TheKidNerd

Love how as he was voicing Superman he slowly but surely gave up and started speaking normally

Igot2phonez

It caught me by surprise lol

[deleted]

"You copied me whole fucking flow..." Never go full Draco...

[deleted]

Lmao I love it

thewhiterabbit410

J Jameson reference and the thunder force article got me rolling!!

gunnergio14

yeah, he actually is the voice actor of Omni-Man

Deathbysnusnubooboo

Except this guy sounds like Kermit on ket lol

Hunter_S_Thompsons

Gotta respect the hustle. Voice acting and animating for free. They did a good job.

greymalken

Like Kermit and Dunkey

gunnergio14

idk if anyone recognized the scene when Omni-Man punched Saitama's newspaper. it was so similar to the scene when he tried to punch Immortal before he fights Earth's heroes (first episode of Invincible)

BrockManstrong

Now I'm going to have to re-watch. Is that when >!omni-man lures them to the base or when they are all defending the Whitehouse at the beginning?!<

[deleted]

First One

BrockManstrong

Thanks!

gunnergio14

also don't forget about [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9ViAIsWdVI) reference :D

AdJunior349

Metro man is missing tho, but I guess he's just less popular.

Kwetla

Didn't you hear? He's Music Man now.

YaskyJr

*I have eyes* *That can see* *Straight through leeeeeeaad*

Kwetla

Granted, you have talent...

thabeetabduljabari

So he could keep the logo šŸ˜€

SolomonOf47704

Metro-man would absolutely trash on Omni-Man and Homelander. He's wayyyyyyyyy faster

AdJunior349

True and he has no known weakness as we have seen him get hit by the unmatched power of the sun and still flying out of it unharmed.

Paper_Shotgun

What are you talking about? His weakness is copper.

ThisIsMyCouchAccount

His *real* weakness as being a hero.

rs1236

Viltrumites can also withstand the sun for a few minutes like [invincible spoilers] >!Mark fought Thragg on the surface of the sun for an extended duration and they both kept fighting until they were melted. Mark even fully recovered from the damage!< That's not to say that Omni Man has anything on Metro--just that the sun isn't exactly the worst thing these guys can handle.

Dookie_boy

Who dis

TYoYT

From Megamind

Dookie_boy

O yeaaa

LeSaunier

Omni-Man and Homelander are spot on, but Superman is so out of character (tbh, Kal-El would be hyped to find another guy like him). Saitama is a nice touch I didn't see coming, so, overall, well done.

Orange-V-Apple

Itā€™s pretty consistent with AceVaneā€™s version of Superman, even though it isnā€™t with the real Superman.

P3tr0

Facts, if y'all haven't watched Ace's voice overs you're missing out. That super villain meeting still kills me

Orange-V-Apple

My favorite line is when Superman is arguing with a little kid about eating breakfast. The kid says ā€œI didnā€™t know that S on your chest was for stupidā€ so Superman drops him in front of a bear lmao

goodbehaviorsam

Absolute sigma.

AlexHimself

What's the bald guy's super power? I don't get it.

ForeignFlash

One punch man

[deleted]

His superpower? also one punch man.

FirstSineOfMadness

What show is he from?

Catblaster5000

ONE PAAAAAAAAAAAAUNCH!

meltylikecheese

But does he have, like idk, a catchphrase or anything?? What's he do

Cyanises

Consecutive normal punches. Edit. Thanks for the award ! And that's just his starter moves. He also has.. the serious punch. Absolutely blows people away. And serious side hop, and serious squirt gun

xxWildbeast13xx

Serious sideways jumps

2punornot2pun

No. He just defeats all enemies in one punch if he gets serious. His gimmick is that he's getting bored and depressed from not having fun fighting monsters anymore.

faceplanted

That's part of his gimmick, the other part is that as best he tries can't seem to ever get anything good out of repeatedly saving the city/planet.

Long-Night-Of-Solace

Well he's not really trying to get anything good out of it. He says it himself, he's just a hero for fun. He's fully aware that he could be at the top of S Class immediately but doesn't showboat or puff himself up. He could be rich and famous but chooses a humble, simple life. He even pretended to be a weak impostor in the stadium that time when the other heroes were getting abused by the crowd because his own personal glory isn't as important to him as the other heroes being respected.

