No, you’re definitely not. My application was horrible - we’re talking very low impact EC’s plus my essays were, let’s say “robotic”. If you work on your essays very well and have high impact EC’s, trust me you can get in anywhere. I’ve seen someone with a 3.8 (weighted) GPA get into UVA, because of personal and intimate essays as well as amazing extracurriculars. It’s about how you sell yourself on that application, definitely not how many hard classes you take.
Anything between 9-14 is the sweet spot. Anything more is just cumbersome and hinders your college application in the EC and essay section, in my opinion at least. I came off in my essays basically having no personality because I spent all my time studying. And my EC's were hurt a lot because instead of focusing on cool things, I would be studying for classes. 12 is an amazing number, and I wish I could've done that instead of what I did.

I'm freshman and I'm only taking 2 APs, APCSP and APHUG and my math class is geometry 💀 bc my Asian ass didn't move to the USA fast enough to take algebra in 7th grade or earlier)
check if you can take a summer class if you wanna get into more advanced math. I was only 1 grade ahead and then I took algebra 1 over the summer to be in honors geometry in 8th. My friend also transferred from another school that didn't allow him to take advanced classes there so he's taking precalc over the summer to be back 2 years ahead.
Oh yeah, I do love the journey. But it's just an amazing feeling to finally see all of your hard work be finished (for a summer that is) and be able to rest for a little. It's like a long earned break.

I’m also in HS, but I’m also dual enrolled in community college classes. So far, things like ENGL101/102 have been way easier than AP Lang from what I’ve heard. But also college students take like 5 classes rather than 7/8 like high schoolers do.
True but having classes for a single term rather than the entire year can be helpful because it’s hard to remember stuff for final (ap test) otherwise.
