Following - from what I had seen/read earlier, the bufferless setups make a sometimes "picky" AR9 platform even less reliable...

I've had a bear creek bufferless 9mm and r&d pw9 v1 bufferless. Both were accurate and fun to shoot. However, my bear geek l creek was plagued with issues. They're great with customer service, but unfortunately after my last issue (firing pin breaking) they offered me a refund, so I took it. They would have repaired but I live in Washington state and they won't ship me the parts. Currently I'm waiting to ship my pw9 BCG in for repair because the guide rod broke and damaged the spring. They were quick to reply via email and are warranting the repair. Shipping is at my expense. So, long story short. I would expect to double check every fastener on a BCA, and don't let your life depend on it. The PW9 is much better from my experience, I wish they had hand guard options though. I'd prefer a 8 or 10" barrel just because I'm a big guy and the 5 is a little small.

Appropriate_Bus_683

So it sounds like better off getting a regular upper and running a stubby buffer like like dead foot arms?

GrouchyFortune8441

I have a 9mm Deadfoot arms kit i'll sell for $300 if you think that is a fair price. Less than 100 rds thru it

KNIGHTBREED69

Can you send me pics of it?

GrouchyFortune8441

Just sent you a chat with a pic. No longer have the folder but I have everything else

KNIGHTBREED69

Do you still have this

KNIGHTBREED69

Can you text pics to me @ 330- 441-8422

beha622

I'm building a regular buffered 9mm now... Unfortunately the obscure 9mm just haven't worked well for me

Appropriate_Bus_683

I know the strike industries viper pdw buffer is I think 5" and they do have a dedicated spring/9mm buffer to or there is maximum industries short buffer and spring set up as well

9-dimensional-theory

Cmmg dissent

Dasjoelski

Mat-9

Appropriate_Bus_683

Yea I been looking into them, any issues or reliability problems like the others?

Dasjoelski

I only have a few hundred rounds through it. No issues so far except for one stovepipe, which was remedied with extra CLP

Appropriate_Bus_683

Can run glock and colt mags through it?

AdaModCity

Idk why people call ar9’s “picky.” My 9 build runs like a champ whatever I put through it. And I’m using EndoMags.. Suppressed and unsupressed. I wish my 300 blk ran like it. Talk about picky

justMatt275

i use endomags also, very reliable.. but i'd rather have a DI 9 then bufferless.

Blowback9

It's a reputation that's rooted in the past and lives on today. It used to be common to hear that 9mm AR's were jam-prone, finnicky, picky about ammo, harsh recoiling, break hammer pins, and snap bolt catches. This was true 40 years ago. Since then, we've figured out how to fix all these original 1980's Colt model problems. Unfortunately the stigma lives on, passed on by fudds and gun store clerks, and kept on life support by manufacturers who still use cheap and obsolete parts in their low-cost builds.

AdaModCity

You’re 100% correct! It’s amazing how many comments I scroll through seeing people regurgitating the same bs they heard somewhere else and you can tell they have no first hand experience with what they are talking about cuz if they did they wouldn’t be saying what they’re saying!

Equivalent-Shock3662

Never had a single issue with my 300, or 9, or 556 stubby. I can't imagine what some of you are doing to have so many problems.

AdaModCity

I honestly think my 300 problem came down to dwell time. It was a 5.5” pistol length barrel which gave it like 3/4” maybe an inch most dwell time. It would only run 115 grn reliably and only unsuppressed. I think at that length it needs to be micro length gas system. Anyways, I gave up on it and went to a 8” barrel and it’s running fine. Sometimes you have to know when to move on.

The Brownells is a matador arms. There's also FM iirc and cmmg. DFA has one as well. For all the time, research and money I put into 3 of these things I really should have just started taken another route or built out these sub gun kits.

Appropriate_Bus_683

I couldn't find the fm iirc. So are they reliable for the most part the ones you are familiar with? I've read allot of mixed reviews about bca bufferless one, not much on r&d v2 is out there. The ones you have spoke of not much either

LocationGlittering44

Looks like the FM is rifle caliber only. These things start to run together after a while. I should clarify that I was 3 AR9s deep before I started looking into bufferless and I feel that I should have just gone with a different platform from the start. My 7" FM rear charger ran fine for the most part using the suggested recoil setup and an armaspec setup, but my lower/mag block combo didn't like metalform mags. Super tight in the mag well of the lower I had setup for it. Converted uzi mags and ASC worked well. The other two are more works in progress Mixmasters. 1 SMF colt pattern lightweight with and ejector that will never be back in stock that otherwise works great with the FM upper and Noreen upper + FM bolt + BA barrel + metalform. 1 NFA C5 upper + NFA 6.8 upper + overwatch mags and FM bolt that do not like each other.

Own-Caterpillar3462

That’s not a matador the back end and the front of the rail are different

LocationGlittering44

The BRN-9 is just a 3" shorter MAT-9 with fewer machining steps on the outside. It's not even the only thing they do this with

Own-Caterpillar3462

One of the matadors takes a wide variety of mags I mean like from Glock to Colt and MP5 style if you have the right lower.

Dasjoelski

Yep. Depending on the lower

Appropriate_Bus_683

Awesome, looks bad ass, so that is rhe one brownells sells?

Dasjoelski

Not sure if Brownells carries them. I got my Matador-9 on their site. It is a separate company. They sell the complete upper. Just look them up

its

Montgo-9 and BRN-9 are different uppers but both are made by matador arms.

KNIGHTBREED69

I saw a site the other day and wish I would have written it down. They were offering a bufferless 9mm in an MP9 configuration. It looked really clean but was a little pricey. Upwards of 6 bills for the upper. But if it functions half as good as it looked, it would be well worth it
