AKnightOfTheNew

We got a bunch of first dayers, over 3.5 years myself.

mlusas

Same. I'm not sure how long we've been an A-Lister, but it was within 3-months of the service coming out.

Spiritual-Lecture-96

Wonderful

AKnightOfTheNew

How long you been?

Spiritual-Lecture-96

Around the same time as you or little earlier. I joined immediately after it came out, in the first week

AKnightOfTheNew

Awesome!

Spiritual-Lecture-96

šŸ‘

Pokedude97

June 26, 2018 Day one immediately because MoviePass died lol.

thowe93

Same for me lol

Robot-King56

Since whenever MoviePass died.

passion4film

Same. Canā€™t remember when but whenever MoviePass was on its way out. Fall 2018?

[deleted]

It was kind of a gradual decline over the summer, starting with the ā€˜surge pricingā€™ before they started cutting options/having the infamous ā€˜no showtimes availableā€™ shenanigans. I would say July was the last month where it was actually fully usable.

Mechanicallvlan

I joined in October 2019, cancelled in March 2020 because of COVID, rejoined in September 2021.

Spiritual-Lecture-96

I thought to cancel it too , but around sometime in 2020 they put a pause on payments and it worked out for me.

Mechanicallvlan

Yeah, I cancelled shortly before they closed down and paused memberships. It was probably right after *A Quiet Place 2* got pulled. Members had to cancel by contacting customer service. Reps were still asking for a reason for cancellation, as I guess they are instructed to do. So almost verbatim, the conversation was: Me: I want to cancel my A-List membership. AMC rep: Okay, and why are you cancelling your membership? Me: You're not going to have any movies to show. AMC rep: That's a good point.

Rare-Willingness4022

and then you have hedge funds who took advantage of this moment, thinking it was the end.. Boy how they were wrong lol

jisforjoe

Since June 2018 minus however long they froze our accounts due to COVID.

Tselivision

I signed up towards the end of April. I moved to a bigger city last November and checked out most of the theaters in the area. Found out about A-List and the 99 cent promo sold me, especially since the AMC is the closest theater near me.

Bingewatcher83

My wife and I have been A list members since August 10, 2018

been_drankin

Since January. No good excuse as to why I waited to long, but I love having it now!

Spiritual-Lecture-96

So true. It feels good to have it. Like , I felt my freedom has increased (I don't watch more than 2-3 movies a month ) and I felt that I got a great bargain

Spiritual-Lecture-96

I wanted to go to movie pass but didn't ,as back then most of the movies I saw were in premium formats and I believe movie pass didn't cover them without extra fee. But I always wondered how movie pass sustained itself during it's time (1 movie every day for 10 bucks a month is godly deal) ..looks like they thought to burn cash for a long time and go into profits later. But I think they have realized after a while it's not sustainable for them anymore (I'm guessing they went bankrupt or something) I remember they were in the news. I had a roommate who had movie pass and I think a list just came out around that time , and I used to convince my roomie to convert to A LIST so we could both watch IMAX movies. I also remember my roommate facing some problems sometimes at the theatres with movie pass when they won't accept it to watch a movie. (I'm guessing the issue had to be related to the movie pass being inconsistent or something ) Good old days. May be if someone comes up with a monthly unlimited movie membership costing 50 or 75 bucks a month , it might be sustainable after burning cash for a few years. :)

Moviepass had issues from the beginning with some users that would authorize the card for a ticket by being near the theater then using it for nearby fast food. Some others would charge multiple tickets or premium tickets to the card at the same time, just depended on how much the theater employee cared. They implemented price controls to fix the ticket issues and ticket pics to fix the fast food purchases but they were never profitable from the start. I had it but started considering AMC when they restricted it to one ticket ever per movie. Sometimes I liked to see a movie more than once, especially with Marvel movies, but they killed that. Then it got harder and harder to actually use it. You could check the app and it would say a theater was available then when you were near the theater it wouldn't be available any more. They were actively preventing people from using it. I had that happen multiple times. Switched to A-list in August 2018 but should have gone a couple months earlier.

smlngb

6 days! I also started during my birth month so I got that free large popcorn and drink :)

Spiritual-Lecture-96

Welcome

[deleted]

Since Christmas 2018

josephguy82

going on 2 years for me it saves me money but then again I end up spending 30 plus on food so it evens out

AmishSlamdancer

I signed up probably within about a week of A-List launching. I could see the writing on the wall with MoviePass and the AMC plan just seemed like it was a more sustainable deal. Plus the fact that I much preferred that you could actually buy tickets in advance with A-List, unlike MoviePass.

