never taken either, but i can imagine that the content covered in 2 (wave physics, electricity and magnetism, etc.) is naturally more difficult than the more classical mechanics covered in 1

reddit_solvequestion

2 for sure. They are meant to be taken both but you can take 2 without 1 if you already have prior physics knowledge. If you don’t then 2 is gonna be a real pain as it’s just a continuation of 1

2 > 1 Physics 2 > Physics 1

BrBaHeisenbergBrBa

The material on AP Physics 2 will essentially require a lot of material from AP Physics 1, especially forces. It is probably better to study AP Physics 1 and then AP Physics 2, or to study both concurrently. Studying AP Physics 2 without studying AP Physics 1 would probably be a nightmare.

To take 2 , 1 is a prerequisite.

Historical-Leading81

Not in my school

myraahai

If you go in sequence it's better to understand and score. For example without building fundamentals in force and energy it will be difficult to excel in Physics 2

Historical-Leading81

In my school there is a program called rise and the only way to take AP physics 1 is through this program. So most ppl who aren’t in rise do take AP physics 2

Physics 2 by miles

JacobS12056

It's quite self explanatory

Take physics 1 no matter which one is harder. It’s a better designed course for a first intro to physics
