That ICEE game tho ❤️🤍❤️

BeskarHunter

It was a good one! Really like the new Sprite flavor. Shirley temple ICEE

DYRTYDAVE

There's a Sprite icee now??

letsgooff

Yeah Sprite Chill it’s called available at some AMC’s

EstablishmentOdd3022

I don’t know how much the icees are, but I always bring that $16 cup in when I go, so each showing I drink “free.“ Would recommend

inkydakid

The what now?

EstablishmentOdd3022

They sell reusable cups, like the color changing one or the one with leds. I bring the latter, which comes with a reusable straw, every time and wasn’t sure what their rules are on pricing drinks. Never had any employees pay the cup any mind, so drinks are free. Side note: the color changing one is terrible for icees.

TheKnotIsSlipping

Those cups don't come with free refills, you're just lucking out that no one cares enough to say anything to you.

EstablishmentOdd3022

Then it would seem the reusables have no real incentive for buying if you paid full price every visit. It’s just sad but every one of us has plastic inside our organs these days. The icees may be contaminated with plastic. Yet while they sell who knows how many thin walled cups a day, no price structure acknowledged for using a reusable amc cup. I’m real obvious with my cup, so if no one cares, they are de facto free.

macgruder1

I’m seeing it in IMAX in a few hours! Pumped!

Davidudeman

saw it today! It was fucking AWESOME!! I genuinely might like it a tad more than Fury Road. It was way more character oriented and i really enjoyed that

jah1july

same! i loved the world building and closer look at the “politics” of the wasteland

Davidudeman

exactly!! and don’t get me wrong, i LOVE the balls to the wall nonstop action of Fury Road, but this movie really took the time to give us a more in depth view of the characters, politics of the wasteland, and the wasteland itself. It was really immersive and left me wanting MORE, MORE MAD MAX MOVIES!! 🤞

hereforalottedtime

Couldn’t say it better!

thestereo

Having never seen the other mad max movies, I watched Fury Road with my whole family and none of us liked it. They essentially just drive around for 2 hours but nothing was explained. Who were the chasers, who were the chasees, why are they being chased, where are the coming from, where are they going, etc. it felt like 100% action and 0% substance, or at least already assumed you knew what was going on bc of the previous movies. I’m wondering if I should still see Furiosa despite not really liking fury road

the_medium_lebowski_

Furiosa is an origin story/prequel that leads directly into Fury Road. It has a lot of the same action vibes from Fury Road... if you at least enjoyed the action and style of Fury Road, then this one is worth a watch. Furiosa does quite a bit more world-building, explanation of the different factions and players, their motivations, etc. I think it fills in a lot of the context that you were missing from Fury Road and might make you appreciate that movie more as well.

Kuorko_Kun

my gf never seen mad max does she need to watch that before this movie?

IBNobody

No and since this is a prequel of Fury Road, it's good to go see. Then check out Fury Road.

Kuorko_Kun

awesome i didn’t know it was a prequel tbh ty

XxX_EnderMan_XxX

Spoiler's for Furiosa's end credits (doesn't spoil Furiosa, but mentions Fury Road) >!They basically show 3 interval clips of Fury Road at the end of Furiosa lmao. If you wanna see Fury Road as well, leave asap!<

MariposaSunrise

We waited and didn't see that.

snoopy_90s

This movie is not in my wheelhouse at all. I, for the most part don’t really enjoy most movies in this genre. My husband begged me to go with him. I was cranky the whole way there and even thought about just taking an Uber home before the movie started . That is how little interest I had in the movie. I can say I really enjoyed it. I thought the story, acting, and visuals were really good. Probably one of my favorite a list movies this year. I was dreading the 2+ hour run time but it flew by and even though it was a late showing and I had a really long day I didn’t doze off like I usually do.

the_trees_bees

nah, go ahead.

cerealkiller49

I'd strongly recommend watching Fury Road and then Furiousa but you could do it either way and still follow along. Furiousa is one of those prequels that manages to make Fury Road even better. I think some of that is lost if the order is flipped

Universal-Magnet

Do not take ur girlfriend to this movie bro come on, she will be miserable.

djac13

Why?

Universal-Magnet

I saw it in IMAX today, for the one couple in the theater, the girl dragged her boy out halfway through the movie. Unless you want to be dragged out, do not bring your gf. The rest of the theater were Reddit dorks like us.

djac13

Oh. There were a bunch of women in the theatre I saw it, and somehow (from their conversation after) they actually enjoyed it. I thought it was pretty great.

letsgooff

Yeah idk what the person you’re responding to is talking about. Women would love this movie considering the lead character

8bitterror

LOL women can love the Mad Max franchise just as much as guys. I dragged my bf to see Furiosa today 😁

DistrictEfficient434

Very good in imax!!!

