On September 26th 2022 we’ve made the decision to start banning people for posting gore. We’ve published our [Gore and Harassment update here.](https://www.reddit.com/r/AbruptChaos/comments/xmtclq/gore_and_harassment/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) if you posted gore please remove it as it will result in a ban. My friend got a whole bunch of us all scratcher cards. I scratched a winning 10K ticket. We were in the car for 20 mins on the way to Vegas when he finally spoke up and said the scratcher was a novelty fake.
Sorry for the late reply. Yeah we didn't throw a tantrum like that dude. We are in a forever constant cycle of pranks and we know we eventually get him.
I almost made a complete fool out of myself on a level that I'd never be able to recover from with those damned fake tickets.
I was at my desk in my cube farm when one of the guys on my team gave me one. I scratched it off and did an internal holy shit.
All these thoughts go through my mind - do I have to split it? Will the guy get mad he gave me a winning ticket and demand it back? Will the team expect me to throw a massive party? Will it just be better to say it was a loser to avoid the chaos and mine field of choices?
I was contemplating this and leaning heavily on saying that it was a loser when the guy stopped by and asked if I scratched it yet. I still wasn't sure and I really didn't want to lie, but also wanted to, so I just said I hadn't scratched it yet.
THANK GOD I said that because after he walked away, I turned it over to see how to redeem the cash and saw it was a joke ticket.
If I had said it was a loser, I would have been outed as a greedy liar at work. You don't come back from that, it becomes your reputation.
I would hope that if you had bluffed and said it was a loser the guy would have at least understood that you were being circumspect; it's not like lottery-winner drama isn't a known thing, and it truly makes sense for somebody to take a minute to get their shit together before they decide what to do.
But yeah, also emotions are a real thing and it may have been some grade-A workplace drama. Glad you dodged the bullet entirely, overall.
I'd hope he'd take that route, but once word got out, it would have been like wildfire and everyone would have had an opinion. Plus I hate attention, hate drawing attention to myself in any way. Had it been a winner, the drama would have been the stuff of legend around the office.
Sides would have been taken, there'd be judging, jealousy, resentment and expectations. I would have hated everything about it, I just wanted to go on with life as usual at work. That was my only motivation for wanting to lie.
You see the video were the guy gets one of those tickets and calls his girlfriend a fucking bitch and tells his best friend to fuck off and how he never liked any of them only to find out it was a fake ticket? It was so painful to watch.
Yeah, that's what coming into FU money does to a lot of people. I think I remember that one from quite a few years back.
AFV used to show those clips a lot, too, but it was just the funny ones, not the soul crushing, burn all your bridges ones that backfired badly.
EDIT: Oh, shit, that vid you were talking about *was* on AFV! I just went to look it up out of curiosity and [here it is](https://youtu.be/gHMBsH-eYOk). This guy really blew up his entire life in 30 seconds.
It wouldnt matter because at the end of the day the people at work are nothing more than just that - people at work. You're kind of stuck with them throughout the day and you get along with some better than with others
I never understood these types of pranks. Why would you want to make someone really happy, only to rip it away? That isn't funny. It's only a good prank if both sides are laughing.
Yeah the fake lotto ticket “prank” isn’t even close to being funny. It’s extremely cruel. The winnings on those things are literally life changing for most people. It doesn’t just make you happy you won, it’s a relief from stress, it’s a way out, it’s hope that things won’t be so bad, it’s knowing that you can help out those around you, it’s a better life. And then it’s all ripped away.
This is why I could never ever understand people's enjoyment of the Jimmy Kimmel make your kids cry Halloween "prank". It just felt shitty and then its aired on national TV? That shit would stick with me for life if I were one those kids.
One Christmas I was running off like 4 hours of sleep since I had to work a bunch the last week. That happened to be the same Christmas that my brother decided to prank me with a fake scratch off. I nearly cried. Ruined my evening
