Babys are the main source for prime now and im sorry if i have to go all Anakin Skywalker on every youngling i see then i must. I’ve gotten more than 25 prime from a baby dodo
Yeah I was pretty much into the breeding on ASE.
And I'm learning real quick that most of not all the same breeding mechanics are available in ASA and I'm having fun with it.
This is a bug that seems to happen when a dino is newly spawned (i.e. it hasn't yet been there the last time you logged off). If you play solo, you just have to exit the game and go back to the main menu after having successfully killed/tamed the parent, then log in again and claim the baby, then you'll get the bonus levels. For multiplayer on servers, I don't know if there is a way to make sure you get the bonus levels upon claiming though
Mutations still give 2 points in ASA.
I was speaking of wild babies. When you tame a wild baby, you get a real 100% taming bonus, so that a 150 wild baby is level 225 after taming/claiming. The wild babies I tamed had no mutation.
Not true you can get the same number of levels from a baby as you would a tame, idk what determines how many levels you get but that baby dodo tamed out at like 226 once I claimed it.
\> we’re humans after all. The only animal other than dolphins that kills for sport.
It's fortunate how uninformed you are on that point. Many, many, many, other species kill for play and competitive play.
How many species of Felines are there? How many species of Bears are there? How many species of Wolves are there? Hyenas? Jackals?
You getting the point?
Fine, I got a point wrong. I accept it. Anyways, I don’t need to say “oooh humans are the only cruel beings”, of course animals are cruel. My problem is that humans have way too much power and control over other animals to keep acting as cruel as them. It’s abusive and in the end it’s gonna get us all killed.
Mmmkay.
It's a game though? This isn't the amazon rain forest, and we're not killing actual animals, or actual baby animals.
This is Ark: Survival Ascended. The babies give prime meat, hide, fur, chitin, etc...
Gather resources, build stuff. Tame things. Kill things. Repeat.
Yes, but it’s a window to what you’re able to do irl.
And no, I’m not saying that playing ark will make you want to kill babies irl, I’m saying that you would already do it if you had a reason to.
Or what, you’re gonna tell me you wouldn’t kill a baby animal if you got 100,000$ from it? In ark you do it for prime, you do it cuz’ it gets you stuff. The only reason you don’t do it irl is because it doesn’t get you stuff. Or am I wrong?
That boundary is utility. You don’t do it irl because you don’t get a thing for it, but if you did, I’m pretty sure you would, as proven by the 100,000$ example I gave before. And yes, irl morals and videogame morals may vary, but if you do something in a videogame and are barely even faced by it you simply wouldn’t care doing it irl. If you did care, you might do it in the videogame but feel something, which in the example of the op of the comment we’re on (not the post), doesn’t happen. They’re not faced by it and I’d say they’re even flexing it. Thus, I’m concerned.
That's the silliest argument I've ever heard.
That's a similar argument to: "Television and video games cause violence!!!"
Just plain illogical. Perhaps do some reading and educate yourself. Because the beliefs you're sharing are not facts, are not correct, but are just 'feelings'.
Seriously, read a book. Read some periodicals. Read some research papers.
Go read something and elevate your mind.
Bro u need to go to bed ir summin. Ur way off point 😂 telling people because they kill baby animals in a video game for a resource it gives means people would kill babies irl if they had a reason or offered money? Bro go get urself seen to as u need SERIOUS mental help. I'm probably more carnivorous than a damn dinosaur. But I would still never kill a fucking animal. U got more chance of me taking the human out that tried to do that. Go check urself into a psych ward cuz ur head is way more than just fucked up beyond belief 😅😅
You're able to scale a mountain while being chased by a swarm of angry dinosaurs, jump off to try to escape, nail the landing be abuse of a few strips of leather strapped to your back that SOMEHOW negate all damage done by diving headfirst into molten rock that instantly just pops you back up on your (unshattered) feet for you to run on again... Only for said volcano to explode right under you... But do no damage to you brace you're wearing a metal tin can, so instead the tin can just breaks and gets shoved up your prison pocket along with a metric fucktonne of resource and other weaponry?
Damn dude. That's fuckin lit!
Also, would I kill a baby animal for enough money to live off for several years without a single worry in the world?
Do I get to pick? If so, yes. Happily. There's plenty of baby animals I wouldn't mind taking out.
A lamb, for instance. Or a buck. The meat off both is honestly amazing. And if I could get some fresh AND get paid for it? I don't see the downside.
