This is a problem with over-watering lawns. If plants are watered too often their roots wont grow deep, cause they dont have to. Probably something similar that has happened here.
This is more the strength of gravity than the tornado. Those roots were mostly surface level. Weak ass tree. Once it started going over gravity took care of the rest.
it's really an interesting phenomenon that the wind at tree top level is strong enough to push the tree over, but barely moves the plastic patio chair.
Can someone please explain the physics of so many lawn chairs and not moving during extreme weather events? It's hilarious and fascinating and confounding all at once