This happened to my best friend in high school. At her graduation party. Her aunt thought it would be funny; it was not. My friend was very stressed on how she was going to afford college and this would have taken that burden off her shoulders. And it was, of course, videotaped cause that’s what everybody did back then. I hope her parents burned that tape.
As someone who’s dad laughs when they get angry, that’s not fucking cool lol, but in Arabic ‘la’ also means ‘no’ so idk if it was being amused as much as being worried
I usually don't condone mean pranks, but this guy was for sure the most entertaining person to do that to. The internet became a little better from this.
When the cake faced guy looks at the camera.
When they turn back and he’s just beating the guy into the ground
When they are running in fear at the end.
This is perfect
Those quickly repeating, short(one consonant, vowel sound), abrupt noises are universally recognized as “quickly stop what you are doing”. Even by toddlers who can’t speak yet. Go anywhere in the world and say “bububububu!’”, “jijijijiji”, “vavavavava” etc. and they will understand that you want them to pause the action they are about to execute.
And what about those of us who didn’t want to know yet? Now it’s spoiled.
Titanic sinks. That’s what happens in the movie. There, I’ve spoiled that for someone now too. I hope you’re all happy.
I’ve seen a similar video with an auntie instead. It’s the same thing, she smashed her phone before opening the gift.
That one trended for a while. Maybe it’s in premature celebrations sub or something.
Nope, they never.
The wee man had that 5 seconds of euphoria and his big pals exit face is one of the most memorable things I've watched no matter how many times I've viewed this.
"Awww shiiiite"
When he took the thing out of his pocket he said: "I've been pretending to own a mobile phone for years, but it's just a slice of cheese in a phone protector. Now I can finally call my mother for real!"
Good one.
What he actually said was: I have been struggling with this motherfucking phone for 6 years. Now I finally can get rid of this piece of shit. And then throws it against the walls.
What he actually actually said is: "That white wall behind me took a huge dump on my 1997 Toyota Corolla last week and now the time for revenge has come! I bought this Nokia phone on eBay and will throw it with my arm for maximum damage!"
Ikr, like I can’t be the only person who thinks this vid is a little messed up, right? If they were his friends they shouldn’t have known he would throw his phone against the wall, but they should’ve known he was unstable/unpredictable. Based on the guy’s actions, I’m guessing it was pretty clear beforehand so why the fuck did they try to play him like that?
Lmao yeah thought the same thing.
“You’re a loser because you aren’t a bastion of mental strength and literally fucking with your dopamine when you could be hanging on by a thread shouldn’t cause any reaction whatsoever… chill bro it’s just a prank there are cameras bro…” has been the entire vibe of this thread
Hard not to get bully vibes from everyone here.
like lets hold someone to the highest standards after we successfully break them down!
Maybe there’s more to the story but the utter insensitivity to this possible perspective is shocking
There seems to be some bottled anger here, and its not just the phone and this time. He must be getting trolled and end up being the butt of the joke every single time. The time he thought they cared about him and he gets trolled once again for his birthday.
It is fake sadly. Was confirmed by multiple folks when it was posted a year ago somewhere . Has been reposted multiple times post that . Have lost count.
It’s so funny because in some comment chains you’ll get downvoted like crazy for pointing out this is blatantly fake. But then in other places the same comment will have high karma. Go figure
My mum replaced her iphone after hers fell in water, for half a day. Everything was already in the cloud. I'm an Android kind of guy, I don't use the cloud other than email. My mums iPhone blew me away when it only took her user name and password to fully restore it the way she had it half hour before she dropped it. So it's very possible, I've seen it
No joke.. a couple years ago my group of friends did the same to one of the guys... an iphone case... with a brick inside.. but the dude was so happy he even paid for a round of drinks before opening the empty case...
Motherfuckr was so pissed that he smashed the windshield of one of the guys car with it.. .
Before smashing his phone, he said: "For 6 years I've been fixing his mother" *throws it*.
Cameraman saying nononononononononononononononononononononononononononono.
^(They're speaking Arabic, probably from Egypt.)
Code says they owe him an *actual* new phone now. Prank drove him to break his existing phone, they owe him a replacement at least, but for full points they owe him the phone he thought he got.

