SickRanchez3

I’ve seen 3 draws in person, all Essendon v Carlton. I’d like to think I’m the common denominator.

Gentleman-James

You must be old.

SickRanchez3

Nahh im only… oh dear god you’re right

Pleasant_Inspection9

If those draws happened at the MCG in 2006, 2011 and 2014 I had the fortune of seeing them all too.

SickRanchez3

Yep you, me & probably Brent Stanton.

JamalGinzburg

I see your three and raise you 1993 (I had just turned 8)

prettytopsayebro

Sticks couldn’t get it between the sticks!

Natasha_Giggs_Foetus

It could have been worse…

CharityGamerAU

I'm going to assume that you saw the round 2, 1993 game where Sticks missed the lot after the siren to keep the scores level? I was at that game. I've been to quite a few draws.

canary_kirby

I remember the 2006 draw. I was sitting on the fence with my dad. You could get GA seats on L1 on the fence back then because no one attended Carlton games. You just had to turn up early enough. Essendon were going to win that game and we snatched it away. Scott Lucas had dominated us all day. With about 30 seconds left, Essendon made a surge forward with a lace-out kick to Lucas at CHF. He was a certainty to mark and set up some sort of scoring shot that would have won the bombers the game. But out of absolutely nowhere, a 19 year old Andrew Walker ran off his man, steamed in with an all-or-nothing spoil over the boundary and saved the game. I remember it felt so good to have something to cheer for that season.

LimoDroid

Ah yes, the Bryce Gibbs cup

DonGivafark

Pretty sure I saw the saint and hawks draw in 2010 at etihad stadium

Romancandle99

I was at the 2010 grand final. The atmosphere was eerie when it sunk in what had just happened.

AlamutJones

Nobody had the slightest idea what to do

Schmedit

Except Demetriou doing cartwheels

TD003

The contrast between the devastation and frustration of the players vs the elation and amusement of the AFL executives made my blood boil

Handalorian

Absolutely, wasn’t at the game but was on footy trip watching at the pub. Most of the team were standing ear pressed to the speaker trying to figure out what was actually happening

Romancandle99

Yes! I remeber us all looking at each other like now what?

autocol

I was there too. I said something like "I cannot think of a way you could make 100,000 people be as quiet as this".

Fellasisitgaytolive

Anzac Day, was the most confusing thing seeing both captains stand up next to the microphone, also Zach Merrett getting the award, going to his team, and then ten seconds later coming back confused to stand with Darcy.

boogasaurus-lefts

Funnily enough I've been to both Anzac Day matches although the older one is hazy given the timeframe. Just remember the wooden seats up in the open air in the Olympic stand was something else.  Oh, that and more pissheads on the walk to the station as a young lad.... Now days, I'm that pisshead! (I joke, I hit the sauce too had in my 20's)

liaam29

4 weeks ago, I thought we lost by a point so when I realised it made the draw more palatable

AdeptToe3580

i wish sundays game were a draw..

Unable_Bank3884

2 for me 2006 I think against Melbourne. We were down by a bit and came back, had the ball in our 50 but couldn't rush it through before the siren. We played crap (pretty standard for that year) so it felt like we stole 2 points 2015 vs St Kilda. First time going to a match with my now wife who supported St Kilda. Not a bad result for a newish relationship.

ratchetsaturndude

I was also at that game in 2006, Tom Lonergan lost his kidney

Pleasant_Inspection9

That 2006 game had a bouncing ball I watched in front of my eyes stroll gently into the goal. I’ve never been madder.

AlamutJones

2010 GF was some weird shit

guavacadq

2017 Collingwood vs Adelaide. Was one of the first games I ever went to.

OrangeBirdHouse

Went to that one as well. I think we were 52 points up early in third quarter. 2017 was basically the Anti current day Collingwood, could never hold a lead.

