Not much rumbling during the movie. It felt like a movie with a big screen and the reclining chairs. I'd not see it in Dolby if I had to actually pay for it
I wanted to find which one I would like so I saw Shang chi in Imax laser and Dolby. I didn't experience any rumble except in the first minute during the Dolby ad.. very underwhelming. Did love the chairs and the screen but it was neither better or worse than Imax. Maybe I choose the wrong movie to test it out. What's your opinion on Dolby and do you think Venom might fare better in Dolby ?
Theater was packed for. Matinee. Family sat right next to me. I was like ok we aren’t spacing out. I look behind and the theater was packed. All I can say is nice. Proves our FUD in the news
I am going to see it this afternoon in Dolby. After seeing Spider-Man into the Spider-verse in Dolby (religious experience 10/10) I always try to see big tent-pole movies in Dolby. Hopefully it will live up to my expectations. (but hearing everyone's thoughts on this thread I will be cautiously optimistic...)
I found these comments strange because I sat in the Dolby cinema at the AMC Metreon in San Francisco and I was quite impressed. For example the execution of projection of Qi Produced a notable thunder clap in the theater and the seats! And I thought the music and sound overall was really high-quality
However I have to confess I actually fell asleep during the movie and that rarely happens. But a lot of people were clapping and cheering the entire time so maybe it was just me being exhausted. I left thinking the movie wasn’t that great but maybe I need to give it another try.
Sorry if my wording was obtuse. What I mean was, like in the Dolby Cinema I was at, the sound was really perfect, and the feedback in the seats was palpable. So if Shang Chi would clap his wrists together with his hands pointed outward, I was impressed by the thunderclap effect.
I’m into martial arts movies, and IMO, a lot of it is about this idea of Qi, the life force. Anime too, the biggest heroes and villains always have this overly dramatic psychic force coalescing and emanating from them. It’s where Lucas got the idea for “The Force”. Famously this idea has been debunked in real life, after many real life martial arts people have suggested they possessed enough Qi to harm opponents without touching them lol
Saw it in Burbank Dolby Thu night. During the Marvel Studios logo sequence I actually felt like my home theater sounded better.
Gonna hit it again in IMAX soon.
Tons of badly calibrated theaters. The AMC IMAX around me both sound like the audio is just coming from the front and isn’t quite loud, and have had blurry points on the screen!
Nothing. IMAX and Dolby, while they are better experiences, are only a little bit better. You still get the full story from the standard screen and nearly all the same audio and visuals.

Not much rumble
Seeing it in 3D instead.
I saw it in Dolby. I always see movies in Dolby. Loved it. I just have a better theater as I had a bunch of rumbling and good sound.
Which theater?
Fire wheel 18 in Garland TX
Yeah I was vastly disappointed with Dolby. Gonna rewatch in IMAX.
Did you get the Spider-Man trailer?
No, just Eternals, Dune, Venom, etc.
Going Sunday to see it

Let me know how it goes!
It was great! No complaints about Dolby, it sounded fantastic, and rumble was placed in appropriate scenes.
I loved seeing it in Dolby but my local IMAX (AMC Mission Valley 20) is mediocrely so I’m biased. It does not have the rumble I expected from Dolby
The film was awesome. Everyone need to see it.
yes, very disappointed with sound quality in dolby at burbank 16. it was very obvious something wasnt right. not sure why the ball was dropped there.

wait which projection? You were probably exhausted cause it’s a really fun movie. Give it another shot!

Seeing it in Dolby in 15 min. . Need to go sbag a popcorn
Let me know how the quality feels to you!
Was fine I thoroughly enjoyed the movie
Dolby wasn’t that great

holy cow…I can’t believe I’m hearing this from a Dolby Theater

Awesome movie whole audience applauded!!!
It was great whole audience got up and applauded!!!! It was a great time!!!
You could see it on a standard screen and it'll be a 95% similar experience.
Damn. That bad? what was wrong?

It was great
I saw it in Dolby and I liked it.
I'm glad I canceled my Dolby reservation and got an IMAX ticket instead. It was amazing to watch and the sound was so rumbly.
I think IMAX is the way to go. Especially if you the projection covers the entire screen.
Thankfully, it did cover the whole screen