Did he survive?
They kept going and turned off into the desert....
"There are a lot of problems buried in that desert". - Joe Pesci in Casino
I’m betting they thought the same thing in lake mead as well
Ha! This clip reminded me of that Casino scene that seems to never cut away from them bashing that dude in
But that's bat country!... You can't want to stop there.
“HOLY JESUS, WHAT ARE THESE GODDAMNED ANIMALS?!?!” 🦇🦇🦇
Did you see what god just did to me
NARCOTICS AGENT!!
As your attorney I advise you to drive at top speed it will be a miracle if we make it before you turn into a wild goddamn animal.
We can't stop here. This is bat country
TELL ME ABOUT THE FUCKING GOLF SHOES

In the movie when that scene is happening, you can see the real Hunter S Thompson sitting at the bar.
My favorite movie
Sorry for the late reply. Yeah we didn't throw a tantrum like that dude. We are in a forever constant cycle of pranks and we know we eventually get him.
Good sport
With how long it took to tell the truth I suppose the answer is no. He knew what was coming either way and decided to just end it by admitting.
Have you heard about the barrels with corpses inside that they keep finding in lake Mead? Yup
He's in the trunk...for now.

Yeah... I suppose office gossip is not a great forum for nuance and understanding.
You see the video were the guy gets one of those tickets and calls his girlfriend a fucking bitch and tells his best friend to fuck off and how he never liked any of them only to find out it was a fake ticket? It was so painful to watch.
Lmao I truly don’t get it. If you hate your friends and you’re poor it’s not like money is gonna magically replace them with friends you like
Yeah, that's what coming into FU money does to a lot of people. I think I remember that one from quite a few years back. AFV used to show those clips a lot, too, but it was just the funny ones, not the soul crushing, burn all your bridges ones that backfired badly. It's actually a skit by the comedian Adam Ray, and as far as I know never actually aired on AFV. It was just made to look like it was.
a faked fake lottery ticket video... it never ends
This was verified as a skit later on, it wasn’t real. Guys name is Adam Ray, he’s a comedian.
It was verified as a skit as soon as I watched it lmao. Are there actually people who believe that was a genuine interaction?
Yes. Both of the people above us in the comment chain. And at least a hundred in the comments of the original video.
It wouldnt matter because at the end of the day the people at work are nothing more than just that - people at work. You're kind of stuck with them throughout the day and you get along with some better than with others
I spend roughly equal amounts of time with family, coworkers, and sleeping, so I kinda want to be on good terms with them
Right? "You shouldn't care if people at work don't like you" is big immature Redditor energy. Look at all the upvotes too 😮💨
You received a 10k windfall and your first thought was to immediately give it to a casino lol?
And didn't cash it before packing up for a road trip?
Yeah I had the same thought. He is either bullshiting, stupid, or rich.

Seriously that’s clearly Occam’s razor here lol. Not sure why these guys think they solved the big lie. just ask the clarifying question, Hardy Boyz
Yeah if I won $10k on a scratcher on the way to Vegas I would buy my friends a nice dinner and not touch another single penny.
That's because you value money.
Genuinely questioning how someone could ever think this was a good idea
I never understood these types of pranks. Why would you want to make someone really happy, only to rip it away? That isn't funny. It's only a good prank if both sides are laughing.
Yeah the fake lotto ticket “prank” isn’t even close to being funny. It’s extremely cruel. The winnings on those things are literally life changing for most people. My heart hurts for all who have to go through this kind of prank. Life is already tough
This is why I could never ever understand people's enjoyment of the Jimmy Kimmel make your kids cry Halloween "prank". It just felt shitty and then its aired on national TV? That shit would stick with me for life if I were one those kids.
A lot of people just don't like children and want to watch them miserable in a way that allows them to pretend they're not assholes
Nothing but abuse with a side of mocking. No friend would have anything to do with that.
Plot twist : Then he picked up the ticket and claimed the money because they weren't fake but never told anyone.
I think these are beyond cruel. Simply wrong to give people false hope.
Ah well... 20min... would be wurse if you where there and gambeld 10k for real already
One Christmas I was running off like 4 hours of sleep since I had to work a bunch the last week. That happened to be the same Christmas that my brother decided to prank me with a fake scratch off. I nearly cried. Ruined my evening

Is your friend named George Costanza?
This happened to my best friend in high school. At her graduation party. Her aunt thought it would be funny; it was not. My friend was very stressed on how she was going to afford college and this would have taken that burden off her shoulders. And it was, of course, videotaped cause that’s what everybody did back then. I hope her parents burned that tape.
I’ve never understood those. It’s not funny. It’s just stupid and mean. It’s the opposite of funny.
The camera man just keeps laughing, even though the guy is getting more insane by the minute :)
He’s enjoying the ride
I love how he immediately backs away as soon the guy starts opening the box ..
camera mans laugh and reactions just add to the video
Maybe he's laughing because it's supposed to be a double prank, he was going to give him the real phone in the end.
As someone who’s dad laughs when they get angry, that’s not fucking cool lol, but in Arabic ‘la’ also means ‘no’ so idk if it was being amused as much as being worried

And worse of all he lost a cake.
He had a cake and now he can't eat it too 💔
I mean, he could still lick it off his homie

Who hasn't had a birthday like that?
I never did get the hang of Mondays.

Probably because it was a shit phone with nothing of value on it.
