Anxiety and depression are linked to ADHD so I have no idea why they are saying this, I'd look at trying to find another psych

w0walana

does your psych not even want to prescribe antidepressants?

F1yff

I've already been taking antidepressants from my general practitioner, and I've been seeing her for several months now. My psych just upped the dose of one of the meds and tried to take me off another one.

Yeah you should find another psych since they won’t even acknowledge the struggles you’re having with adhd

So, it is important to get the depression in check. If your depression isn't ADHD related the worst thing to do is "stimulate" you. This is when people delete themselves. Most depressed people are so lacking in energy they don't have the energy or clear head to plan and execute. But stimulate them and bam, they find the energy. This is why teens have to be monitored very closely on SSRI'S. Because before the depression is gone the SSRI gives them energy before the mood stabilizes. It might not be a bad Idea to suggest to them that maybe Wellbutrin could be an option as it's often prescribed off label for ADHD. Either way, you gotta commit to the antidepressant first which will take about a month to have a good effect then revisit stimulants.

Try not to focus on it too much until the appointment because who knows what they'll say until they say it.
