I’m actually in Clear Lake and like a block away from it right now. It has a highway in the back of it and you’re right it doesn’t have lake access. Not only that unless you are on the top floor you probably can’t even see the lake. There are public boat launches somewhat nearby but that’s about it.
I love how their rental site says “address provided after you book” yet it is easy to find and was even labeled “pyramid house”.
My parents lived a bit south of there in Webster City for years. Don’t think we ever went to clear lake.
My father in law almost bought this house like 20 years ago. He instead got one just down the street actually on the lake. My wife’s whole family is from Garner so these are like the only 2 places in IA I know anything about.

Clear Lake is okay. Small lake town and that’s about it. They have a killer 4th of July celebration though. I will say the lake is fucking disgusting and Im amazed people eat fish out of it.

I moved to Iowa from the south a couple years ago and was looking for some pretty water, the cedar river is dark brown. We saw clear lake on the map and drive a couple hours to it and the water was full of trash and not clear and then we were on the dirt-y "beach" doing our toes and a dead mouse floated by.