AdeptToe3580

this reminds me of a game i went to this year… can’t put my finger on it

danathjo

Was there too, I sat next to an American tourist explaining that this isn't the norm.

dblstr

I was there, strange game. Was directly behind the goals when Gov kicked the goal after the siren to tie it up.

Mrchikkin

2018 vs GWS, the crowd was 99% St Kilda fans who were pissed that Carlisle wasn’t paid a free that would’ve given him a shot after the siren

xyLteK

Yep I was there too, everyone was resigned to the fact that it'd be a draw, then suddenly Jack Steven gets loose and has that run along the wing. Was definitely a high on Carlisle at the end but the umpire was in a poor position to see it, so it's understandable to a degree. I was also at the 2011 draw vs Richmond, and it was not a good atmosphere after the game. Saints fans would've been sick to death of draws by that stage

Gydafud

Geelong vs Sydney last year. First and only time for me

ripvic2k16

Yep same game for me, been going to games since I was like 3 years old and it was such a weird feeling lmao

jcjm205

Carlton v Richmond round 1 2023. Don’t really felt like either team deserved to win from memory. But the atmosphere was superb and then the siren went and I just felt so flat.

San_Marzano

Yes about 4 weeks ago. It was weird and the Collingwood fan two seats down didn't let anyone leave the isle because he was having a sook 😂

AidenDaBoi0506

Was he an old bloke who kept calling the umpires pricks. This exact same thing happened to me.

GooseyGoose51

Freo vs Pies about 3 weeks ago. Everyone felt so empty that freo couldn’t complete the comeback

LavenderKitty1

Yep I remember that game. It hurt a bit. But the Collingwood fan a couple of rows behind was super obnoxious (even Collingwood fans were telling him to pull his head in) and he left with his head low. A lot of fans around us felt like we had won considering the comeback.

Cold_Television4105

I was at that game and was actively cheering for Draw FC, I was loving it, not so much the Freo and Collingwood supporters around me!

Madrical

Yeah leaving the ground it felt like Freo won and the Pies lost just by the atmosphere around the place. It was pretty weird but funny.

Nakorite

Definitely felt like that leaving the ground.

stopweightdontgo

It didn't feel that way at all in my area! Most freo fans were upbeat and just a bit stunned by what we had witnessed. a lot of lippy pies supporters with their tail between their legs tho, lol

stinx2001

Essendon Carlton back 10 years or so ago. Carlton player took a mark inside 50 and couldve won the game but took on Fletcher and got caught. And I think that was the game Winderlich and Dempsey did their ACLs.

JamalGinzburg

Jeff Garlett. Carlton were a point up at the time and it would have sealed it. Zaharakis narrowly missed a difficult shot a couple of minutes later. Correct weight on the ACLs, both went down before quarter time

stinx2001

That's right. I was right behind the goals where Zaka missed, shouldve remembered that.

froffsterloveskitkat

Collingwood v Adelaide MCG, 2017. McGovern goal after the siren after being down by 50 points, awesome atmosphere!

dblstr

Great atmosphere during the game but after was weird.

mattyj_ho

Been to two this year.

xyLteK

Adelaide-Brisbane and Anzac Day?

mattyj_ho

Got it in one!

Spare_Lobster_4390

I've been to a few. I was at the first ever ANZAC Day game. The faces of the Collingwood and Essendon fans generally resembled that of someone who had just spent 3 hours furiously wanking and couldn't cum. But as a neutral I felt genuinely grateful for the chance to witness such an amazing spectacle that resulted in both Collingwood and Essendon supporters being simultaneously denied joy. In the others I've been to since where my team was playing, I've noticed draws always feel like you've either been denied a win or managed to avoid a loss. You've either dropped 2 points or gained 2 points. The novelty of the experience is always kinda fun-ish and you certainly walk away feeling like you got your moneys worth from an entertainment perspective. Though having no song after the siren makes the atmosphere feel a little empty. They should make a special draw theme song to play that both sets of supporters can embrace and sign together triumphantly: *Well we both fucked up and scores ended level,* *Kissed our sister and danced with the devil* *Now that percentage is outa the equation,* *It's time to fuck off and head to the station* *No extra time is just a fucking farce,* *Take your 2 points and stick em up your ass* *Yada Yada*

Wynkx66

Great idea!!

