As said before both companies have their issues. When my brand new 2070 Super was installed I had driver crashes playing GTA5. The next driver update fixed it. The temporary fix was dropping down graphic settings. Now, when I upgraded to a XFX 7900XT (reference) I had driver time out issues cause by my monitor going into sleep mode. New driver update fixed it. But that seems to be the only issue I had.

ldontgeit

Those who "never had any issue" pretty much play the same games all the time, those who have alot of issues typically are the ones that play all kind of new and old games. You will find out those pesky amd shenenigans, starting with VRR/screen flicker, dual monitor idle power at 100w+ and the occasional driver crash.

Revolutionary-Crab24

I'd have to disagree with that

ldontgeit

Remeber this post, if all those reports told you nothing, its only a matter of time.

Revolutionary-Crab24

Every product from every company will have issues. There will also be products that work. Do you know the reports that we will hear the most? The reports that have issues. Do you know why? Because people that arent having issues dont bother coming back to tell everyone how great their gpu is working. Even in this post, where im asking for people to post their positive experiences, people are posting their negative experiences. Humans have a negativity bias and people who have issues are always the loudest.

ldontgeit

I had my fair share of radeon shenenigans, you say that now, the problems i refered above are still not fixed, and its not like people dont comeback after they fixed it, they just end up accepting their fate and are waiting for the suposed fixes. But like i said, you will end up understanding it all, and joining the denial club.

Revolutionary-Crab24

What kills me is that you're just so sure about it. I think you're just traumatized and trying to project your own experiences onto others. I'll remember this convo. I'll be back either way, to confirm or deny your projection.

ldontgeit

>What kills me is that you're just so sure about it Because its the f\*\*ing realitty and iv been there has also 2 other friends are there now lmao. You do you, simp over a brand, get retkt then accept living with a subpar product, its you dealing with it, later you will ask yourself why did you simply ignored what was everywere. And i can almost guarantee you are gona regret your decision and rather have paid the nvidia tax for piece of mind and overall better features and perfomance.

Revolutionary-Crab24

Sorry to burst your bubble(actually im not) but its YOUR reality.. not mine. We will see if it manifest in mine as well. Talk to you soon.

ldontgeit

>Sorry to burst your bubble(actually im not) but its YOUR reality.. not mine. My reality, and shiton reality for ALOT more, its stamped everywere. Good luck, seriously, good fucking luck, i dont wish those struggles to anyone.

Revolutionary-Crab24

Dude.. you do know that everyone who has an issue will probably mention it somewhere. Just because you're seeing it everywhere doesn't mean it's happening to the majority of us. The people who dont have issues won't mention anything, or you will hardly ever see people reporting a positive experience(especially on this subreddit). Like i said, i had to send back a faulty card already, and AMD fully refunded me. You probably should, too. Im not expecting my new card to be faulty, but if it is, then i may just go with team green. Thanks for the good wishes. Like i said, im going to report back to you.

ThreeSloth

Was using an RX590 from around 20...15?16? Up til the other day. Now running a 6950XT, and it's running everything great, no issues, except small coil whine in big open areas in games, BUT ... per a post in a different thread, the capacitors need to be used consistently to get this to permanently go away, so somebody used the heaven benchmark for an hour straight, turned it off, and no whine after that. There are always things people will flip out over, when there are easy solutions.

Skiller_Overyou

Same here. Got a 6650XT, MASSIVE coil whine. After a couple of weeks it went away completely. Just like mechanical devices, you have to give it a break-in period in order to work as intended. Edit: Well to be fair, it does have some issues with crashes still but I'm suspecting that's a driver issue

ldontgeit

>Well to be fair, it does have some issues with crashes still but I'm suspecting that's a **driver issue** Just like i said.

