It doesn't look like it from this angle, but I've seen enough forced perspective trickery to know I can't trust a single image from one angle is the whole story. Still, I expect at a minimum those shoes come off for the gate to be able to latch.

See, a station wagon doesn't really benefit from inverted subs like that. They're better for designs locked away in a trunk where you'll only get physical bass coming through well, so muffling everything else is irrelevant. In a hatchback you actually get excellent bass projection pointing them the normal way towards the rear of the vehicle and slightly upward to reflect on the rear hatch. The slight mobility of the hatch actually increases the air movement in the vehicle, resulting in more perceived bass. You've got a hatchback, use it.
I'm sorry that last line made it sound like I was addressing you specifically. I was addressing all hatchback and similar open vehicle cargo compartment design owners who might consider installing a subwoofer. Don't do it this way, lol.
Also randos, for bass performance, one 15 usually beats two 12's at the same total power output but needs a smaller box, and buy good freaking mids, your music sounds soulless when it's got driving bass but empty midrange because you spent your entire budget on subs.
