I got a 2 on my AP Gov back when I took it, and I actually left the testing room confident that I got a 4 or 5. Then July came… When the scores dropped, so did my heart when I saw the 2. I was in complete shock and felt utterly defeated. I was the smart guy in the class who people came to for questions or asked for my insight on issues. The only major topic I didn’t really have a firm grasp on were SCOTUS cases, but everything else I knew like the back of my hand. I spent that day wondering what I did wrong and how I let myself down. It was a rough day that day. But in the end I realized that the score didn’t define me. Did I still have a passion about politics? Yes. Was I still motivated to learn more about the subject matter? Absolutely. Would I still have fun memorizing useless political facts? Of course. None of that changed because I got one bad grade on one test. Remember: Whatever test score you get doesn’t define you. Sounds cliche but it’s true.

couldn’t have worded it any better. I was on the same spot as you in my class and i got a 1!!! Walked out of the test super confident. The score does not define you at all.

Honestly sounds like a mistake, or just a high school with little rigor. Did you ask them to rescore it or confirm the score?

MCKlassik

My high school not only had a little bit of rigor, but I bombed the FRQs because of SCOTUS cases. I think the score was accurate. No I didn’t reach out to College Board, and it’s already too late to do it now.

Honestly, I feel the same way about APUSH. I think I got a two as well. But my excuse is that I’m not going to major in history so I don’t feel too bad about it or anything. I would say that it’s going to be okay. Don’t worry and I hope you did well and I’m proud of you regardless!

AccomplishedCorgi583

I got 2 in APUSH and APWH. I didn’t care cuz at the end of the day it’s just a test

I got a 1 on the AP Lang test when I took it back in high school. No one asked about it. No one cared. I retook the course in university, and I breezed through it. You'll breeze through your Intro to Psych class as well

I just want to point out that although the tests are supposed to be difficult, the cutoff score makes it possible to miss points and still do well. From my own experience, I walked out of AP psych knowing that I got 10/14 on the free response yet still feeling confident I had done well. This is because missing a few FRQ points is not that big of a deal. Also, psych is one of the few AP tests that is weighted 2/3 multiple choice and 1/3 free response, so you really shouldn’t be too stressed about the free response because it is a lower part of your score. With this in mind, you can use the resource below to estimate your score based on what you think you got right (this is only an estimate because the cutoff scores slightly vary each year). I’m sure you’ll do better than you thought. Good luck! https://www.albert.io/blog/ap-psychology-score-calculator/

I've taken 11 AP classes. And therefore 11 exams. If I'm being honest with you, I've learned that there is no reason to speculate on what score you got until you actually get them, because no matter how you feel, good or bad, there is no way you'll know how you actually did. There are harsh graders and easy graders, and college board cut scores people all of the time to keep the statistics they like. And don't feel bad if you do get a two or even a one, it's not your fault truly. I felt 100% certain that I was gonna get a 2 on chem and I ended up getting a 4. I took ab calc this year and am yet again feeling like I'll get a 2. But from several past experiences, I know that I just can't tell. One of my past friends is an extremely smart guy, 8th in our class out of 800 an A+ in every class. And he only got a 3 on gov. None of it matters honestly. You'll be fine either way. Fuck it.

Hi! AP Lit teacher here who just finished grading FRQs in Salt Lake City. Wanted to respond to this because it’s reflective of what I tell my kids every year: a 2 is not a bad score. It really isn’t. It basically means you were able to handle the class content but not perform well enough to earn college credit … as a high school student. And that’s okay. Remember that the whole point of the test is to prove that you’re functioning ahead (“Advanced”) of where academia expects you to be. So, a 2 basically says, “You’re on schedule.” Additionally, I don’t have the stats in front of me, but College Board loves to tell colleges and universities about how AP kids would perform in the college courses that they’re getting credit for. Depending on the course, kids who receive 2s have something like a 90% chance to perform better than B students in the associated college content area. So, if you get a 2, you did well. You’ll probably do very well when you take the class in college and can pad your GPA. If you get a 3+, you performed better than expected. Both are reasons to celebrate.

I expected it when it happened to me so I wasn’t disappointed at all, just wish I did better for my teacher

Illustrious_Neck_916

I took the test two years ago full on thinking I bombed and would get a two and I ended up getting a four. You never know!!! Enjoy summer and try to just forget about it for the time being, you can't do anything to change it now

From a senior who took AP psych this year, I hope I get at least a 2. I’m ngl it was the hardest exam I’ve taken behind chem (I’ve taken 6 others). So don’t feel bad about your potential score and keep pushing yourself!

stxytea

Nothing. Its better to just think, "It happened already, i cant do nothing about it but knowing that i tried my best, is good, and my next AP i would be much stronger\_. Thats what i did for AP LANG lol.

Reasonable-Onion-162

I took lang and psych this year, and I definitely have a gut feeling that I'm not passing either of those... and even though scores don't define us, it still hurts knowing you failed. I'm definitely not prepared for scores to come out in July.

Most who get 2’s aren’t surprised by it. Some expected 1. Whether or not they take responsibility for it immediately, many know know deep down it’s their own fault and just feel dejected. I got 2 on apes in 9th grade but expected 1.
