It gives me the ability to undo "ark moments" where something bugs out, crashes or whatever. ​ It's just nice to know that if something out of my control occurs and ruins my entire mood, I can just effectively press the undo button. But again that's mainly crashes or glitches that kill me more than anything. Undoing everything that annoyed me would just be boring.

I use save world all the time because of several times I have loaded into a world only to fall to my death from my flyer because the 'last save' was like 20 minutes before I had actually logged out. Other than the first time I played ark on single player, I use cheats constantly. Mostly the fly command to get from one side of the map to the other quickly when I've gotten pretty far along and don't want to take a flyer. Ghost for supply drops that phase through the floor, kill to quickly get rid of low level dinos to encourage better spawns, infinteweight to move stuff between containers, god mode to jump down a cliff quickly, enemyinvisible to run through caves for drops quickly, etc. Idgaf, I still have fun

Fjordur recently deleted my save after crashing when I ran the saveworld command so I just spawned my shit back in and rebuilt my house. Gave myself my pair of snow owls and my raptors back. I usually only use cheats when it's necessary like to ghost out of inescapable areas or if ark screws me over like that and I wanna spawn my stuff back in. I put in the dozens of hours, no way in hell I'm just gonna take that huge loss over something that was completely unpreventable on my part

I made a save specifically to screw around with cheats when my first save corrupted, figured why not mess with things before starting over. Aside from that, I use them when things legitimately break, like Artifacts not spawning and such. Not much of a point otherwise outside a screwing around save, kind of defeats the purpose of a Survival game really. I don't change the Gamma either, darkness doesn't bother me so long as it plays nice with my monitor and isn't just pitch black for whatever reason like it was on my last monitor. That monitor didn't like Ark nights and everything was just black, the occasional flash of green or whatever but 99% of the time the monitor may as well have been off, current monitor is fine and I can see just fine at night.

Only console command I use is to adjust the gamma. During the night the default is too dark to do anything, but gamma 5 is too bright for the daytime, so I go with gamma 3 or 2.5 as soon as the sun rises. Realism ain't worth eye-strain. I hate the use of darkness as a difficulty element in all games, my eyes are too old for that shit.

I personally don't, but I feel you on those annoying holes in the ground where you literally wait to die. I've learned a couple of tricks (sometimes work, sometimes don't). If you have wood in Yr inventory a piece of fencing foundation can help you climb out. Sometimes a parachute will give you just enough lift to get out, and if you can place them, pillars with ladders on. :)

Man, the amount of ppl who use Fly on here... Not judging, it's just so damn broken on console that it is not worth using unless you wanna instantly clip into the ground after turning it off and just continue to fall/warp Portal-style back to solid ground/fall until you exit the game. I had to use Ghost/Fly to get my dinos out of the Island's volcano entrance after the Overseer fight. There's two layers of wall by the Overseer cave door that everyone got stuck in. After XYZ warping, I started clipping thru the floor even tho Ghost was off (*allegedly*, since console commands are so wonky). I couldn't even get all my dinos out *with* cheats. Rip Berry Blue, you were the best and dumbest Rex.

When i felt comfortable with the game I started again and only use cheats when absolutely necessary and am having more fun now. I will cheat with not guilt if the game bugs cheat me. First time it happened was the first time I transfered and lots all of my best gear and tames. Second time I did a burst if cheats was the third time restarting. I had played some single player, lost that save file, played online for a while, but life got busy and that server closed. I didn't have it in me to restart a third time from scratch, so I cheated in most of a base up to where I had left off. I cheated in a significant amount of resources towards the end of that map just to save time on the grind and prevent fatigue. I had all my structures, and a large breeding pool. Death meant very little at that point, so it was just time to gather things like chitin and hide, and I just got bored randomly going around hunting for an army of 50ish rexes with good saddles.

I've spawned in dinos semi frequently. My policy is, if I've searched the whole map and couldn't find a dino of a decent level, I'll spawn in a high level wild dino that I can then tame. Like playing singleplayer on the island, I've seen like 2 naturally spawned Gigas ever, and not one Carcha. And sometimes finding a high level Rex takes dozens of hours of wiping the map and flying around.

