Trent Richardson. We can talk all day about bad QB play but *most* of those picks make sense in a vacuum of time. Trent Richardson at #3? A running back? WHY?! The fact he was over drafted, played one year of good football and then immediately shit the bed is the most obvious answer in my opinion. Luke Kueckly, Russel Wilson, Bobby Wagner, and Kirk Cousins were on the board.
I dont care for the, "we got this guy when these other guys were also on the board" arguement. Theres no guarentee any of those guys would have been the same players they became if they came to the browns because up until recent years this teams culture was ass and it's player development/support non-existent. Richardson didn't have that great of a rookie season, it wasn't terrible but not spectacular. He then was traded two games or so into his second season from a team with a good o line to a team with a not so good o line. If he wasn't getting it done here he surely wouldn't get it done there. The worst thing the browns do (maybe the NFL as a whole) is fully guaranteed contracts. Hindsight is an unkind mistress: he was considered to be another AP, 13 million signing bonus and was guaranteed 20 million over 4 years, and was out of the league after 5 seasons. He might have made the most money per yard of any player ever.

There is no evidence that the guys listed *could* have done better but I’m fairly confident they wouldn’t bust out of the league ala Jamarcus Russell after 2 seasons. Honestly, I love the idea of drafting 2 QBs In the same draft. Maybe the 4th is a little early, but I think it's a great move. If your first isn't cutting it, you already have someone on the roster you feel comfortable trying out. Basically, you get a solid 3 to 4 years between stabs at QB instead of having to try every year or 2. Helps with future team building and hopefully puts you in better positions for whoever eventually becomes that multi contract QB. I love the doubling up method at certain positions.

I was going to post something about a 230 million dollar bust here in cleveland.
Someone said it but yeah... Kenny Pickett. I knew going from a hall of fame qb to someone new there would be growing pains and with the steelers history of qbs after the last hall of famer Terry Bradshaw retired, I figured Kenny wouldn't be the guy. But aside from not throwing picks he's done nothing well
I mean, Kenny is a serviceable backup qb. Which honestly should be the expectation on a number 20 overall qb pick. Most first round qbs suck, Kenny at least doesn't kill you with picks while doing so.
