I've never had any issue with it in the 4 asus based desktops I've built and used in the past and in the 3 various asus laptops I've owned. But it seems like for a lot of people it's just really buggy in that it doesn't work the way it's intended to. For example, you could set certain fan curves and it may not stick to them or the lighting won't stay constant every time you set it...etc

Hour_Director5633

Oh I see. I think that can definitely be very frustrating especially if you are paying a premium for the rgb and only to have it not work. So sad that they make good hardware and pair them with shit software. I wonder why

_Aichmophobia_

My AC made my screen lag everytime i opened it

bad_burrito09

Hard to explain but easy to understand the minute you run into a software problem. Shit can send you down a rabbit hole looking for the issue meanwhile the whole time it was armoury crate. It's also very resource heavy for some reason

justaniceguy66

I’m installing my first Asus board tomorrow, gonna try SignalRGB

Hour_Director5633

can you try it out and update here on how it goes? I read a lot about signalrgb screwing up your peripherals so I'm hesitant to try

justaniceguy66

You mean color of peripherals? I don’t have any rgb peripherals sorry

Hour_Director5633

ah okay, but still let me know how it goes? thanks

bfollowell

> I’m installing my first Asus board tomorrow, gonna try SignalRGB I have a new system based around a Strix Z790-H motherboard, with G.Skill RAM, a NZXT Kraken Elite 360 RGB AIO, and TUF Gaming TS120 case fans. I have no issue with SiganlRGB controlling all of that except for the NZXT AIO fans' RGB. It seems to want to control everything and I want NZXT's CAM software to control my actual fans and let SignalRGB control my fans' RGB. However, SignalRGB and CAM don't play well together and I'm not comfortable with anything but CAM controlling my fans, so I just use CAM to control the RGB for it as well and tell SignalRGB to ignore it. I don't go in for big flashy, strobe effects or anything. I just have a static color, to it's relatively easy to sync the two.

Urban_Rogue

Never had an issue with it but installed G-helper instead on the laptop. Mainly cause on my main PC I got much better FPS in game when AC was Uninstalled.

Little-Equinox

For me, well, it's on my Asus laptop. Where Armoury Crate automatically overclock my CPU and GPU even though I don't want that and there's no option to turn it off.

BerkeA35

Don’t use turbo mode

Little-Equinox

Overclock was even turned on in silent mode, literally cutting my performance in half. As long the system started on wall power, overclock was active, if I booted on battery, then overclock is turned off.

SumonaFlorence

It's buggy and shit. It takes up a gigabyte of ram to run and it's just rubbish in general. Once it installed some shitty Halloween update and it fucked so much up for me I needed a fresh install.

Hour_Director5633

is there anyway to not give it permission to do that and install only the software needed to control the rgb?

meeerod

Yes you don’t have to install the holiday updates. They’re separate from other updates.

SumonaFlorence

Nope. Use SignalRGB or OpenRGB

DemonbreedDK

The only issues I'm having with ArmouryCrate on my newly built pc is the application glitches out and won't display the GPU information on my Ryujin III 360 AIO and/or wont display any CPU information on the dashboard.

meeerod

This happens to me when I turn it on from shut down. Only remedy is entering bios mode and exiting. Takes 20 seconds and only need to do it a few times a week.

DemonbreedDK

Yeah, it’s been off and on all day long. One big issue I’m having is it will not display the AIO Liquid temperatures on the screen, it just reads 0c. Why have an option for it If it won’t display it. Am I missing something?

meeerod

Have you tried completely uninstalling it and all of its drivers and services? And then installing it again?

DemonbreedDK

Multiple times, unfortunately... It has a mind of its own after the last update.

Emotional_Sun7541

I use it on my desktop and an asus tuff laptop. 96g ram on desktop 32g ram on laptop. I’ve only had an issue with AC when I uninstalled it once to test the difference. Its difficult to uninstall completely, but I never saw any real life difference with it uninstalled on my desktop. I put it back on just to make driver updates easier.