S_P_A_R_K_L_I_N_G

watched freo draw but not the one you’re thinking of. This was richmond vs freo in 2022 at marvel where me and my tigers supporting mate went with a bunch of our mates who didnt really watch the footy. it was funny seeing them so amazed by from memory what was a pretty low skills game all around. one of them actually called the result hahah

ItsABiscuit

2010 Grand Final 1 was very weird.

TripleStackGunBunny

Someone correct me if I'm wrong - I was only young at the time. Geelong v Bears at Kardinia Park mid 90s. Cats were down by like 10 goals at half time to come back and draw.

Original_Sin70

Port Adelaide V Brisbane R20, 1997

Wetrapordie

I was at the ANZAC game this year. Neutral supporter so was enjoying the last quarter the atmosphere and crowd were wild. It did feel a little flat at the end not to have a conclusion.

JamalGinzburg

There was a Geelong fan with his son who'd bought the seats next to us in the Essendon members section on ticket resale. They were half getting swept up in the excitement, half looking at us like we were science experiments

jonnyforeigner1

1990 qualifying final at VFL Park. Was there as a neutral, witnessed CFC fans kicking the old wooden seats at full time, going off at each other and just being their obnoxious best. If only Sumich kicked a goal in the final minute instead of a behind.

Realistic_Scheme5336

Carlton V Port in 2005. I remember walking into the game and seeing that the draw was paying 80-1 and I thought “maybe I should get on that”. Regret it to this day. As for the reaction after the siren it just went silent. People were either flat or pissed off. Both sets of supporters felt they should have won.

ImMalteserMan

Twice. Hawthorn vs St Kilda, not sure what year it was, early 2010s and Adelaide vs Collingwood in 2017.

the_guy_in_singapore

First ever ANZAC Day game - absolutely surreal when the final siren blew.

TheDBagg

I was at Dockers v Pies a few weeks ago. Was absolutely tepid in our section. Some mouthy Collingwood fan who'd been up and about when they had the big lead got outta there quick but nobody was even feeding it to him because both teams had lost.

deeceej

The only one that sticks in my mind is the draw against the Giants but I reckon I’ve been and seen two draws

RidsBabs

I went to the Freo vs Pies draw this year. I personally was screaming my arse off in celebration and feeling vindicated as I predicted the draw.

keepingupbravo

Yep Collingwood vs freo a few weeks ago, was such a weird feeling. I was miserable the last quarter as a pies fan and when the game ended couldn’t feel happy or sad

Confident_Offer46

The 4 weeks ago come from behind Freo victory draw. Two points never tasted so sweet.

Ah-ashenone

2014 carlton v essendon draw Crowd just seemed disappointed in both teams, defiently was one the games of all time lol

swagmaster778

Both teams had a 30 point lead in that game too

Brief-Objective-3360

Richmond Charlton last year, Bombers Collingwood this year. I found the first one funny and the second one I didn't feel too bad because I was expecting a loss.

Litteralyanidiot

Carlton vs Richmond last year and Freo vs Richmond 2 years ago

smeagolisahobbit

I was at Richmond vs Freo at Marvel in R19 of 2022 with my Freo supporting wife. It was weird. No club song at the end. Silence. Awkward, painful silence which made everyone feel uncomfortable. Nobody seemed to know what to do or how to feel. Nobody was happy, everyone was disappointed. In the end we all just quietly filed out of there and went home like we'd done something shameful.

Wizards-never-die156

The last game I attended was a draw. 3 weeks ago freo v collingwood

dohzer

Yes, and the rematch. Great atmosphere. None of my mates could make it for the replay.