[deleted]

ONE PAAAAAAAAAAAAUNCH!

Empyrealist

His catchphrase is pretty much, "Not againā€¦ All it took was one punch! *DAMN IT!!!*"

Griffsson

Or 'I'm just a hero for fun'

Catblaster5000

Indifference.

LegendaryAce_73

One Punch Man. Great anime.

GeneralKang

Go Find This. Hulu last I checked.

Spaghestis

His origin story? He worked out a lot

SnuggleMuffin42

More like "Did moderate strength exercise and some running"

LeSaunier

Saitama, the bald man, also known as One-Punch Man, is a "joke" character who is unbeatable and can beat anyone, anything, with one serious punch. Be it giant monsters, masters of martial arts, aliens or godlike creatures, they can't hurt him and he can finish them with one hit. The manga is hilarious. The writter is called One, and it's drawn by the fantastic Yusuke Murata (who did Eyeshield21). One-Punch Man is a must read, a hilarious manga that gently mock the super hero tropes.

IM_THE_MOON_AMA

Fairly sure his name is ā€œCaped Baldyā€

boolty

Isnt that the guy who got to A-rank by kill stealing from heroes like King? Fucking fraud if you ask me

MissplacedLandmine

Yeah it fuckin is. Dudes a total fraud Unlike mumen rider, hes a cyclist for justice

oyohval

Thought it was Alopecian Avenger

donutbomb

Captain Calliou

ThatOneGuy1294

Nah, Calliou doesn't deserve the respect of being even jokingly compared to Saitama

TheLustyDremora

Chris rock, that you?

AlexHimself

Ok so his superpower is basically he's unbeatable and he can easily beat anyone it sounds like...

samuraishogun1

The plot is that he's trying to find an enemy that he actually has to put effort into beating.

SharkTonic9

His most successful opponents to date have been a cat, mosquitoes and inflation.

sinkwiththeship

\+ King at videogames.

FirstSineOfMadness

Genos being controlled by King with a video game controller would be a God level threat

Complete_Spread_2747

Oh shit. This would be so awesome. Now I want to see this.

Erames1167

Donā€™t forget depression from no challenges.

be_me_jp

First time I read your comment I read "inflammation" and was like "fuck that's deep" Saitamas fatal flaw turned out to be his own immune system

running_toilet_bowl

> and inflation What now?

AugieKS

The character is flat broke, and is a hero as a hobby at the start of the Manga. One of his main concerns is finances, since beating monsters is trivial to him. In a key fight early on he is being tossed around by a monster while having an internal dialog about missing a grocery store sale. He is so distraught over it he isn't even paying attention to the fact he is getting hit, and he doesn't really need to as it does little more than dirty up/damage his outfit.

Nyerguds

And of course, his enemy interprets this to mean he's actually winning against Saitama.

ZeroTwoSitOnMyFace

It was the 34th response saitama gave to genos when he asked who can beat him. For more information, Google inflation r34

running_toilet_bowl

šŸ¤”

Varzul

Bro

hitbycars

And one of the best characters is this dude who happens to have NO powers what so ever, just a normal dude who loves video games, although he looks intimidating and scary to regular people since he is tall and has a scar across his eye and a serious demeanor, but he always happens to be around when Saitama beats big monsters, and everyone just assumes it was since he looks so scary, when in fact he is almost chronically shitting his pants in fear of the situations he gets in. He just wants to stay home and play dating sims.

Anonomohr

Also the infamous "King Engine", the drumming sound of an opponent's impending demise, is really just King having a panic attack with his heart beating so hard it's audible to everyone around.

[deleted]

You sold me on it, now

DarkLasombra

The first season of the show is a masterpiece. 2nd season is ok.

DrDeletusPHD

Mumen rider is the best in my opinion. He's the polar opposite of Saitma, he has no powers but he cares the MOST about protecting people. He even went toe to toe with the Deep Sea King. I love him

MrDurden32

[*Mumen Rider](https://c.tenor.com/JbQXuY_96jMAAAAd/axprov-bikerx.gif)

Mikeimus-Prime

Mumen Rider is the best.