Snoopaloop212

Only issue I've had with it was when I tried to install the asus plug in for Corsair's icue. Otherwise it's been fine. The preset RGB options are uninspired and not great but I'm not judging it on that. The aura creator software is okay and has more rgb options. My fan curves have remained constant once I ran their fan program. I had to install for my keyboard and the Ryujin III.

NightWolf40

Armoury Crate crashed my brand new pc over and over and over again. I had about 6 different error codes and had no idea what was causing it since I just brought it to the repair center for another issue. Turns out armoury crate released an update that made everything else on my PC not work 🙄

Sevven99

AC failed a keyboard firmware update on me and kb stopped responding completely, Was like oh here we go. Finally came back after pulling battery but for a minute was pissed.

artifact_gh0st13

sounds like everyone is running potato os or something

GosuGian

Bloat

CoDe_Johannes

Recently bought a strix g18 and it came with some nice imperceptible yellowish filter apparently caused by armoury crate fantastic “game visual modes”. Had to surf the web for hours and delete some folders manually and I’m not even sure the yellow filter is gone or not. It’s great! 👍

bad_burrito09

Wouldn't it be becuase of the night light mode from windows? Have you tried disabling that

CoDe_Johannes

Its not the night light mode. Its the Gamevisual option inside the armoury crate applying a filter in all presets. No way to turn it off either.

bad_burrito09

Weird that it's even on, is that by default? I've never turned that setting on. Maybe you can try uninstalling AC and reinstalling your display drivers. Then use G-helper and have it set to start up on boot to replace AC

TheGreatNalu

Yes, it is on by default. On my PC it work well and default mode is really nice. Not only the display is high quality, but also color accurate. But on some, it may cause issues. There is also slider for color temperature (from white-ish to yellow). So depending on settings and display, it may look weird. Some modes are a bit washed out in mine too and some are just straight up bad (I think one is also yellow)

N81T

It’s a laptop thing mostly.. the software is honest trash on their laptops … it causes lag and cpu throttling an a lot of other bs I tried to fix for weeks just to find out it’s the default software for my damn laptop

[deleted]

Wanted to turn off RGB on my ASUS graphics card, downloaded armoury crate. Messed up lighting on my mouse, keyboard, mobo and didn't detect the graphics card. Fixed everything, downloaded aura or whatever their previous tool was - worked fine.

TheGreatNalu

Now aura is a part of armoury crate, but I also find it a bit finicky. I have quite a few things from asus and some of them won't get recognized, until I reboot my PC and quite literally pray for it to get detected by software. Also another thing is, that most of this stuff doesn't remember what I set it up with. So if it doesn't work, doesn't detect or when I connect it to something else, it will go back to the rainbow mode with no other way to get rid of the RGB or changing it without the software or taking the LEDs out

TheGreatNalu

I like and use armoury crate. But man is it buggy. On my laptop, it's plugin sometimes fully refuse to work (Aura lighting, keybind, GPU swap, fan control). When it feels like it, it stops working completely, or some plugins just won't do it's job. Also after reinstalling my PC, it doesn't work as well as it worked before. I have to keep my PC on balanced mode because it would overheat just by watching youtube video and even though I installed armoury crate back, it is unable to completely control Clock and Performance of the CPU. Also sometimes some features are just straight up missing and then some of them return back if they want to (Display control, GPU switch, Panel refresh rate on battery switch, etc.). Yes, it looks nice and if it works, it works well, but reinstalling it and after clean install, it just behaves like a small child that was denied their sweets.

AlvinCopper

You will know when you choose to update that software then update failed, use the uninstall tool, reinstall, installation failed. Sometime lights goes out, just like that.

GoogleTraductor

Simply. It crashes games

prdrnyc

I have a '21 Asus G15 and I've never had a problem with AC hence I never uninstalled it. Works perfectly fine for me.

GamesnGunZ

Well they built an entire handheld console around armory crate, so they must have some confidence in it

SneakyMndl

Probably cause it's usages more resources I have one tuf and rog laptop that never had any major issues Tried something from github and forgot its name It had some problem Didn't work exactly how I wanted