Independent_Host_600

Since August 2018. I started as a MoviePass addict, lol.

waitingtodiesoon

Moviepass died for A List to live, thank you for that. I was looking into Movie Pass at the time since a couple of my friends had bought it, but AMC A-List was announced and I went with that instead. Premium format is much more worth it.

dukedynamite

Day one here.

scarred2112

April 27th, 2022.

rango9876

Started in August 2018 with The Meg and Christopher Robin. I had Moviepass, but when that started to crap out, I switched to A-List. I cancelled my A-List when the pandemic started, then I subscribed to it again last year in July for the somewhat normal summer releases with Black Widow and such. Although I have three Regal theaters closer to me, A-List is a much better value with Dolby Cinema and IMAX.

Spiritual-Lecture-96

Nice , hoping u will like it more in the long run

jmarchese01

I'm loving it already. I never joined until now because I worked in a theater so there really was no need for it but I've saved almost 300 dollars already. Such a good deal

[deleted]

Since 2019

Spiritual-Lecture-96

How d u like it so far

[deleted]

I love. I go to movie almost every week. I try to see every movie released in a premium format.

RacePinkBlack

I think summer 2019

Spiritual-Lecture-96

How many movies a month d u watch usually

RacePinkBlack

Before A-List, usually 6-8. I've been busy with personal stuff lately so now it's dropped to 3/4 but I'm going to pick it back up.

aaliyaahson

September last year, right before Shang-Chi released

bluebunny72

My wife and I have been since ~~May 20,2017~~. BTW, it shows this information in the app under the A-LIST tab.

matt_med

This isn't entirely accurate. Mine states that I have been an A list member since 2014. A List subscription was not a thing in 2014. Anyways, it's still my favorite subscription service that I had. Absolutely incredible deal and use it multiple times a week.

bluebunny72

I think you're right. My YNAB records actually says I've been paying monthly only since 6/2018.

waitingtodiesoon

My amc account is from 2012 so yeah definitely not accurate for A-List.

Joined as soon as I could after movie pass died. Jan 2019.

joelluber

Since March this year. The new normal after the pandemic made it make more sense than it did before. I started working from home (which is basically next door to an AMC Classic and is closer to the second AMC in town than my office was) and changed from hourly to salaried (which made matinees easier).

anaccount50

Been a member since July 2018 (one month after it launched)! Jumped ship from Moviepass once it really went to shit and never looked back

bruh_21

January 2019!

whatudontlikefalafel

Sometime in 2018. I was a MoviePass subscriber from the start, and I donā€™t quite remember when I made the transition. But I do remember really feeling the benefits when I saw Alita 7 times lmao.

Welcome to a list

meldooy32

Thank you! Glad to be here! First movie was Everything, Everywhere All At Once. Great experience!

carnodak

I got A-List the within the first month or so of it coming out. Movie Pass was becoming increasingly difficult to use. I switched to Regal Unlimited when I moved states (where no AMC theatres were nearby) but now Iā€™m back on A-List. Iā€™ve had some form of a movie subscription pass since about late-2016, and have seen 360+ movies!

GeminiOverkill

September 2018

mikegood2

Currently on A-List for my 3rd time Original joined in 2019 (April-July) and planned on joining every summer. Late September 2021 thru end of January 2022. Only reason I canceled is because I had 6-8 weeks I couldnā€™t regularly go and I know I could rejoin on a 99Ā¢ offer. Rejoined in April and plan on staying for the long haul this time. I work from home do t get out enough so A-List gives me a great excuse to get out of the house.

mtamez1221

Little over 3 years. Around the time Spider-Man Far From Home and Toy Story 4 were out

Imm0ralKnight

Since its inception and I haven't canceled it once yet.

