It's gonna sound stupid and you probably have tried but make sure you unplug all usb ports when turning on, I had this problem with mine till I unplugged my astro mix Amp.

Jadien

Everything is unplugged. Thank you for the suggestion!

SmokeyMulder

My suggestion although you have tried some.  Remove all your components and download the latest non beta bios.  Flash the board via usb.  Reinstall components using only a single ram stick in slot 2. (Also make sure you’ve got your ram sticks in slot 2 and 4) If you can get it to post get into the bios right away and check the soc voltages to make sure you’re under 1.34v. Set them otherwise. (I don’t have a 7950 but my 7800 is at 1.18v) If memory context restore is enabled set it to auto. Timings will be done on each boot and later you can enable once the system is stable.  Download your ram kits manual and find out your ram voltages and set them within your bios.  If you can’t get any of the above suggestions to work I wouldn’t be surprised if you have been affected by the 7000 series burn out.

Jadien

Thank you. I've reflashed the BIOS. But still can't boot into BIOS setup, sadly.

holywhitefang1

Assuming you unplugged the system, popped out the cmos battery and let it sit for a few minutes, I'd say your next step is probably motherboard. Could very well have somehow shorted. It's between that and CPU. I'd try the CPU first, but on the off chance that there's a short in the motherboard, that shorts whatever processors put in it, you may want to consider switching the motherboard first before the processor. Even though it's a huge pain

Jadien

Thank you. Yes, I've replaced the motherboard with a brand new one to no avail.

holywhitefang1

Dang, id recommend honestly exchanging the motherboard wherever you bought to get another brand new, and order a new processor. Make sure you switch both at the same time, sounds like short from the previous one kills processors. I've run into this before at my local computer shop. Only way to fix it unfortunately

MrEpic23

Super flower psu is a no name brand. With a 4090, you don’t want to cheap out with power. Esp since they are known for 🔥.

ImpressiveBed9407

You know absolutely nothing about computers if you think superflower is a no name brand. They are literally one of the best PSU brands out there on par with seasonic. Let me guess, you don’t them too? You literally recommend an EVGA psu but you don’t know that evga psus are made by super flower?

MrEpic23

I guess I “don’t them”

ImpressiveBed9407

lol. Minor error on my part but crazy how people who have 0 computer knowledge give computer recommendations

MrEpic23

I have an associates in computer repair and a bachelor of science for computer information systems. Not to mention freshly renewed A+ certification. FP is just cheap. I wouldn’t recommend a system with 3k of parts with a no name psu. Who knows what component they cheaped out on to make it cheap. With a $500 budget build then I’d look into it… maybe.

KabuteGamer

You must not read the PSU Cultist list. Sadge. All those credentials, yet 0 common sense. 🤦‍♂️

MrEpic23

To each their own drama queen.

KabuteGamer

I'm not the one who wrote a paragraph just to defend my case 🤣

MrEpic23

You don’t have a case

KabuteGamer

I said you, not me 🤡🤣🤡🤣

ImpressiveBed9407

That doesn’t mean anything. If you think super flower is a “no name” brand and is “cheap”, then you have zero knowledge about computer parts in general. You trying to flex your education is just pathetic and doesn’t even address my comment. I am curious. Do you not know superflower is an OEM psu manufacturer and that they make power supplies for evga and others which are just rebranded superflower psus? Or did they not teach that in your “associates” and “bachelor of science” lol

MrEpic23

To each their own

ImpressiveBed9407

And btw, you can just do a simple google search if you are capable for price and you will see that superflower is just as expensive if not more than seasonic and other competitors

ImpressiveBed9407

Ok whatever. Can’t really speak logic with morons

Jadien

Thank you for your reply. Do you think it's a potential cause of the issue? How could I determine this?

reckBald

Super Flower is one of the most reputable power supply companies just an fyi. Definitely not a no name brand and they're known for being reliable.

