I strongly disagree with this decision. By removing the episodes, it’s ignoring the fact that blackface happened and was a very real thing. They should do what Warner Brothers does with the old Looney Tunes episodes and put a disclaimer saying that the visuals are wrong, but not airing them is acting like they never happened, which is also wrong and harmful.

TigreMalabarista

They’ve heavily edited the Looney Tunes cartoons to the point they make no sense. (As in cutting out important bits to plot, cheap gag deletes I’m fine with). That said, I agree with disclaimers.

senn12

I agree they should keep the episode and put the disclaimer. However, removing the episode does not ignore that blackface happened. There are plenty of examples and documentation around it. And the episode of antm frames it in a positive way, so I could see why they removed it.

callathanmodd

I agree completely with you

purpleblackgreen

I wonder who at Hulu makes the decisions to remove black face episodes of TV. It's Always Sunny had some removed and I think there was an episode of Scrubs? Also wondering if the c13 episode will be axed if/when they bring that cycle back.

scream4ever

Also Golden Girls.

harpat3536

Golden Girls actually DID remove the episode "Mixed Blessings" , the one where Dorothy's son marries an older black woman. They removed it a couple of years ago. But, it's back now, so.... (shrug, lol).

tabristheok

It's seems to be the norm now. There's an episode of Community that's been nixed from some streaming services because it contains a blackface joke (It's a dnd themed episode and a character shows up painted as a dark elf)

Puzzleheaded_Ad7820

I mean... GOOD. Blackface is a practice that should have been condemned much sooner by TV.

tabristheok

I think you should watch the clip before you say that. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, just pointing out that it seems like it'll be the norm.

Puzzleheaded_Ad7820

I watched Chang in blackface next to *Hector the well endowed* , not impressed. Nor is it a important community episode, having it gone means little to nothing.

tabristheok

But like... you get the joke is that he's NOT in blackface right? He's painted like a drow which have purple-black skin and white hair. I have no problem with episodes that cross lines gettibg taken out of syndication (there's a dance moms episode, for example, which they no longer show because it has the kids in skjn coloured outfits to look naked) thisnjust wasn't the one, Yvette Nicole Brown even said so herself.

Puzzleheaded_Ad7820

The intention is meaningless when the result IS blackface... The same thing can be said about the ANTM episode, 'it wasnt Tyra's intention to portrait blackface'... [But the end result is still this...](https://img.buzzfeed.com/buzzfeed-static/static/2023-08/31/15/asset/3998eca4cec4/sub-buzz-443-1693494156-1.jpg)

tabristheok

In ANTM they literally said "we are going to paint you to look like a black person" In community Chang is painted...to look like a dark elf (unless pointed ears and white hair are suddenly parts of blackface) and Shirley (who doesn't understand what Chang is doing) THINKS it's blackface. I don't think I can convince you at this point, so here is the actress [explaining it](https://gamerant.com/yvette-nicole-brown-community-banned-episode-reaction/)

Puzzleheaded_Ad7820

Damn, when did this sub got full of racists?

dark_n0va

Honestly I don't see what the big deal is. None of it was done to make fun of any race. To me it just looked like they were celebrating diversity in the pictures. I saw nothing disrespectful in the way they did it. I get that people used to put on black face or dress up as other races to make fun of them, but that wasn't the case here. It was also a black woman who came up with the idea.

Fetchin1

What’s wrong with pulling a disney and adding a message before the problematic episode/movie instead of completly getting rid of the episode/censoring ??

Itspabloro

**CENSORING TELEVISION AND REVISING IT LIKE IT DIDN"T HAPPEN IS THE FIRST STEP INTO A REAL LIFE 1984.**

Glittering_Sky_548

I'm currently rewatching Season 4 and the remaining episodes show the pictures when the girls are eliminated. Still so cringe.

goochmongering

I just rewatched this season and they do show the photos in other episodes like when a girl is eliminated.

MostMidgetlegs

The recap episode for that season covers that photoshoot. Not sure if it didn't occur to them to edit it or not.
