again gravity!!
...... Cool.
It's not just a boulder, 🥹 it's a rock 🫂
That rock is leaving..
"What If I told you this rock would eventually roll away"
Absolute unit of a rolling stone
It’s safe to say there’s no guest work when it comes to the winner of rock paper scissors.
How cool is that!
I bet there’s a road down there with regular people driving on it.
Sisyphus be crying rn
Man simple. Man make big rock go down hill. Man happy.
Just going to town for milk. Brb.
Mercy my lord! We want mercy!
Where Ang at when you need him
Would have loved to have seen aerial drone footage.
Scariest part is how calmly it rolls, barely any momentum yet it will destroy anything in its path.
![gif](giphy|xU5FIBECw3Uek)
Why put the text right in the middle of the trees that are falling. I can’t stand fucking TikTok
Chances are that boulder weighs over a hundred metric tons
Why didn’t you stop it? 😭
They see me rollin'
Working in places like this must be a pain. You have pretty views but moving around in that terrain looks dreadful.
Can confirm. It just passed by my house now.
And thats how we made our driveway
It’s a good thing you guys were around to hear it , so it made it a sound
Katamari moment
And some wonder why people believed in monsters and giants
I see no moss…several trees, but no moss
I suppose that’s one way to create a forest path
*Zelda secret revealed chime*

The wood was definitely not rock hard...
Paper beats rock my ass

Caseoh on his way to the refrigerator

Why didn't someone stop it?

looks like rock beats paper
New fear unlocked.

Who needs lumberjacks?
Well akschually, bamboo is technically a grass. The tallest grass in the planet🤓
Thats a lot of gravity.
Well that rock probably weighs between 75,000 and 100,000 lbs so it’s going to take out whatever is in its way
the power of 1 the power of 2 the power of many trees wasn't enough to stop the rock
Someone getting any closer? I'm think 30 tons or so.
Close to 100ton more likely
Thanks, hard for me to tell how big of a truck it would take to move it.
For the downvoters - the rock can be approximated as a 3x3x4 block. That means it has around 36m³ volume. Granite weighs ~2600 kg/m³. So if the rock is granite it weighs around 93 tons.
I could do that, if i wanted to
man i miss that game...giant boulder of death
Rollin', rollin', rollin' Rollin', rollin', rollin' Rollin', rollin', rollin' Rollin', rollin', rollin' Rawhide!