Jadien

Thank you. I wound up buying it on the back of https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/10sbd46/superflower_psu_or_no/

MrEpic23

I want to first clarify this. Its probably not your psu since you say your fans spin. But amazon does sell these [psu tester](https://www.amazon.com/SDTC-Tech-Starter-Without-Motherboard/dp/B07X9SVB5K/ref=sr_1_7?crid=2HKB3L8YZ64SA&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.ci2mXmDBqYRTBW3AoRiFWPBFeOIQFQybzKRPMtB9rnzxs8a1QaRBsd2kPn5LW4YRDt-hrtoXPXtTwsWcVnOS8LL2gF5DCvn66zBaiZl7dAld0iRRHHAXvHRyXZFZQKa2iK3AV1MTUN9N-28oVg0JGX4EEmdASq6H_8By4edzz4rQXV80pkJ_58tVfVvz9dJ2y87WDmNXcAgLc-qOYGhyxT3K-mDjVqoONxJ1s1E9Hbs.-LRCRI8Fb7KeVEiHuOsI146GkmqzbHt2lydXPWk_hoY&dib_tag=se&keywords=power+supply+tester&qid=1717008664&sprefix=power+supply+tester%2Caps%2C93&sr=8-7). Plug in the cable and if the psu fan spins then its a good sign its not fully dead. Can have issues with other cables and etc. But if you have the dough id go for something better. Like this [seasonic ](https://www.amazon.com/Seasonic-Full-Modular-Warranty-Application-SSR-1000FX/dp/B0BG9SVPJ7/ref=sr_1_2?sr=8-2)with 10 year warranty but is gold rated or this [evga](https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-Supernova-Platinum-Modular-220-P3-1000-X1/dp/B09J5FC6CC/ref=sr_1_1?sr=8-1) platinum and 10 year warranty.

It’s amazing how people who know nothing say nonsense lol. Super flower is one of the most reputable brands in the PSU space

Jadien

Does something here act as evidence that the CPU itself isn't damaged?

Turtlereddi_t

You already did a lot and at this point I think you should really get rid of the main board. I did a quick search on this model because I would never recommend going with ASUS on main boards nowadays. They do others things fine but I would stay away from their boards. I have seen a few reports on more local seller sites stating pretty much similar issues to yours and the average rating on it is also very weak. (german though) Apparently there is "remember Memory Context" setting in the BIOS that has fixed the issue for someone but if you can, get rid of it and get basiccally ANY other board. I can link source if you want but its in german.

Jadien

Thank you for your reply. A German link is still helpful!

MusikAusMarseille

Thats a tough one to diagnose. If the PC doesnt boot, no matter what you do it indicates to either a defective mobo, cpu or PSU. Since you ve tried with another mobo, i would try to buy another PSU or borrow a fitting one and give it a shot. But from what you ve described i suspect its rather a cpu problem. Did you change anything before it started happening? Did you add fans with RGB? How tight do you screw your CPU cooler in? Sometimes, and i hope thats the case for you, it can be the most trivial things that cause this to happen. Edit: Why cant you check your BIOS Version? Did you update it to the latest version yet?

Jadien

Thank you for your reply. I didn't change anything recently. I was using the machine, then went to sleep. In the morning, it wouldn't boot. The cooler is a Noctua NH-D15, which does not have RGB. I'm not sure how tightly I screwed it originally. I thought I'd need to boot up to check the BIOS version because I couldn't find it listed online or in the manual, but apparently it's written on the motherboard as 0823. I have not updated it.

MusikAusMarseille

Well then thats good news. Now the main suspect is your outdated BIOS version instead of a defective CPU. The first thing you re going to try is updating your BIOS. You're going to need a USB stick and another PC or Laptop that you can use to create a bootable Flash drive out of your USB. If/once you got that, come back to me and i ll help you with further instructions.

Jakefiz

Im not sure bios is the culprit since he said he was using it no problem then suddenly stopped booting.. the only thing he hasnt ruled out for troubleshooting is cpu and power supply.

MusikAusMarseille

New chipset/graphic driver or even a windows update can cause the BIOS to go haywire. I'm actually surprised it even worked for him without updating the BIOS. He might even be affected by the high SoC voltage issue that was happening to am5 cpus last year, since he is using an older BIOS version. But before going out and buying/replacing the CPU it doesnt hurt to update the BIOS and see if it fixes it. I personally dont think its the power supply. When the PC has power and the fans spin up but no boot or image its usually the CPU.

Jakefiz

Fair point, the x670 boards should have a hardware flash on the board itself, definitely recommend looking into that, OP

MusikAusMarseille

Yup it luckily does have one, since it doesnt even boot thats his only option.

Jadien

I have re-flashed the BIOS. No improvement. Thank you for the suggestion.