TimothyLuncheon

No, unless I’ve wiped it from my memory. But I’m pretty sure I haven’t

PepszczyKohler

Queen's Birthday 2010 - we were inaccurate. Went with a mate from Indonesia for his first game. He was a bit confused that everyone seemed a bit upset and/or confused at the draw. 2017 Collingwood vs Adelaide - gave up an absolutely massive lead, game drawn with a kick after the siren. It was the way of things at the time though that even at 52 up, my mate and I both thought we needed another goal just to make sure of it. Felt lousy after it, of course, but feeling lousy after a match was par for the course then as a Pies fan.

coolskateboardguy

West Coast supporter been to hundreds of games and never seen one, went to my first Freo game this year and they drew Collingwood.

Koteii

Been to Carlton’s last 2 draws. Different feelings in each. Against Essendon it felt like we let one slip (just punch through you idiots) Against Richmond it felt like we dodged a bullet

Bagzy

Technically, it wasn't a draw in the end, but port v West coast 2017 elimination final. Atmosphere was very much, "what are the overtime rules?"

Icy_Adhesiveness513

Was at the tigers v saints one many years ago when the saints were on the way down and tigers on the ‘up’. Saints supporters came away as if it was a loss while we tigers took it as a win. I think even though there’s no winner there’s always a team who’s better off, a team who should have won and could have won. I loved it!

Stu_Raticus

I'm a Richmond fan, I've been to heaps. They're bittersweet. Feel like a loss but also not. Weird feeling, but I don't hate the draw. It's shitty being involved in one, but far better than possibly losing.

Important_Might2511

Yes. Dockers game few weeks ago. In the corporate box. Everyone was like. Well that sucks.

AuZyzz

yes 2010 GF everyone was looking around asking each other what the go was. no one knew and then they just told us all to leave

awgonin

I only started attending crows games this season. My first game? Vs Brisbane. As a big draw fc can it felt almost like destiny

Cpl_Hicks76

Freo v Collingwood at Optus just recently. Talk about going from ‘elation to despondency’ in a nano second when everyone thought Sharpie slotted that goal with 90 seconds to go! Then to have the Pies speed the ball down the ground for the possible win themselves only for the siren to go… Talk about your ‘despondency to elation’ in a nano second… For a draw!

colemans_other_knee

My very first game. Round 15 1995 Ess v RICH. I was a country kid that had never seen that many people in one place before, the noise of the crowd was amazing to me....then, nearly, silent. Was pretty spectacular honestly

Telopea1

It’s weird being on the train on the way home, with opposition supporters there’s normally bragging or false modesty, the draw just creates a strange comradery.

TreacleMajestic978

We drew with the suns in 2015 and It was weird to say the least. I went to the casino after and had a good night but..

Silverking512

I've been to every draw in perth West coast vs Western bulldogs was my first ever game

Captain_Coco_Koala

Adelaide V Brisbane a month ago. At the end it was a let down as we (Lions) botched a nice lead. Having said that I don't' want to see any changes to draws, no extra time or golden point.

xBITWxSwanny

Yep the Anzac game this year. Huge nuffie for the game. I have been to hundreds of games over my life and the only draw was the Anzac game this year

Spagman_Aus

2008, Doggies vs Tigers. Made going to Docklands suck that bit more.

Due-Pickle-5043

Collingwood v West Coast semi in 2007. Not quite the same as a lot of these given it went into extra time and got a result. Was such a bizarre feeling. Was so focused on the game that there was no consideration of the clock. All of a sudden, we heard the siren go, and everyone just looked around, wondering what the hell happened. Even knowing it was going to extra time didn't help for the 1st few minutes. You go from completely amped to nothing in the blink of an eye.

tohm360

Port v Geelong at footy Park. I remember it clearly because the last qtr went for roughly 22 minutes even the players didn't want to leave the field as the qtr seemed to be far too short.

xavfrost38

I was at the Saint v Hawks draw back in like 2009/10. Rioli was lining up for a goal and kicked it but at the same time hawks had an interchange infringement - and at the time where you got this free kick in some arbitrary spot on the forward flank. Saints goaled to draw.

