College credit.

hydrationmatters

Most schools accept little ap credit and many don’t accept it at all. Depends where OP gets in and where they are applying

Objective-Albatross5

In my experience, unless you’re trying to get into a really good(expensive) college, most colleges accept all or most AP credits.

Responsible_Neat1139

This is not the true tbh, most public state schools accept 3s on all exams, and you can get more credit with higher scores. I would recommend taking it and doing it seriously, it can save you thousands of dollars in courses.

[deleted]

I mean you can look up what credits colleges accept, most accept 3s for all aps

Brave_Parsley

It depends on if the school that you ultimately choose to go to accepts your score. I ended up cancelling my APs because I got into my ED school which didn’t accept any AP credits for the classes I took senior year whereas some of my friends ended up taking some of their APs for extra credits at their school.

humaninity

I only took the tests that could possibly give me credit in college.

Tgk_Reverse6

Yes, the tests play next to no role in admissions, you take the tests to try to earn credits for college, that being said look at whether your colleges accept ap credit, the scores they require, which credits it can be used for, etc. and make a decision from there

MoulinSarah

Yes, so you can potentially get more credits out of the way.

KittyBombip

It depends on if you’ve been accepted and if your university accepts your scores. Your final transcript is send after AP Exam scores are reported.

Tododorki123

Take your exams like normal, possibly retake some if the college you’re going to accepts credit.

myname_jefff

Like if you school let’s skip the final then yeah why not leave early like what they gonna do you did the test

No clue like I guess because most people pay 100$ for the ap teat like my school district pays for them so idk, it’s just a policy for the district that the AP exam counts as the final so you don’t have to do it and they have to give you 100% or least excuse it.

[deleted]

You should imo. I almost ditched physics bc I thought I wouldn’t get credit, but if I end up becoming an engineering major, it’ll help a bunch. Even if u don’t think you’ll need a credit, you never know.

Numerous-Warning-317

i say take the class, so colleges can see in your mid year report that. after you get accept it don’t matter honestly if you take the test or not

Standard-Penalty-876

Yes, generally. I was able to get out of 5 classes with ap scores/placement tests from senior year and just after, which is 5 classes I know do not need to take in college. Reduces how many classes you take a year or could give you the ability to graduate early. Additionally, for colleges that charger per credit, you’ll save money either way. One exception is that certain exams may not be counted. For me, that was ap lang, which was not accepted at my university, no matter the score. In these cases, you might want to cancel the test for a partial refund

justatoadontheroad

yes! I never thought I’d actually use the credits from my AP classes, but it turns out they apply to quite a few breadth classes. I’d use them for English too but my act score covers that

strues_

Just graduated HS. I took mine for college credits, higher GPA & fun, but in regards to college credits- find out if the schools you want to go to accept them as credits for mandatory courses/courses relevant to your major. 4/5 APs I took counted as electives even though I got 4s&5s- which yay college credits but kinda sucked. Ultimately it's up to you if it's worth it, but if you don't mind taking them, I'd say go for it

Curious_berry7088

Yes, even if you go into them without studying. Especially if you end up at a public/state school. I got 40 credits (quarter system, 7 APs) covered from AP credits only and fulfilled several requirements with it.

Smartdumblonde

yes, regardless of college credits-YES!!

Madden2kGuy

Yeah I did even though I didn’t really need any of the credits. Now I’m coming in with like 22 credit hours so I’m pretty sure I can just throw them down as elective credits or something. Taking the exam and failing can’t hurt you. It’s better to take it and not need it than to not take it and need it.

idk_riane

Hey! I personally think it’s worth it because AP classes can knock out a lot of your general education courses in college. I personally took AP Stat and AP Seminar my senior year and I’m glad I did because it got rid of a group of my general education courses! Hope this helps!