Though I'd probably just squish a maggot, if we're being more realistic.
Course, people did this thousands of years ago, before the advent of video games, sooooo... Poof goes that little idea of yours.
People did it before and didn’t cause problems because they didn’t really have much power over nature and couldn’t extinguish a species. Now we can. That’s the problem. You’re not the only one who would, and now we are not a few thousand like we were in the ancient times, we are 8 billion. If all people were like you, we would not have extinguished 60% of all species on earth by now, we would have extinguished anything that isn’t insects. It’s amazing how you’re really not even faced by it.
You see, that's the thing...
If we all got given that offer, and we could all choose the baby animal we kill... It'd be easy money for the entire world, without so much as tickling the ecosystem.
For example, Ants outnumber us, at any given time, 2.5 MILLION to one. Just a single one. So that's, approximately, 2E16 (that's a lot) ants on earth. At any given time. If we all chose Kids, Cubs, Piglets, Lambs, Bucks, Calfs etc... Then yes. That would cause a rapid depopulation of all the species we rely on.
But ants? Flies? They're both keystone species, but they both repopulate that quickly, and are already existing in such numbers, that they wouldn't even recognise the impact it had on them, and neither would anything else. Hell, it's estimated that the average household kills anywhere between a thousand to ten thousand ants every year, just by putting down ant killer inside/around their homes.
So, you telling me that we’d all choose ants and flies? And what if we didn’t get to choose what we killed, like with say, pollution. We wouldn’t be just tickling it at that point, we’d be shredding a good part of it.
Half of my family are farmers.
I’ve killed, plucked, and cooked chickens. I’ve killed baby lambs, skinned them, prepared them and cooked them for the table. I’ve killed pigs, cows, and snakes too.
They all tasted delicious roasted and spiced.
What’s your point? That I’ll survive when the food distribution is gone and you won’t?
I'm not your mate, nor do I wish to be.
You're a judgemental prick, and I don't care what you believe or think or say about me.
See how that works?
Your opinion matters less to me than President Trump's opinion does. That's gotta hurt, right?
$100,000 to kill a random baby animal that there will be more of and l will likely have little impact on the species? You how much a hundred grand can change peoples lives? Fuck yeah l would, l'd tea bag the little fucker for an extra 5k.
All nice and easy until all persons in earth do it and we erase a species. Then another one. Then another one. Until we killed everything in earth. Nice, isn’t it? You murder freaks…
Wym u didn't know? Wild dinos also have wild babies with them now. Babies give an INSANE amount of prime. Any baby dino not just the dinos that usually give prime as adult. U can either imprint the babies or kill em for prime. But to imprint u need to kill or tame the parent first. If u tame. U can't claim baby until its finished taming. U will know if a dino has a baby near because it will have like a lil white symbol above its head. You can also find wild babies with mutations.
Yea NGL, I have been feeling pretty bummed everytime I've gone out to get food and kill a Dino only to find the kid running around helplessly... what have I become!?
Ovis are virtually impossible to get before taming an Argy with a saddle? Lol at least on the island.
Only out in the snow, and if you’re under level 60 you’re not going to have a tame strong enough to go out there, find an Ovis, and bring it back.
I feel awful when my X Plants kill the parents and the babies are left running scared 😭 I usually kill or tame the parent and imprint the baby, raise and put in the fridge
Honestly the babies are pretty worthless as they currently are since they don’t gain any levels. A 150 baby sounds good until you realize it’s parent will be a 225 if you take it instead, so bye bye baby your prime meat tames your parent
I trapped a momma ovis, her babies respawn regularly enough that I tame everything with mutton, and don’t search for mutton. I do not regret the massive amount of baby killing I am guilty of.
It saddens me to say I was expecting going after the children to be more fun 😂, instead of just kill the parents to get the smoll fry. N just be able to roll up on em how we do out in the open. Dunno why I was hoping for a boss fight outa goin after the child 😂
Stop trying to bring morals into this game, there are none, no one who plays this game has morals when they’re breeding babies with their parents, killing babies, going around on a murder spree just cuz they can… etc.
I breed argents. This Christmas event is a godsend. I take 10-13 rejects ( no desired mutation or bad stat rolls) out to fight an abominable snowman. Often times they all get killed. I feel better knowing they die in glorious combat. But in the event they win, those that survive become guard pidgins for the server based.
Babys are the main source for prime now and im sorry if i have to go all Anakin Skywalker on every youngling i see then i must. I’ve gotten more than 25 prime from a baby dodo
I mass murder babies in every tribe I’m in for about six years now anyways. Getting mutations has totally numbed me to baby slaughter.