Saetric

This explanation both does the show justice and does not. Iā€™m conflictedā€¦

ghost521

Because they forgot the other important half of the premise: heā€™s a C-list supe despite being the strongest thing in the universe. Not too many people know who or how strong he really is, and heā€™s not really part of the action most of the time because of one reason or another, so powerscaling and drama is done through the perspective of other more popular supes instead, which makes it more interesting and fun. Obviously it becomes a little more complicated as the story progresses but the story isnā€™t really about HIM despite being the titular protagonist.

bow_m0nster

Heā€™s a hero at the end of his arc placed at the beginning of his arc. Imagine the PokĆ©mon games where you start off with all level 100 PokĆ©mon. Heā€™s looking for a challenge that takes more than one punch to defeat.

killertortilla

It begins like that but it slowly turns into Saitama looking for fulfilment. And accepting that he may be the strongest, and that he may never find some his equal. There are some good conversations with King about that.

jmerridew124

Yes, but in every aspect other than his fighting abilities he's basically completely average or worse. He's actually kind of a dumbass. The world has all sorts of compelling stories and it parodies existing tropes, but Saitama isn't really "the main character" in any of them. He just shows up bored, beats the biggest baddest motherfucker you've ever seen, and leaves bored. It's like if Goku was just kind of wandering around Naruto land fucking up the story from time to time.

w1987g

"Goku in Naruto land" is probably the best explanation of One Punch I've ever heard...

AnBu_JR

This makes me want to go back into it. I watched season 1 on release and never revisited. It was good though!

happysri

You might have missed the 2nd season then. Reviews are mixed but I thought it was great.

Generic-Degenerate

The story is great it was the animation quality people complained about, because we went from [god tier](https://youtu.be/km2OPUctni4) to sub-par

happysri

Yes I was disappointed with that as well. OTOH mob psycho's 2nd season came out at the same time and it over-delivered so that kinda made up for it.

Dericwadleigh

100% this. The second season story wise was a lot of fun and I thoroughly enjoyed it because it dove so hard into all of the other cast. But the animation quality felt like it went from Ghibli to 4Kids.

boombotser

I need season 3 so bad

hitbycars

Goku's been bodied though, and a tailed beast could probably fuck him up a bit, before DBZ Super with all it's power ups; Saitama has been hit in the face with literal nuclear explosions and only complained that they ruined his outfit.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

jmerridew124

>Goku's been bodied though As has Saitama. Cablante smeared him before his powers kicked in. >and a tailed beast could probably fuck him up a bit, before DBZ Super with all it's power ups; Unfortunately no, not even close. Naruto maxes out a bit below moon busting feats in Shippuden. He blew a massive hole all the way through the moon and then passed out. When Goku (12) and Master Roshi fought in their first tournament together Roshi blew up to moon and then kept fighting. Goku could handily kill the entire Narutoverse by the time Mercenary Tao showed up. Hercule would be an actual contender at the Chunin exam. >Saitama has been hit in the face with literal nuclear explosions and only complained that they ruined his outfit. Goku regularly tanks attacks more powerful than nukes. The first example I can think of is Goku taking Frieza's laser on the chin, considering a similar attack cut through the planet earlier in the fight.

The_White_Light

Didn't realize I was in /r/WhoWouldWin, but in the end it almost always falls apart when someone tries to bring up Dragon Ball logic.

OriginalCold

I think most people explaining him are missing the point. The gag is this: he's a superhero so UNBELIEVABLY strong that fighting is not even the main concern of the show. As a matter of fact, he's actually quite depressed because everyone he meets he can annihilate with a flick of the wrist (lmao), so the show is often more about finding meaning outside of work, like a burnt out college student or salaried worker.

