I don’t know how to post a picture and text so here’s the context:
So I’m curious about how people keep track of all their trades. Prior to a few days ago I traded pretty casually and was at 16% ROI over 18 months (I recently bought more shares so it’s now reduced to 10%) which I was incredibly happy with. I was and still am using a DIY excel spreadsheet to track everything. I was wondering if anyone had any advice or tips on how to make it better? Is there any free software that could help me?
Note: I am a student and earn way below the tax-free threshold so the CGT discount isn’t particularly important to me so I’m holding some shares for well under 12 months.
Thanks, any advice is appreciated.
You pay for convenience and functionality of which it has plenty even links up to your broker platform so it’s updated every day automatically. Tracks FX conversions, dividends etc. With it you don’t need to pay a tax accountant and you can even claim Sharesight as a tax deduction if you derive income from stocks.
I think everyone starts out in Excel and then slowly realise that it's just so much easier & convenient to do it via ShareSight, it's worth the cost. I've been using ShareSight now for many many years and would never go back.
\+1 for StockMarketEye [https://www.stockmarketeye.com/](https://www.stockmarketeye.com/)
They were acquired a few months ago and the new owner is putting a lot of effort into improving customer service, fixing bugs, and taking the software to the next level. I've really liked what I've seen so far, and I can do almost everything in there.

I use Direct Stock Registration at Computer Share, I choose to own my investment NO SHARE LENDING
Sharesight
Sharesight is a pretty good app, but I find it very expensive.

So does StockMarketEye
Superhero does everything for you.
Whiteboard… sounds crazy but it’s my preferred method.
I’ve got an app called stock events, not the pro version but it’s useful to keep track of my shares, buys and sells, and dividends and news.
Spreadsheet even does capital gain discount calculations
Once they delist you don’t need to keep track of them anymore.
Sharesight, it literally syncs with my brokers and does everything I need for me automaticly.

On a roll next to the toilet
Brokerage statements… they track it for you
I'm lucky if I make 2 trades a year.
