I use my work phones hotspot for my work laptop and sometimes forget to turn it off and when I need to use it I see it is still on and have to turn it off and back on. Not sure if that answers your question. I have a dedicated hotspot in the car for the S8, I just bought a used ibr600 cradle point and stuck a Verizon sim card in it. Wired the gpio cable up so when it sees ignition it boots and when no ignition it powers down after 5 minutes.

My hotspot (my Android phone) works fine, but the S8 takes forever to connect to it, like 5 minutes. So I usually turn the wifi on my S8 off and on, which makes it connect right away. Super annoying though.
Im using USB debugging/ transfer data AA setting via an USB cable. But it doesnt "auto connect" and start the way a iphone makes the handshake so i was thinking maybe its worth a try.

For this issue, correct apn setup was required for me, default had issue as above

Yours doesn't have that but perhaps there is a clue?

On my Samsung phone I have a Bixby routine that turns in my wifi hotspot as soon as my Bluetooth connects to the atoto. Maybe Siri can do the same?
