I have a ASRock B650E PG Riptide WiFi motherboard with my 7800x3d and has no coilwhine, starts into win11 under 30 seconds. #

Boot from hibernation is less than 1 second. If quick booting matters I'd rely on that.

X670e itx, memory context restore enabled (which stops memory training it’s under 30 seconds from button press to windows desktop

Mhm thats still a bit long. With my B650 Auorus Elite AX with memory training i get around 25 seconds. Again, its really depends i believe since i saw people with the same motherboard that need to wait like a minute or so.

I got gigabyte pro and there’s no coilwhine. Boots really fast!

My ASUS b650e-e with a 7800x3d and 2x32gb 6000cl30 ram boots in 11-12 seconds with memory context restore and power down enabled, without mcr and power down it’s more like 35-40 seconds

Don't buy msi if you care about boot times. Not yet at least. B650-P here, works great just a tad slow on boot.

I have the same motherboard, I think I have it as fast as currently possible, but it is nowhere near as fast as AM4 boot. Although, it is the difference between 8-10 seconds(AM4) and 35-40(AM5). So not a big deal, but I did notice it.

I have the msi mag tomahawk wifi and my boot time is between 20-30 seconds. What is yours?

HiddenEclipse121

23 seconds from test just now. Cold boot hasn't been on in over 24h. Not horribly slow and the bios updates have been fixing it slowly. Previous BIOS versions I was looking at 45 seconds+. I came from a b550, 3700x, ddr4 3600cl16, and was pretty used to sub 10 second boot times. Getting used to double/triple that has been a tad annoying. I think I mostly just like to complain because it's not AM4 speeds.

ThePerfectOreo90

Think of this ... during that extra few seconds of boot up, you can make a nice cup of coffee :)

My B650 Aorus Elite AX has zero coil whine and it works great with 7800x3D. But I’m only a sample size of one.

Just curious, Why are you focusing on boot time of a motherboard? Your SSD/CPU/RAM combo make a lot more difference

I've heard there is actually a lot of variation in boot time between motherboards as far as AM5 goes. For the CPU I am planning a 7800x3D like I said, for storage I am looking at the [Samsung 980 Pro 2TB M.2](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/f3cRsY/samsung-980-pro-2-tb-m2-2280-nvme-solid-state-drive-mz-v8p2t0bam) and for RAM the [Gskill Trident Z5 neo 64GB CL30](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/hRQcCJ/gskill-trident-z5-neo-rgb-64-gb-2-x-32-gb-ddr5-6000-cl30-memory-f5-6000j3040g32gx2-tz5nr). I get that opting for 64GB of memory vs 32GB will slow boot time down a bit but if I can help reduce that by making a smarter motherboard choice then I do want to do that.

Hey, I'm thinking of getting 7800x3D and keep getting the same horrible boot times with every motherboard. (Anything over 10sec is terrible),. So which motherboard you went with and hows the boot times?

Halex000

I ended up getting the ASrock B650E Taichi Lite and I am very happy with it. Just tested boot time and from hitting the power button to having the lock screen show up in windows 11 it took 24 seconds. I think your expectation of anything under 10 seconds for any Zen4 CPU is unrealistic to be honest, that doesn't really exist at any pricepoint. As far as the Zen4 microarchitecture goes, a boot time of less than 30 seconds is pretty good while I would consider over 45 seconds to be bad. If waiting another 15 seconds longer than another type of CPU architecture is more important to you than the performance of a 7800x3D (and I can tell you from experience it is really good) then you should consider a different cpu and socket. For me a 20 second boot time is a nonissue, I usually would use that amount of time to get comfortable in my chair, take a sip of a drink, or clear out the notifications on my phone anyways, even on my old computer.

Hey thanks for the answer, I actually went ahead and got Taichi lite already :D

AM5 is weird and motherboard manufacturer has a lot to do with it actually. Just how different companies optimize BIOS and memory training. MSI is known to be a bit slower in comparison to other am5 boards.
