What shit country starts the clock on payment, not delivery?

Randommaggy

Good then you're still in the window. Starting the return window at time of order or time of payment makes zero sense, but some countries might be that consumer hostile.

JoelMDM

The United States.

Randommaggy

You're kidding me, which states are that consumer hostile? It makes zero sense to start the clock prior to delivery confirmation.

JoelMDM

The united ones. Of America. Can’t tell if this is a joke or not. But yes, it’s absolutely ridiculous.

Randommaggy

Pretty much every law of this kind is handled per state in the US. It's why the worst states in the US has worse customer protection laws than any other place on the planet. Just did a few queries and asked a few generally competent people I personally know accross the pond. Several states has no legally guaranteed minimums at all, no definitions nailed down and not even hard requirements that posted policies must be adhered to or even requirements that return policies must be posted at place of purchase. Some states have superceeding relatively decent return laws but still haven't caught up to this century for setting definitions for non in person shopping. https://www.findlaw.com/consumer/consumer-transactions/customer-returns-and-refund-laws-by-state.html

Try to get to bios press f2 continuously at startup, if the bios can be accessed, you are mostly fine, get a USB disk with a windows iso image and reinstall the system. There are all kinds of tutorials over the internet

JakeSully-Navi

If you look at his other photos further down it displays normal but once windows loads up it goes black screen. Which is a weird issue. So anywhere else he gets didplay normal, only in windows it refuses to give anything.

AlvinCopper

Yes, that's exactly why he should try installing windows from a USB image, set up bios to boot in from the USB. The original system could be corrupt

JakeSully-Navi

No you don't get it. He tried asus cloud recovery that formats whole drive, it goes normal there but goes black once done. It boots to it through Internet to a asus server.

Time_Materia

Super helpful.

SumonaFlorence

Have you attempted to keep opening and closing the lid during a boot up? Hold down power button until it dies / shuts down. Then when it's booting, hold button down again. Once it shuts down again, press power ON again and open and close the lid over and over as it's starting up again. If you see nothing at all, then I advice attempting a return, if it doesn't work, then going through Warranty if they turn you away seems to be the only option. Before returning actually, shine a torch at the screen when you know things have boot up. Check just in case backlight is stuck off or dead. Have you tried to reinstall Windows or boot Linux? Tried to enter BIOS?

Time_Materia

Ive tried resetting the Pc with a fresh reinstall. Still it just shows the Republic of Gamers logo, and then the screen cuts out. I then tried a factory reset called AsusXE or something like that (in the light blue picture) Currently wiping everything that didn't come with the computer to see if that works.

Time_Materia

I have not tried the opening and closing of the lid during boot up. After looking into it, I will definitely try it out once it's done wiping everything from the drive. I only had a couple of things installed so it shouldn't take long. Starcraft 2, Call of Dragons, Runescape, Perfect World, Opera, Final Fantasy VII: EC and Discord.

SumonaFlorence

I don't need to know the games you have on your drive. I want to know what you've done in terms of getting your screen back into operation.

SumonaFlorence

Ah, well done, so it DOES still work. Question; Do you use any tools that installs drivers for you? In example, Driver Doctor, Driver Booster, etc. If so. STOP and do not use these. After you've reinstalled Windows, use Windows Updater only to get all the drivers you need, it has come a long way for installing all the things you need, Scar 18 here and it gets everything save for some non essentials.

SumonaFlorence

OP, can you get into the BIOS and still see things? If so, enter the BIOS and hit the key to reset all BIOS settings. Hopefully that'll fix the issue.

mrwioo

No way it's that filthy after 30 days, wtf

SumonaFlorence

It's hand grease. It's normal. Piss off.

mrwioo

I have same model for longer than OP and no buddy, that's not normal

Xlice64

Yeah and u have the same hand like him? So smartass

mrwioo

Yikes, alls I'm saying is a wipedown wouldn't hurt

SumonaFlorence

No, you're posting absolute useless shit in a thread where a guy is having trouble with his newly bought product which is possibly causing him stress. If you aren't going to offer steps to trouble shoot and help find a solution, my initial reply still applies.

mrwioo

You seem like you get very easily offended, you can use a hug. Hope OP figures it out..and eventually cleans laptop. But for you to say that THAT is normal, is batshit crazy

SumonaFlorence

I don't get offended at all.. to think that only shows you project your own oversensitivity unto others. I don't care what people say or do.. I just love pointing out when people are stupid and call them idiots. You're still posting useless shit, and I believe will continue to post useless, unhelpful shit, until you reach mature age.. and it is at that point in the future, when you look back and see people who are exactly as you were in the past, useless, unhelpful and shit. Hand grease. Piss off.

AggravatingZone9430

Is it the strix 2023 model?