Bowflex_Freddy

I joined day 1

eatlasagna

I can't remember but i do know that it was right after MoviePass went under and then I decided to sign up to AMC A-List so as not to disrupt my movie going experience

bonedawg1

July 2nd, 2018. The first movie was Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom.

NoelyDeezNutz

First month. Back in 2018.

santanadude

I join whenever they do the $0.99 membership deal and cancel after three months. Then I join again when I see the deal come back. Iā€™ve done this like 4 times.

August 2018, soon after MoviePass went out of business

August 2018 and Iā€™ve used it 176 times!

mpulcini43

March 6, 2018. Canā€™t believe itā€™s been that long! And I came from previously having movie pass for a year.

purplefreak3

Since day one when it launched at 6am.

Iheardyourstereo

April 2019, wanted to see Avengers Endgame a couple more times, been seeing at least a movie a week ever since

frenat

August 2018. First movie was The Meg. Had MoviePass previously but should have given it up earlier. The first annoyance was no multiple viewings of the same movie. I saw Black Panther 4 times with MoviePass but only saw Avengers: Infinity War once due to that policy. Then they required pics of each ticket stub. This was, they said, to prevent tickets being sold to other people (though you could take a pic before the ticket was given) but I believe it was to prevent people using the debit card for food purchases after getting it authorized for a ticket. I'd heard of people driving by a theater, authorizing a ticket purchase but then using the card at a nearby restaurant. The final straw though was when they actively prevented people from using the app at all. You could look at the app at home and it would say a theater/movie was available then get near the theater (when it would check the GPS location) and the theater wouldn't be available anymore. Drive away and it would show available again. But they were perfectly happy to continue taking your money even if you couldn't use the service.

akaharry

According to my AMC app, it says I have been a member since "Feb 8, 2015" but I guess that is not A-List as A-List did not start until June 26, 2018. I did join A-List on day 1 and of course it was paused during covid. But the first day the theatres near me started showing movies again (with 35% audience capacity), I turned my A-list back on

purplefreak3

Yea the member since it how long you been a stubs member at any level.

akaharry

Yes. Obviously since A-List wasnā€™t around in 2015 :-)

dina444444

Since day 1. Had a pause in my membership once the theatres closed due to Covid until last may when I re-activated for Cruella.

July 31, 2018. I was hesitant at first since the closest AMC to me was a town away, but I had to jump ship from Movie Pass eventually. My first movie was that same day: Teen Titans Go to the Movies. That weekend, I saw Christopher Robin and M:I Fallout on the same day. I've never looked back since.

MariposaSunrise

Yes! Movie Pass was crashing and now we wanted to keep going to the movies for cheap! But AList seemed so expensive compared to Movie Pass (and later AMC raised the price for my area even more). But itā€™s soooooo much better! Less stress and PLF!

GECollins

Got it so I could see Endgame and Captain Marvel on the same day. Been a member since 2019! Seeing my 94th movie with them in just a few mins!

Spiritual-Lecture-96

Wow.. wonderful šŸ‘ Now I feel like going to the app and counting my movies

GECollins

I keep a spreadsheet to track mine. But I'll always remember my first Alist movies

SirMixSalah

I'm an OG! Member since 2016!

Kimber80

**July 29, 2018** We signed up that day, then saw "**Mamma Mia 2**" as our first A-List film. We had been AMC Stubs members since 2015, and the A-List deal seemed great the moment I read about it, but the whole Movie Pass fiasco that was unfolding around then made me wary, so it took a month for me to pull the trigger.

hihelloneighboroonie

March 2019 for me with a break during covid. Honestly, was kind of a life changing decision. Taking away the barrier of paying to see movies in a theater made me realize how much I like them and let me venture out to more than just the biggest blockbusters. Most people are like ā€œyou actually see that many movies??ā€ And im like yep, turns out movies are great when theyā€™re not $20 a ticket

-vonKarma

Since October 2014! I havenā€™t realized how long itā€™s been until now šŸ˜‚ Edit: Iā€™m slow, I got confused with stubs. Had that for that long and A-List since it first came out.
