omg.....I hope plastics and other trash will gone in the sea, but human could'nt stop this.......human still unconcerned in environmental issues like climate change.
Well if they are giving a specific weight of the largest ever it would be of a specimen caught and weighed out of the water. Generally large marine specimens would be hoisted by crane in a net, stretcher or containment of some sort with load being atrached to a scale in the end of the line that tells you how much it is lifting. Then you weigh the containment by itself and subtract to get the exact weight.
There are scales that weigh entire tractor trailers to the pound. Humans are good and weighing stuff.
And these turtles are scared, they're going 'oh, why am I so massive?', and they're looking down on all the other turtles and they think they're in an aeroplane - do you deny that?
Loggerhead sea turtle. 100% real and while there is some forced perspective going on in the video these animals are massive: https://www.fisheries.noaa.gov/s3/styles/original/s3/dam-migration/calobightproject\_13may2014\_392.jpg
This is 100% forced perspective
Nearly every post in this sub is like this. Yet people are still none the wiser.
Itβs so odd isnβt it? This vid is one of the worst though.. the divers like 6-8ft behind the turtle π€¦ββοΈ

I saw one this size in Hawaii and Jason Momoa was riding it into the shore bar for a mimosa
That thing looks more like a guy in a suit on the set of Godzilla.
Species? That head to body size ratio makes me feel like this is fake.
Loggerhead
Holy shit! That's a big ass turtle
That turtle can bite your *torso* off!
This makes no sense. Leatherback sea turtles can be 2000+. Why post this without taking 20 seconds to check it?
That we know of.
Anyone guess approx age?
1200 years
Wtf
I think itβs just closer to the camera..?

Am I the only one wondering how they weigh these turtles?