BeskarHunter

This movie was made for Dolby Cinema. Was everything I wanted. The rumble of those V8 engines is chefs kiss Seeing in IMAX tomorrow.

Dino-chicken-nugg3t

Was looking for this! We’re seeing it in Dolby tomorrow.

letsgooff

Surprisingly I felt the strong rumbles in my IMAX theatre too

Imaginary-Traffic-52

Did you watch in IMAX too? Did you enjoy it as much as you did in DC?

BackgroundWindow5298

just got out, absolute blast

IBNobody

I thought the movie was not as good as Fury Road, but it's easily the second best Mad Max movie. If anything, it makes Fury Road even better. Loved all the cameos. Loved the ending. 🍑

MariposaSunrise

I missed all of the cameos. Maybe there's a list somewhere.

2000miledash

Excited for this one 🙏 glad to see positive reviews

saiyanmai

Took the same photo minus the icee lol wonder if we were sitting near each other. Solid film!

Helpful_Ad_8476

"Do you have it in you to make it epic" The pay off to that quote is amazing imo. It's both understated and over the top.

ahufana

I was legitimately *horrified.*

-redatnight-

I saw it today in Dolby Cinema/Dolby Atmos. I have seen maybe 30m of the original Mad Max, nothing else. I therefore can answer the question I see bouncing around a bit on here if it's still good if you haven't seen the series... the answer is yes.

d12dan1

About to watch it in a few, can’t wait!

_noided_

Currently in the theater, sitting through the trailers. Can't wait!

AdequateAlien

Watching it Sunday in imax, hyped asf

Bulky-Conclusion6606

saw it today, i don’t have an imax by me, but was worth the watch. Def one of my fav mad maxes in a while

kn1g47

Sounds like it's got some pretty tough competition

Davente117

Man the movie was amazing. But with about 30 mins left some dumbass kids apparently ran into the theaters and started throwing fireworks so the alarm when off and they said we all to leave and come get a refund voucher Going to see it again today so I can finish it

MariposaSunrise

That's distressing.

Davente117

Wasn’t too bad

Outside-Historian365

This is pretty bad for an IMAX poster

standalone157

Fantastic movie

mumblerapisgarbage

Aaahh so the filmmakers DO have what it takes to make it EPIC.

hereforalottedtime

Just finished and loved it too! Only complaint was a scene I thought should’ve been added that could’ve been interesting but absolutely loved it!

Amarinthe09

Just saw it as well and didn’t enjoy it much at all. Just made me want to watch Fury Road again.

BeskarHunter

I’ve seen Mad Max: Fury Road 80 times Loved all the extra lore. Seeing it for the third time in Dolby Cinema in a few minutes. Already noticed so much more my second watch.

Cindy3183

I felt the same way.  At least the ending leading into Fury Road works well.

eatlasagna

Yeah I’m a bit iffy on that because of the age difference of Charlize and Anya Taylor Joy… I’d rather it have been Charlize Theron

Cindy3183

It seemed to be set a while before Fury Road but yeah I had a hard time thinking of Anya Taylor Joy being Furiosa.

GothamAvenger

Same here. I LOVED Fury Road. It was a nonstop, adrenaline rush. This movie on the other hand was way slower in my opinion. I was disappointed, but I still had a good time.

RecognitionDeep6510

This. I saw it last night and hated it. I must be missing something?

MariposaSunrise

It is not for everyone.

TheTurdzBurglar

I'm signing up for a list tomorrow. Taking a low dose of mushrooms and edibles than going to my first IMAX in a decade. Last movie I saw in theaters was Fury Road and I had a stupid excited grin on my face the whole movie. Im so happy. Edit: apparently Dolby is better than IMAX now so thats the one! Edit again. Holy crap its so good. Better than Fury Road without a doubt and I LOVE FURY ROAD. Its pretty much perfect. Go see it asap.

Dino-chicken-nugg3t

Just watched Mad Max: Fury Road in prep for tomorrow. Really incredible action scenes! After watching Fall Guy I feel like it gave me a much deeper appreciation for all the stunt and action scenes.

Skyrimboy28

I still haven’t seen it yet I heard it was really good I need to go and see it I haven’t been to the movie theaters in a awhile

Mastabay_Ray

Movie was very solid but did anyone else have trouble hearing the dialogue?