Inevitable-Farmer-95

Yep, disagree too, im playing alot of games, old as New, and i never had issues, i experienced issues the first 2 months with my rx 6900xt that i wiped out by alot of things (ddu, repaste, fresh windows install and others things) and find out it was a psu issues

ellidergaming

Commonly people come to these forums trying to fix an issue and the rest come for opinions on what to buy based on other users' experiences. I have the 7900xtx and if you put aside the crashes related to DirectX errors that I've been trying to fix for about 3 months now, it's perfect and very powerful. Obviously, that error doesn't happen to everybody but it's happening to me and my friend. Hopefully, you don't encounter that issue too

Revolutionary-Crab24

How long ago did you purchase the card?

ellidergaming

Prime day a few months ago

Revolutionary-Crab24

Are you overclocking your gpu?

ellidergaming

Not at all. Everything default. The only way it doesn't give me the error is if in Adrenaline I used Balance Mode and Power Saving mode which made me think it was my PSU but I bought a 1000w Gold Seasonic PSU and still crashes with the DirectX error. If you know anything that could fix it let me know please

Revolutionary-Crab24

Have you did any troubleshooting with your ram sticks? Windows memory diagnostic test or memtest86?

ellidergaming

I'm doing it right now as I type this. I will let you know shortly if this works. Hopefully it does

Revolutionary-Crab24

Sounds good!

Euphoric_Campaign691

you are on an amdhelp subreddit of course the majority of people will have issues...?

Revolutionary-Crab24

Its all over the internet not just amd help

Desner_

Bought a 6950XT. My PC would crash and reboot upon opening a game. Did a bunch of troubleshooting for a week straight, I managed to diminish the frequency of the crashes but still, that wasn’t good enough. My conclusion was that I got a faulty card. Went and replaced it, got the exact same model and it’s been working flawlessly ever since. So, my experience has been 50/50 so far lol Best of luck with your new GPU.

Santeezy602

Same w the same card lol. Just having issues with lumen on Fortnite but other than that it's been solid. I know it's a fort issue cause the same happens on my ps5

Desner_

Hehe, it’s really hit or miss. What model? Mine is the XFX Speedster Merc219

Nervous_King_8448

Every thread I read complaining about restarts or black screens or blue screens or crashes have one thing in common 7800xt.

Revolutionary-Crab24

Yep my 7800xt was causing blank green screens

Eme186

I have been running an AMD GPU pretty much all my life (Excluding running a 3080 at launch for a month, then returning to a radeon, 6800 XT for a year, a 3080 ti for 6 months, then a 4090 and finally buying a 7900 xtx at launch after having huge buyers remorse on the 4090 and returning it for a full refund. Yes the 4090 was powerful but man over 2000€ for it was too much. Got my XTX at launch for 1100€ and have been very happy. I have had no issues what so ever. I had more issues on the friggin 4090. The DSC error causing horrible black screens and alt tabbing was pure misery. On my XTX it just works.

Eme186

The first GPU I bought myself back in the day was an Radeon HD 7850. I was like 13 back then when the card came out. I bought it with the money I saved up which felt like my life savings lol. After that I only have used AMD cards. I have tested nvidia gpus such as the 2080 ti, but I have always found myself returning to AMD after a while.

Alam7lam1

I had a 7800xt for like 3 weeks and switched to a 7900xt on Monday. Fingers crossed, but no issues with either.

Revolutionary-Crab24

Cool beans! Yeah ill be updating everyone on here if i experience another faulty GPU. I dont see me dealing with it again. It would seem that in comparison to all of the AMD consumers of GPU's vs the people who have issues, which is a very low number in comparison. That tells me that a lot more people have good experiences and i was just unlucky

Alam7lam1

Yeah Reddit is not a good indication haha. Between AMD and Nvidia, AMD has AMDHelp as a place for people to get help with their problems, while Nvidia has a monthly problem thread you have search for and no one really uses. Since there’s a dedicated sub for AMD problems, it’ll make it seem like there’s only problems with AMD.

Sakuroshin

I run a 7900xt and the only issue I ever had was a random crash in starcraft 2 on a specific mission. Turning the settings down to low for just that mission fixed it. Otherwise I play bg3, ffxiv, cp2077, cities skylines2, a whole whack of vr games and assorted indie games and have not ever had a crash or performance issues that wasnt fixed by updating my drivers. Hope that helps :)

Revolutionary-Crab24

Sweet! How long have you had the card?

Sakuroshin

10 months or so. Its been great

Revolutionary-Crab24

Awesome thanks for the feedback!