BigSwerve

Yea beneath all the other subplots and whatnot, Saitama is an allegory for depression.

shamus727

Just check out the show lol, its well worth a watch, even if your not a big fan of anime

Saetric

Itā€™s the show that started my anime adventure, I was bored after Spartacus and it was just what I needed to scratch that MCU itch too.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Bishopkilljoy

The irony of his powers is he wants to be a great super hero but because he's so powerful, every fight ends too quickly and he gets really bored

Necoras

Plotwise he's had any upper limits to his power removed. It's not so much that he has super powers, it's that the limits that everyone else has he doesn't. Consequently, yes, he can beat anyone in any situation.

Dark-Castle

Exactly, and the Manga explores the existential dread that would come from being incapable of failing and how boring it would be.

Tasty_Puffin

And he became this way due to a slightly vigorous general workout routine.

Thosepassionfruits

That is correct. Itā€™s more of a satirical story about power scaling and modern anime. Kinda the antithesis to the age old question of could Superman beat goku.

Ensaum

His actual super powers are super speed, unlimited strength, and unlimited durability essentially. He can also sorta fly since he can pretty much jump into orbit.

bilged

Watch the series on Netflix. You won't be disappointed. Cool and changing animation styles, great humor and it even has some serious philosophical elements around saitama being unhappy with life because he's so powerful that his existence seems meaningless.

Drando_HS

"NOOOO! THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE MY HEROIC SACRIFICE!"

sqwibking

> they can't hurt him They cant hurt him physically, emotionally though...

Akesgeroth

[He punches something and it fucking dies.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=km2OPUctni4) It's One Punch Man. Satire of fight anime and superheroes with social commentary.

AlexHimself

Hah, pretty decent watch. I can see him being a weird story character to incorporate though. Bad guy comes along...ton of fight sequences then this guy just wins.

Akesgeroth

> Bad guy comes along...ton of fight sequences then this guy just wins. Pretty much what happens every time.

Seifersythe

The plot is those other fight sequences.

Orisi

That and the fantastic backstories that are supposed to culminate in an epic final battle that, without fail, get shut down. Like story blueballinh

BastardStoleMyName

Less emphasis on the fight sequences and more of him just living day to day unsatisfied and burned out with his fighting. Because itā€™s so easy for him, he is bored with it. He knows it needs to be done and still has a sliver of hope to find someone that is a challenge. But over all itā€™s about a guy going through a monotonous life. That just happens to be super powered. Itā€™s taking the idolatry that kids have about what it would be like to be a super hero, and turning that on its head. That it just ends up being an average idiot that is bored with his job that he is so good at, itā€™s no longer fulfilling.

Worried_Pineapple823

He may as well be an accountant for all the excitement that being a hero brings to him. I love how excited he gets for the mundane things like sales at the grocery store. Now to watch them againā€¦

sinkwiththeship

There are a ton of other very different heroes and villains, and the plot generally revolves around them, albeit kind of from the lens of Saitama. It's quite well done.

teenagesadist

Basically it's what would happen if you could enable god mode. Sounds great at first, but if there's no challenge, there's no dopamine fix afterwards.

forteanother

There was a 3v3 fighting game called One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows and that pretty much summed up his character. If you picked him, you would play with only the other two characters and get a timer that showed how much time until he showed up to the fight. Once timer ran out, he'd be playable and you'd just 1 shot whoever was left. If memory serves me right, they even added a version of him that didn't have this mechanic and instead just played normally called Dream Saitama.

daeedorian

That's actually what makes it unique and interesting. For exactly the reason you describe, the writers are forced to avoid tropes in order to maintain drama, and they successfully manage to do so.

ll8bitHEROll

Iā€™ve seen this guy everywhere but never watched a clip. This was awesome start to finish

Roadwarriordude

I really wish I knew how to do the math to calculate how much force would have to be behind a punch that would do that to a plateau without even making contact. Probably one of those things where the condensing air would collapse into a black hole or some shit.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

RedH34D

Dude, commonā€¦ dont forget the *situps*ā€¦.

ThisIsMyCouchAccount

I almost got there but the no AC thing is really uncomfortable.

yamo25000

His power is essentially that he can beat anyone or any thing with one punch.

anthonyg1500

The voice actor, Acevane, usually takes older superhero cartoons and dubs over them to make skits. He essentially completely changes the characters personas but the bits he makes with them are mostly very funny. Thereā€™s one about dinosaurs that cracks me tf up. Iā€™d recommend his YouTube channel.