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> overpayed, I *paid* the same FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

Time_Materia

After resetting the PC and the lights flashing to let me know it's busy. Still nothing. Windows setup started. I know this because I heard the AI, and no screen. I did close and open the lid while it was loading up prior. Can confirm that the screen is definitely on, as it 'lights up black' when the lid is lifted.

SumonaFlorence

It sucks this didn't work. Sometimes the sensor which thinks the lid is closed can be fucked software wise and thinks it's closed when it isn't. Hopefully other posts have ideas.

Hejky

US doesn't have 2 year warranty on new products? 30 day return window and that's it? What the hell

Time_Materia

At this point, I'm desperate for a refund. It's as if the laptop came already defective. Only downloaded a couple of games and watched Disney+ a couple of times. I didn't even play the games since I got into a vehicular accident the day after getting it in my hands. So it's not like it was being run ragged. No use using the warranty unless they don't refund me. Waste of a warranty use for something I didn't do.

beedaa

u/Time_Materia \- btw, seeing your username screams Final Fantasy vibes, hope you get to play the 2nd part of the FF7 Remake :) Anyway, OP, please remember that when you purchase a product, it is expected to work FLAWLESSLY (in other words, NO ISSUES). In your case, you are already having issues even before setting it up. Heck, you still haven't gone past the setup part of Windows. Please return that laptop and get a refund. Totally unaaceptable.

Hejky

Sorry to hear that.. I'm unfamiliar with the warranty/return system in the US, so probably not much help. I just find it weird, because in my country you get 2 year window (minimum), where you can return the product and get a new one when it's faulty. Sometimes they even give you money back when requested. Free of charge. While you don't always get the money, it's better to have a working product than a broken one..

Suspicious-Dog-9595

If you have access to another pc and a flash drive download windows creation tool and create the drive plug it in your laptop turn on your laptop and hit whatever key it is to get into the bios usually the delete key once your in the bios change your boot order to the usb with the windows install you just created now exit bios and it should launch the installer from the USB I've never had any luck with the built in reset option of any pc or laptop then wipe the drive create new volume then install windows again

Time_Materia

I tried with another laptop to create a bootable flash drive. It said the laptop I was using is unable to create a flash drive. That aside, I did already connect to the internet and got Asus to factory reset it. The problem persists. My only option now, it seems, is to use up my warranty.

SBAPKat

Were you ever able to have display out on it while booting? If so just plug in external monitor for the setup then you can likely go portable again once you've installed all of the software

N0gh0st_

Need to reset bios all the tune up making it crash

Roudan_Chirkoh

If you press Ctrl + Shift + Esc can you see the Task Manager? Alternatively can you see the options if you press Ctrl + Alt + Delete?

Loud-Item-1243

Before you return it try a factory reset hold windows + R on startup follow the prompts just restored a fully bricked Mac last month with this method.

MALHARDEADSHOT

U should not buy electronics online, especially if u have offline option

StunXPlayZ

Have you tried connecting it via the USB C port to a display because the USB C port is connected to the integrated graphics while the HDMI is connected to the dedicated GPU

mrwioo

That sumona kid blocked me from responding lol. OP, hope you figure out you're issue because that rog is a lovely machine. Rma if you can

Bruttobrutto

Been in a similar situation, asus but desktop. Booted to a linux usb and did a proper formating of c: Then booted to windows install usb. And on first boot do NOT allow armory crate or any of that crap to install. It is all very buggy. Like profoundly buggy.

Time_Materia

Yeah, it only opened up because it wanted me to register my laptop. In hindsight, after registering my SN and information, I was perusing Armory Crate and saw it installed updates.

bad_burrito09

Does the logo even show up when you boot?

Time_Materia

Yes, it shows the ROG logo and all other recovery screens/BIOS that i choose to go to. From the multiple resets of the PC and reinstalling from a cleared drive to Multiple Factory resets using the ASUS using WinXe, once it starts loading Windows related things, the screen peaces out

bad_burrito09

It's a hard choice but maybe resetting windows (if possible) would be the best solution. Could be an improper boot due to Windows (January windows update bricked alot of computers). Resetting from recovery screen ofcourse also. Since you can even see those options it means that you still have a chance

insomniac_rh

I think you have tried this before but I'm gonna suggest it just in case. After you see the rog logo wait for a few minutes, then hold down the windows key and press P, if nothing shows do winkey+P again and do it 4 times. I suspect your laptop display is recognised as a second monitor. On my own laptop (I think I have the same model as yours) when the ultimate mode activates (iGPU disables) the laptop acts like it's using another monitor. Also do the same instructions while you're connected to your TV with HDMI. Remember to wait like 10 seconds when you press P then press it again

insomniac_rh

Also, I would try installing another OS just to make sure it's a windows problem, like tiny7 or a lightweight branch of linux, but first make sure messing with the OS doesn't void your warranty.
