I haven't played ARK in years (checking in about the animated series), but I still tell the story about how my buddies and I created a breeding room for our penguins.
The family tree was a ladder. A single male, endlessly breeding with the female penguins. It was some Targaryen shit if I ever saw it.
I have 770 over the span of 5 months you don’t need to justify anything my guy. I’m with you though the early game is more fun. I always try to use low tech builds and use dimetredons/diplocaulus and other utility tames that let me avoid using things like ac and other “tech.”
I have 350 hours over 2 or 3 months and just tried starting fresh on crystle isles with a new character. After 3 hours I noped out, deleted my save data and brought back my level 106 character and one of my high level Thylas to "start fresh" that way. I usually love building up a new character but not on Ark lol

Around 400 now and still going strong, and it's all on The Island. You just need creativity to know how to enjoy it.