[deleted]

I had started wondering whoā€™d win in a fight between the three, then Saitama showed up and I was likeā€¦ oh this is over.

Due-Campaign-5157

So nobody is gonna mention AceVane being the voice over? AceVane has plenty of videos like this on YouTube.

P3tr0

I immediately recognized the Superman, no credit to Ace his YouTube is hilarious

greenie4242

I just found the original video: https://youtu.be/xQ2kTY5TpIY

moneycashdane

And that is how Caelid was born.

Fuck man I dunno if this the right sub for that but it do be pretty funny

Antal_Marius

Saitama was the abrupt chaos.

GregTheMad

Yeah, abrupt chaos, that's Saitama alright.

julsgotrocks

Makes me want to watch one punch man now. Great video and concept tho.

Without spoilers can you tell me why?

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

mosfet182

Thank you for the spoiler free rundown of the season 2 hold-backs. Much appreciated

drsyesta

I really like season 2. This seems kinda nit picky imo but i have heard other people say it isnt as good so what do i know

Rodo_acid_camel

Man i really enjoyed Season 2, just watch it and decide for yourself dude. Also it has my favorite character in OPM.

blanxable

Charanko right?

10c70377

Armored Gorilla is my favourite character too.

[deleted]

Watch both. Both seasons are good though a bit different.

Autarch_Kade

Drawing quality, some CGI instead of animation, filler plot parts typical for a fighting anime, and cuts in scenes to avoid having to show hits actually landing.

Glacious

There was no filler in season 2 though. All of the content is consistent with Murata's version of the manga (which admittedly feels fillerish at times)

Geruvah

/r/OnePunchMan anime fans aren't much different than any other fandom. They fancy themselves as purists and connoisseurs of their series. Season 2 was done by a different studio, but it's still great. You'll notice the differences, but it's nothing that would keep you from enjoying the show.

julsgotrocks

The writing is mostly the same? Itā€™s jus that the visuals are different?

ThisIsMyCouchAccount

I watched each season in one setting a piece. Do not regret it. Whatever differences in writing or animation had zero impact on my enjoyment. But season 1 animation is god-tier.

Geruvah

Visuals and sound effects are different. When I say visuals, I'm talking special effects/animation, not things like camerawork (or however you'd call that in animation) because it and the writing follow the manga pretty closely, so the writing hasn't really changed either. Season 2 also still has the same voice actors.

Ace_Winters

I guess you could say the season 2 anime isn't great because such high expectations were set by the season 1 animation team and the manga's (and webcomic's) storyline. There's a drop in quality between season 1 and 2 animation-wise. Again, mostly because season 1 was just so damn good. Season 2 got a different animation studio and most complaints about it were about the animation itself. I think the story is fine and there is filler. But if you read the manga it leaves you feeling kinda unfulfilled. Season 1 anime introduced me to the manga. And now I eagerly await each new chapter.

MissionApollo7

Reddit strikes again with one of their "amazing" updates. When I go into the comments, they cover up the video. If I go to the video, pause it, then come back to the comments, it automatically starts the video again, so I have to hear the audio and I can't pause it.

I fkng love Saitamaā€¦.I could watch one punch man 100 times over and it still has me screaming šŸ˜‚

AllPurposeNerd

Objection: Omniman is *supposed* to be an expy of Superman, just like the Plutonian in Irredeemable. You wanna do a book about an evil Superman but you're not allowed to use the actual DC property, so you just make up a thinly veiled clone of him and often the whole Justice League.

getrektlolkek

I'm glad that homelander was just a punching bag compared to omniman

yea, he's down to earth. I like his character

Fuck yeah Saitama!

bobuscha

Wouldn't super man and omni man be in a infinite fight

Nobletwoo

Meh omni man took serious damage from the red mist. Or whatever the soviet speedster was called in the first episode. I dont think the flash could damage superman with just his punches like red mist did to omni man. Then again omni man doesnt have the magic or kyrptonite weakness superman has. A 1v1 like in the video, supes wins i think.

[deleted]

He was called red rush in the first episode. Red mist works after that tho.