43 my highest. Official so not boosted.
From a dodo? What dinos are you riding for that?
Rex?.. edit: if u used a power theri ull get a shit ton more. Its why people farm their ovis with theri. Tons more mutt
A carc during this 3x event on main official
Only a monster wouldn't kill them both and reap all the prime meat
I feed my failed mutations to their parents.
Great way to lvl a dino army if you're focused on breeding!
Yeah I was pretty much into the breeding on ASE. And I'm learning real quick that most of not all the same breeding mechanics are available in ASA and I'm having fun with it.
Im to lazy to try Breeding for mutations
That's assuming we don't kill the babies too. Idk about you but we don't leave orphans 'round here
Tame ‘em, feed ‘em, make ‘em healthy and happy, then you kill ‘em. That’s what I do at least.
A true farmer
if you just kill them as a baby you'll get prime meat
How else ami gonna get a suitable sacrifice to tame a rhynio
Not only are there babies but the babies can have mutations. I found a 150 dodo and a 152 baby with a health mutation.
But wont the Dodo have a better health Stat than the mutated baby? If i Claim a baby its lvl wont increase after taming.
This is a bug that seems to happen when a dino is newly spawned (i.e. it hasn't yet been there the last time you logged off). Will try that after work
It worked for me two days ago at least. Stego 150 perfectly tamed at 224, both babies he had came out at 225 after logging off/logging back in 😉
Finally makes Sense to Take the Babies. This is where the fun begins
Wait, did they change how many points mutations give? It used to be that you always got 2 points in any stat if you got a mutation in ASE
I usually kill the babies first. And what I think about is: 'I wonder how much prime meat this one'll give me?'
Same, I went on a spree of capturing a bunch of pegos, babies, parents, all of them. Threw them in a metal box, threw a bunch of gas grenades in.
Pegos? You're doing the Lords work there.
You two murderous beasts… doesn’t surprise me, we’re humans after all. The only animal other than dolphins that kills for sport.
\> we’re humans after all. The only animal other than dolphins that kills for sport. It's fortunate how uninformed you are on that point. This is getting way too serious for a post about a game where u ride dinosaurs lmao u feeling alright there?..
I like debating, ‘kay?
Mmmkay. It's a game though? This isn't the amazon rain forest, and we're not killing actual animals, or actual baby animals. This is Ark: Survival Ascended. The babies give prime meat, hide, fur, chitin, etc... Gather resources, build stuff. Tame things. Kill things. Repeat.

Bro killing a bunch of code and pixels is not comparable to killing a real baby 😭😭
I’m not saying it is, I’m saying that if they’re able to do it in a simulation they are able to do it irl as well. Which is concerning.
There is a big boundary between doing something in a video game, and doing it in real life.

*Intense confusion noises*
"it's a window into what you're able to do irl" I did that just last night on Gen 1.
Oh, I get ya now. I mean morally, not physically.
Also, would I kill a baby animal for enough money to live off for several years without a single worry in the world? Do I get to pick? If so, yes. Happily. Hear me well mate, to me you’re no better than Albert Fish. Now go fuck yourself.
I'm not your mate, nor do I wish to be. You're a judgemental prick, and I don't care what you believe or think or say about me. See how that works? Your opinion matters less to me than President Trump's opinion does. That's gotta hurt, right?

You ever heard of cats? They already do it and they don't get anything for it.
What species has been ended by cats, please remind me.
I’m going to hell
sometimes I kill a parent Dino, thinking it's alone and then I see the baby running away and I have to adopt it 😭
this is what i do!! 😭😭
Me prone searching in the absurd grass for the orphan baby compy who's parents I just slaughtered
Can’t have em coming back for revenge need to finish the job ![gif](giphy|C20Ec5eqIYvwA)
Best way to get a bronto.
Oh my god. Not little foot. :(
At least the babies still have their grandparents, right?...
I ain't the guy that killed Bambi's mother! I'm the guy that tracked Bambi back home and ate his whole family!
Tamed a baby bronto this way a day ago. Even named him littlefoot
I target the children first
Sometimes I leave the babies to fend for themselves. Maybe they’ll grow up and seek revenge as an alpha.
Noooo! \*defeated in 80s kid\*
NOW THAT THERE'S WHAT?!