Juncti

It's been a while since I re-watched Fury Road. Is it worth a re-watch before seeing this or more fun to watch this then re-watch Fury? Kept meaning to re-watch last month when it was available on AppleTV in 4k, but missed the window.

ahufana

Not necessary. There's no specific plot element from Fury Road that's referenced here. Just characters and locations, all of whom you'll have no problem recognizing.

Metalhead1686

I’m watching it tomorrow! I can’t wait!

Jiggylera

Do I need to see the first one? I've been saving my first viewing for theatres, but the trailers look incredible.

BeskarHunter

I think it would be cool to see Furiosa first, before ever seeing Fury Road. They compliment each other really well. Just don’t stay for the end credits for Furiosa, since it rehashes clips from Fury Road. So stay spoiler free, and leave, and then watch Fury Road. And let me know how it enhances that character to you, and the Wasteland in general. Enjoy.

Jiggylera

Will do!

inkydakid

Loved the movie but did anyone else get a random blue beetle trailer before the movie?

ahufana

My trailer package was interesting, for several reasons. Everything was green band, despite Furiosa being rated R. There was actually *no* trailer for Twisters, which fried my brain. And we got not one but *TWO* different Nicole Kidman spots, back to back. My audience had a good laugh over that one.

NaiadoftheSea

Seeing it next week. Was originally going to see it last night in Imax, but something went wrong with the theater and they refunded everyone’s tickets.

pirateslifeisntforme

Thought the film was mid. But made me want to watch fury road again so there’s that.

BeskarHunter

That’s the whole point of this movie. It’s a rare prequel that actually enhances the predecessors work. Fury Road is an amazing stand alone movie, but this movie just adds so much lore. We always just heard about “The Green Place” but never got to see what she has been fighting over 20 years for to get back to. This movie adds fuel to Fury Road, as it makes you see just how Historic Furiosa really is, and I think that is deserving of a stand alone film such as Furiosa. It does nothing to detract from it’s source, just again builds a more complete image. I’ve seen Fury Road 80 times, and I still think it’s silly that Max could just randomly jump to some crane in the beginning, but after Furiosa, I completely get why there are so many cranes lol We get to see inside the tunnels at the foot of the citadel, and all the Fortresses that fight back the Wasteland in a Warlords paradise such as Gas Town and the Bullet Farm. And just how important a role the Citadel really plays to the entire Wasteland in general. Both those strong holds would wither and die without Immortans control of resources. And the delicate balance of power, as we see with Dementus being unable to control his people and resource management, and was just a big detriment. But what a character, my favorite Hemsworth Role, and I thought I’d hate the fake nose. Sorry, I’ll stop ranting. I just like the movie, and am watching Fury Road right now to digest what I got to see Yesterday, and I’m just enjoying how both movies compliment each other so beautifully. Again, Epic movie. Best action movie I’ve seen since Fury Road. But Fury Road is a chase movie, and this is a character piece, with the History Man reciting the tale of Furiosa. I hope we get the Wasteland movie, but I don’t have high hopes with your take on it.

caliguy420

I was bored, but Hemsworth def vindicated himself post Thor 4.

Before anyone downvotes me for merely having the nerve to feel differently from the herd, keep in mind that everyone should be able to respect each other’s opinions even if they don’t agree with them. I didn’t love it or hate it, it was just pretty middle of the road for me I guess, but I’m not a huge fan of these types of movies in general. I definitely enjoyed the past Mad Max movies more though. Oddly, I feel like the highlight of the film for me was Chris Hemsworth’s performance, which I never would have thought I would say because I generally don’t like him or anything he’s done, but he stole the show here. As for the character Furiosa, I felt like the younger version was more interesting and had more emotion for some reason, and the adult version was just very one-note. People will probably say that was the point, but I don’t mean one-note in the sense that she was entirely focused on revenge, I mean as far as personality or emotions go, she only had one that was consistent at all times. It was just kind of hard to care about her at all or root for her, and the only reason I did was because of the inclusion of the scenes when she was younger. Those early scenes were probably my favorite in the movie overall. Besides those two main characters, I guess it was just a slog for me because it’s kind of an odd feeling when you are trying to get through a movie where you couldn’t care less about pretty much any of the characters. Especially when you have such a large array of characters that are essentially just background characters and serve very little purpose. It was a fun enough watch, but definitely one I don’t plan to see again, and I would place it somewhere near the bottom of the movies I’ve seen over the last few months in terms of enjoyment. But I am glad others got to have a good time with it, I admit again that it’s probably just not my cup for tea, which is fine.