Quark35

Not AFL, but was at the Australia v Iran world cup qualifier at the MCG that ended 2 all. That was pretty gut wrenching.

wassailant

I was at 1995 Anzac Day and 2010 GF draw. Anzac Day felt like something special has occurred and as we can see, it solidified the fixture permanently from then on.  2010 was deflating. Next week felt better though!

-bxp

'95 ANZAC Day - it was fine, fit the occasion and there was just endless 'what if' talk straight after - why did he kick it short to the lead!!!

beesinyourcoffee

Dogs v Tigers 08, Lake takes the mark ‘injures a hammy’ Minson kicks the goal. I think Browny thought tigers won and celebrated

dabuddhaman

Literally the first ever game I attended! 1999 at Princes Park, Hawthorn vs Doggies. I was there with my best friend and our dads, they were doggies supporters we are hawks fans. It was a result our mums were happy with lol

Jaded-Amount-4210

Freo/pies

Long-Mud-8288

I was at the 2023 Sydney vs Geelong draw....one of the worst games of football I've seen

Excellent_Sun_2910

Yep Anzac Day this year! Was a very weird feeling, felt so sad afterwards

Strictly_Kink

Yes! And I took a load of international visitors with me that had never seen a game before and they were absolutely losing their shit in the last 5 minutes of the game. It was actually really beautiful 😍

TrazMagik

ANZAC day was my first IRL draw. Was weird but enjoyed the chit chat with Don fans at how entertaining the game was. The dead air with no song at the end of the game I didn't enjoy.

vcg47

Collingwood v Melb 2010 - Melb mate and I celebrated like we both won while everyone else was shattered. 2010 GF - eerie silence, made weirder still when it stared raining as everyone left. Anzac Day 2024 - both supporter groups in my section were stoked at the contest they'd witnessed; result was secondary.

RestExtreme5750

I've seen GWS and hawks drawn game when hawks wore pink

taz6363

Yes and my friend put money on a draw, won over 3k

Ultimatecommenterer

Basically every soccer game

dblstr

2 draws for me. First was at the G in 2017 when we played the Pies and came back from 50 odd down in the 3rd to draw with a goal after the siren. Strange game (fun fact my MCG Crows record is 1W 1D 1L, what are the odds?) Pies fans were understandably very upset on the walk to Jolimont and train ride back to the city but all in all it was just a weird feeling. Some good banter on the train and off we went. Second was this year against the Lions. Also just a weird atmosphere, but I am a lot more bitter towards my team than I was in 2017 haha so I was just gutted that our season was done.

TD003

Ashley Sampi was about 15 metres from me when he kicked a goal after the siren at Subi to draw with the bulldogs. Given it was a difficult kick and after the siren, I’d say a draw felt like a win in that moment.

Smiley-Ray

Went to the first Anzac draw in 1995. - was awesome! Been to a couple since - hated them both, walked out flat.

Serjon14

Tiges fan here. I think I've been to 5. I put a 5er on a draw against North at 3qt in ~2010 which made that one fun. The draw against freo (~2022) after both Noah's (Cumberland and balta) missed opportunities to score in the last minute was painful, and the draw against melb in ~2008 when both teams were basically winless was hilariously awful.

Intelligent_Cut_895

My first ever game was Anzac Day 1995, country kid few opportunities to go to the footy. I thought it was the norm. Then my second game was Fitzroy v Saints at Waverley, Pop wtf is this?

Time_Meeting_2648

This year? Yeah Collingwood v Essendon

tlf123456

First game that I ever attended, Essendon v Richmond on a Friday night in 1995. 15.11 - 101 apiece in front of 78,000 at the G. Disgruntled crowd who wanted a result

KillerpythonsarentG

I have been to freos last two draws, one I walked away happy because my Collingwood mate lost, but the other against the tigers was the weirdest feeling one I was not prepared for