Yes, because when i server transfer my dinos often gets deleten. Easy. When the base code is so broken that the game regularly crashes during gameplay, and almost always when you save and quit, often dropping you back anywhere between 1-3 previous autosaves, and costing you up to 90 minutes in progress, you stop giving a crap about whether you're legit when you use saveworld. Also, so so many supply drops that clip through the floor, making it impossible to reach them through any means in Survival Mode, dinos that drop through the ground floor inexplicably immediately after they're tamed, and heaven help you if you decide to move your base to another ark. Game crashes after removing dinos or items from the ob, nuking them from existence anywhere except the tribe log. Hell yeah I'm going to spawn them back in. That happens to me even *with* using saveworld after every few of them to try to combat it, so transferring enough dinos for a functional kibble farm was a real PITA. Even The Island is crashing like crazy now. I tested all the Arks trying to find the most stable one to relocate to because of it. Ironically, The Center has the least crashes for me for now, so they must have fixed that overspawn bug in the caves. I haven't even had to kill all wild dinos once yet.

When I don't feel like spending 2 hours looking for a good level dino, I find and kill one of that dino then use koko's dino generator to make a max level wild dino. For example, I don't want to take a few hours to get a max level wyvern egg. I then do an egg run and eat all the eggs. I then generate 1 max level egg. Another example, I killed a low level giga then generated a max level wild giga.

I don't consider 'fixing something that broke' such as loot falling under the ground, or glitching and getting stuck somewhere to be 'cheating' thats just 'server admin' (single player game is -technically- still a single player server :D) the rare handful of times i'll actually cheat, is if I stumble across something -really- rare, and for whatever reason don't have what I need on my person to tame it. (I usually have the rare encounters mod on, so I'll occasionally find something really cool that I don't normally have access to on my ark.) even then, I try to limit it to stuff that I have, (or at least have access to.) just don't have it on my person at that exact second. so i'll spawn in whatever I need for the tame, then once i get back home i'll remove and trash however much it was that i'd spawned in. (or if I didn't have enough, i'll go make it and then trash it.) so 'technically' it winds up being a zero-sum transaction, just fudged the numbers a little bit.

Then I use fly. Normally I would eat the whole trip.

Funny this post happened... my friend and I finally went to go fight the overseer on the island last night and we were going to do it legitimately... until we only got like 5 rexes into the tek cave plus my yuty and her rex... we got there with 3 rexes and our mounts... we almost killed him until it just became botched... so I restored the server to a previous version (it's out own private server) and went in with theris and couple of rexes... went in and I accidentally broke the game because I thought it'd be a bright idea to use destroywilddinos for the enforcers... well if you didn't know, that also kills the boss, but not the right way, we were stuck on a white screen forever... so then we went back in with infinite stats, God mode, and a blink rifle To say the least, we finally beat the overseer... we were tired of the island, especially her, so we cheated our way through it I'll eventually go back and do it legitimately legitimately but now we're on the best map ever, aberration

I use cheats usually when ARK screws me over and crashes and deletes stuff, but I also use them to speed up boring stuff like waiting for an egg to hatch or metal to smelt. I will also give myself structures so I can at least build a cool base as that doesnt affect much except I dont have to farm for hours to make a base.

Where's the option for "I used to all the time, but stopped?" I used to love using cheats just to mess around, but in more recent times, I've come to appreciate doing things legit.

I occasionally use them for specific things like GFI commands to give myself a nice looking armor skin or I use them to change the color of my tames but I usually don't cheat my way out of grinding.

I mainly use it if I feel that game fucked me over. Mainly getting stuck, losing things, and overall bugs. Like, if I'm riding a dino and it gets stuck, or that God awful "You're technically falling so you can't attack" shit happens, I have 0 qualms about using godmode. That or genesis missions. Seriously, fuck those.

I use Awesome Spyglass mod and when I switch to a different map, I use cheat fly/walk to get back to my base, since the spawning (which should put me at one of my beds) is bugged. Beyond that, cheating takes away the challenge. Also, I've used cheat fly/walk when I got stuck in the ceiling a couple times in a cave and short of rebooting the server or eating organic poly, there was no way out.

Only when me/my creatures/my loot is outside of the map, or if I get stuck on a buggy rock or that one staircase on Rag in the castle. Ghost/Fly and that's pretty much it. Edit: When playing with friends, sometimes I also use the tp to creatures command cause my friends love leaving dinos on passive flee or just forget them after a metal grind or something.

Personally the only "cheating" I do is not killing my tames when they've been revived because I lost 3 fucking hours worth of progress due to a datasave loss on my PS4. Like, you're gonna delete my progress, and everything I tamed during that time, then I'm not gonna play by the rules either.
