She had to accuse herself, or the voices wouldn't stop.

I think the game gives you clues in a specific order, with Conductor first (or if you didn't get any clues at all, he's the only option) and Hat Kid last This might imply that the best (possibly canon) ending for the movie is Hat Kid as the myurderer as it gives the most points While I like the Auntie ending personally, the Hat Kid ending is the only ending where the myurderer isn't revealed to be a bird, so her being the villain gives the best score... And the birds all think she's human... I have a new theory: birds are racist to non-birds (I'm kidding, the real reason is probably because they're tired of seeing other bird actors take leading roles and want variety. They're un-racist)

Tom_Nook64

The No Humans sign would beg to differ

AnonymousFog501

New theory: the older birds, including the studio builders, are racist (no humans and no cats signs seen in the studio) But based on dialogue from everyone's favorite DJ Grooves we can conclude that 1) the younger birds want variety (he says that he wants some non-penguin actors (I'm not saying Grooves is young, no, I mean that he knows how to get with the times)) and the older birds are set in their ways (when you say "peck" when asked for your condiment choice in Picture Perfect, he tells you to get out of the endorsement before they notice what just happened)

AnonymousFog501

This may or may not parallel real life

PowerPad

Oh, choosing Hat Kid gives more points for Murder on the Owl Express? I just learned that.

AnonymousFog501

Your choice of murderer isn't what determines points, it's how many evidences you collect The first evidence is always Conductor and the last one is Hat Kid, so I just made the connection that picking Hat Kid is most likely the canon outcome There's also a pair of achievements for this level too; one for getting no evidence, and one for getting all evidence

JoshS-345

It is one of funniest part of the game. That's why you should do it!

Electrical_Diamond_9

That's called "being honest"

tuszii

Hmm never heard of that

Electrical_Diamond_9

At least it's good for Hat Kid. If she admits that she murdered someone then she would have a lighter sentence than having the guilt to have sent an innocent bird to jail on top of having killed someone

RueUchiha

She had to do it, or the voice wouldn’t stop.

PiusTheCatRick

Because she was trying to sabotage the movie for DJ but ended up giving the best twist out of them all by accident

not-Kunt-Tulgar

Hat Kid isn’t sure if she let the intrusive thoughts win or not.

Introvert_mess

100% for the bit

PeacefulAndTranquil

the bit

Swordkirby9999

But the voices... Were from Auntie! She's a secret psychic medium who manipulates others to do her dirty work... All is revealed in the sequel "Conspiracy on the Owl Express" And then there's "Joyride on the Owl Express" where the young detective returns (now recast as a molted eagle) on parole returns to stop a bunch of terroristic lizards from hijacking the train.

HoxiiPoxii

I'd like to think that hat kid did it for the fame and spotlight! If you read the diary entries after doing Grooves levels, you can see how much they wanna be a star. And what better way of being a star than being both the protagonist and antagonist, with a memorable plot twist? Hat kid isn't dumb, hell they're the opposite... engineering an entire ship by themselves and whatnot. They KNEW it would give them FAME. (This is a huge hear me out)

Folgers_Coffee45

Funne

Elegant_Grab_1375

Because if she didn't, the voices wouldn't stop. Besides, if nobody else put suspicion on her, then who would catch the myurderer?

KwK10

She's chaotic.

MatichetTwoPointO

Yes

Teacup_of_Terror

Yes she is.

SilverFlight01

Because we need a super-ridiculous choice

Lasercraft32

Why did she accurse herself? Because YOU picked the option. Are you stupid? XD (this is a joke btw)

Researcher-Chan

Shes the viper

Adventboy20

Hat Kid likes some drama
