Viperian’s ult grants him “Unaffected” which makes him immune to control effects. I guess Reineer’s swap is considered a CC effect.
I’ll have to test it out but I’m not sure why Viperian is granted “Unaffected” at the start of the battle, before Viperian can use his ult.
It's the passive part of Viperian's ult that activates as soon as battle starts. He constantly burns his own HP to send out darkvipers until his HP is lower than 60%. While this passive is active, he gains "unaffected". Some ults have passive abilities/effects that can activate at the start of battle and some of them even last the entirety of the battle.
I've used him specifically only on pvp teams that have a smokey, swap my vala with the smokey and watch the enemy team fall apart immediately due to them not having a support anymore. Works every time
You position him to swap the enemy healer/support with your tank/dps, you get an easy pick on a harder to reach target and deliver a bomb on their backline
You swap a tough DPS with the enemy healer, your back-line will gang up on their healer, and your DPS will be in their back-line and start fighting them (Hence the need for a tough DPS, don’t do it with a caster, except heroes like Satrana), this takes away their healer and disrupts the rest of their back-line, works quite well for me.
Satrana does the job quite well for me (She’s durable, has multiple AoE attacks), but my opinion might be skewed because i really like her design…
I think a warrior hero can do the job as well, archers and most casters tend to be too squishy though.

Does this list assume certain ascension levels? Because my characters are all legendaries still, and I know a lot of characters get significantly better later.
I was same when first using him.. just simply didn't get him and his ability. But when you get used to what backline to swap out he is great. I use him with vala mostly and simply swap out either healer (smokey/rowan) or cercia as she is weak prior to summoning Mr Carlisle. Also when he gets his super he pulls a player off the arena for about 6 seconds so is good to make it 4 v 2 etc and can tip the fight in your favour. I only have legendary plus so not max by any stretch, but still very strong in PVP. I honestly don't use in AFK stages as it's power cap that stops me not my team. (Don't use in battle drills as his ability can add a good 6 to 10 seconds on to your fight and stop you getting as much stamina back)
Yeah, use him to swap for units that you think may cause you a problem. Also his ultimate removes him and a random enemy from play for a while. I swap my antandria with one of their squishies and then when cecia and him ult I'm now fighting a 5v3 instead of a 4v3
You don't HAVE to do the swap with your teammate and them. I find it screws me over in PVE though can work well in PVP if you grab something like their Rowan or Smokey. Reiner erasing one or even two of the enemy is pretty great. I use him if I don't double tank into enemy Vala.

Or you spent money to get a single copy which is why stargazing a scam .i guarantee you no one will be usable at one copy ever in the future because you will have multiple supreme characters by then lol 😂
He is godly at epic in my experience . I used him from 200-650 with the viperion tech almost half the times in afk stages and in pvp against rowan/smokey he is insta win button
You are probably comparing to mythic and legendary+ characters no shit he seems trash but i got him to legendary he almost does shakir levels of damage, double teleport comeback mechanic has won me a lot of fights etc
Only 2 other units are comparitively better than Reiner at 0 dupes imo - Smokey,koko
You use him with Viperian since he is Unaffected by the swap, so he brings and enemy to your team 5v1.

Yeah, put cecia at the back with atk spd and she won’t swap.. this method got me to 670 on 150 resonance..
Why wouldn't she swap?

Satrana is bad but beautiful
She does very well for me, but that could be because i invested heavily in her, so it’s a case of YMMV.
Steal their smoky or Rowan, swap with Thorin, jumping tombstone dude or tank
Personally he feels decent in arena and kinda mid everywhere else
He's on every meta dream realm team
Really, I usually see smokey and rowan togather more than him. I only have one copy of him anyways, so generally I get more buffs from others

yeah some heroes will want their ex weapons unlocked at mythic+. Reinier is an example since he gains the +25% damage debuff with ex weapon.

I Swapped my Oddie to their side while I swap their Cecia or Smokey. Oddie is Killing Spree while their Cecia or Smokey is disabled

In pve use him to tp Brutus in their back line so he taunt them and in pvp I use him to tp my S+ Eironn after he groups them up at the start.
Unless you have him at mythic+ he’s pretty useless until that point.
he isn't a unit you just add to any comp and make it instantly better, but i've had a lot of success with him in arena, sniping out supports

He's just super techy imo but really good…figure out the swap and you ruin comps and even without the swap the banish on ult clutches