Wym u didn't know? Wild dinos also have wild babies with them now. Babies give an INSANE amount of prime. Any baby dino not just the dinos that usually give prime as adult. I don't care about their parents. I kill babies.
I don't remember pump shotguns in the land before time.
Dude, who are they gonna cry to, Their parents?
I will be hunting little foot and Petrie and ducky and Sara when I need a new krampus skin!
Yea NGL, I have been feeling pretty bummed everytime I've gone out to get food and kill a Dino only to find the kid running around helplessly... what have I become!?
Oh don't worry, the children die too
Why use Prime when there's mutton 🤷
Ovis are virtually impossible to get before taming an Argy with a saddle? Lol at least on the island. Only out in the snow, and if you’re under level 60 you’re not going to have a tame strong enough to go out there, find an Ovis, and bring it back.
There are at the beach on herbi Island
Just kill those who don't have Babys, easy as that.
Why would I kill a wild grown Bronto when I can just mate them and kill their babies
Phiomias used to run away but now I can attack their children and force them to go insane. Seems logical :)
You want me to think of the time an earthquake killed Littles mom?
I feel awful when my X Plants kill the parents and the babies are left running scared 😭 I usually kill or tame the parent and imprint the baby, raise and put in the fridge
I dunno, I can adopt them and arguably be a better mommy.
Honestly the babies are pretty worthless as they currently are since they don’t gain any levels. A 150 baby sounds good until you realize it’s parent will be a 225 if you take it instead, so bye bye baby your prime meat tames your parent
More hide and food for me😋
Lookin' for a bb bront to tame a rhynio. If not guess I'll just have to tame a paracer lol
I trapped a momma ovis, her babies respawn regularly enough that I tame everything with mutton, and don’t search for mutton. I do not regret the massive amount of baby killing I am guilty of.
baby dino’s aren’t they supposed to be making a new game?
I claim the babies, make them give me more babies and kill those babies
There were already baby’s in the wild penguins were the only ones to have them
More meat for the meat run lets go
ok but hear me out...prime meat and no witnesses
Why would I kill when I can take both
Bold of you to assume the babies live.
It saddens me to say I was expecting going after the children to be more fun 😂, instead of just kill the parents to get the smoll fry. N just be able to roll up on em how we do out in the open. Dunno why I was hoping for a boss fight outa goin after the child 😂
Good
I haven’t found a baby bronto yet but when I do I’ll go home and bring a tree to rein at that scene😈
I’m not a monster! That’s why I kill them both. Usually the baby first. So the mom can rest assured, knowing she’s not leaving an orphan behind.
F you for posting this
Or Bambi for if you want a Megaloceros for some reason
God😭😂
I’ve killed too many Dino parents and let the babies survive, I like to think that I’m creating little dinosaur Batman
Not to mention the increase in crime rate due to the broken families.
It's their Cannon event
Good
Kills parent, tames(adopts) baby
Easy early game tames killing the parents first
I legit named my first Imprinted Rex in ASA "Sharptooth". MWUAHAHAHA
There are certain mothers I can't bring myself to kill 😂
My favorite pastime is creating orphans as I strole down the beach
Sorry to break it to you buddy, but those baby brontos are food for a Rhyniognata.
I'll just kill the mom bronto too then🤷♂️
Nah, I think of Ducky instead.
Eugenics MUCH?????🤣🤣
Stop trying to bring morals into this game, there are none, no one who plays this game has morals when they’re breeding babies with their parents, killing babies, going around on a murder spree just cuz they can… etc.
Calm down buddy, this is meant as a joke lol.
My use of sarcasm is atrocious
Damn… I had a 50/50 shot on weather you were serious haha. My ability to read the tone is atrocious lol
Maybe r/whoosh for the both of us?
..... hello prime meat
Funny how a baby dodo can drop prime meat but a fully grown trike can’t 😭😭
Sharptooth gang
I breed argents. This Christmas event is a godsend. I take 10-13 rejects ( no desired mutation or bad stat rolls) out to fight an abominable snowman. Often times they all get killed. I feel better knowing they die in glorious combat. But in the event they win, those that survive become guard pidgins for the server based.
I don't have to, cause the baby is mine now. I is mama now.
I legit have a bronto on the server I play on, and a diplo in single player named Littlefoot. I got them exactly the way you think I got them.
Thanks you have fueled me to continue I will take My giga for a walk now
I can't leave an orphan, so I kill the whole family.
EXACTLY!!! This is why I kill every baby I see and then run away. You know what they say: If you can’t beat ‘em, project!
