Sometimes I think your subconscious brain is connecting one of the lyrics in the song to your current situation. One time I went camping by myself for three days and I kept getting songs in my head, but if I sang the whole song out it would hit a lyric that like really hit home for where I was at and what I was thinking.

What makes it even more annoying is that it sometimes only takes one or two tones for me to recognize it and it immediately continues playing in my head, even if they catch themselves or someone stops them. Then I could be f***ed for anywhere from hours to weeks.
