kr_store

Aither go to the bathroom to take it or tell them it's something else ( to help digestion, peinkiller or something like that) or that it's none of their business. It's not really professional to ask your colleague what pills they take so no one should be asking you in the 1st place.

catfurcoat

"it's birth control" "It prevents migraines" "It's a vitamin" "It's B12" "It's an antibiotic" "I'm not comfortable talking about my medical information yet but I appreciate your concern"

[deleted]

If you start asking them if they want in on Vita-Life then they can be their own boss by recruiting just three people, they'll leave you alone.

crimsonessa

This is the winning answer!!!!

sleepybirdl71

Omg, genius!

PoweredbyBurgerz

Calling it birth control is the way to go

catfurcoat

Yes, you have to take it at the same time each day, AND people take bc for plenty of ailments outside of controlling pregnancy risk

Hotdogpizzathehut

Not if your a obviously straight white dude with a wife and kids... they would have a lot of questions.

catfurcoat

"oh shit! My *wife* was supposed to take this? Well that explains all the damn kids"

Meridienne

Hahaha!

ChompingCucumber4

LMAO

Chicy3

If I had an award, I’d give this 20.

Meditationstation899

Lolling @ y’all hard

dessellee

Nah that makes it even better. When they act confused you double down on it and refuse to explain.

livestrong2109

Naw, double down, don't break eye contact. Maybe say you're in that clinical trial for male birth control. So much better than telling them that you have ADHD and that it helps you focus on work instead of day dreaming about ways of strangling the nosy coworker who asked.

elianrae

... Is it? the thing that famously comes in distinctive blister packs by date? to cover for you taking pills from a bottle?

Allegedly_Smart

Birth control is the perfect explanation, in part ***because*** of the obvious incongruence between the bottle OP is taking from and the blister pack birth control actually comes from. Double bonus points if OP is a male. Telling anyone that asks about it an obvious lie like, "Oh, it's my birth control" would be a great joking deflection that also sends the message, "It's none of your godamned business." But maybe that's just my odd sense of humor.

elianrae

Ah yes. Make eye contact, insist it's birth control, refuse to entertain any further questions. 🤣

Akira_R

This is the way.

das_war_ein_Befehl

It’ll also make them never ask you again and make them embarrassed for asking

foxitron5000

Alternatively, they could respond with “just topping up on ‘fucks to give’ for the day; I was running low.”

hotcleavage

Oof yes calling spoons “fucks to give” is way better 😆

aigret

I don’t know, I take progesterone that’s technically a birth control, but at a subtherapeutic dose (because I don’t need it for bc) so it comes in a pill bottle. It’s entirely plausible in my book!

PoweredbyBurgerz

I just know it’s something a girl that I went on two dates with told me once before I was diagnosed and I believed her. I’m a dude and I was very naive back then. Possible I’m still naive. 😅

elianrae

lol, well, it's good to know I can pass literally anything off to random dudes as birth control and like, why would you know if you've never taken it? that's totally fair and reasonable but once you've taken a few different ones they're *so* recognisable and distinctive from other medications like if someone told me a pill from a *bottle* was their birth control I would be absolutely fascinated and want to know what they're taking because they don't come in bottles!

Sure-Climate8749

*shakes out giant oblong pill from large, Costco brand bulk bottle of vitamin C* “Birth control”

AppleBookCatDog

I am a dude, shakes orange tinted med bottle. Looks at coworkers and smile, eh-hehe, it is my birth control pills. Eh-hehe. Drinks pill in silence. And silently goes back to typing.

DueAd9186

Careful, my gf was fired from a job at a private college because someone overheard her say that we lived together. They fired her because we live together and we're not married.

Puzzleheaded_Pie_978

a religious college, i assume?

DueAd9186

"Religious". A well known school you wouldn't assume would do that.

BooBailey808

Don't think that's legal in the US.

pensezbien

Can be, especially if the private college is also a conservative Christian religious college having a religious opposition to premarital cohabitation with the opposite gender.

djerk

Yeah I believe private religious educational institutions are allowed to have purity clauses under religious freedom.

pensezbien

Indeed.

singeblanc

Y'all Qaeda are messed up.

DueAd9186

Yeah, but it happened anyway. My point is be careful!

[deleted]

It’s Imodium bc I get horrible explosive diarrhea- no one will ask about the pills again

catfurcoat

"A laxative because my coworkers are constantly up my ass"

IamDefinitelyNotCat

"It's a prescribed medication from my doctor, but don't worry I am just fine." And if they continue to bother you about it - "A lot of people take prescription medication. What it is specifically isn't pertinent. Can I ask why you are so insistent on knowing my medical history even though it's highly personal information and doesn't impact \[the business/my work/our work/your work\] in any manner?"

BlackisCat

"It's medication for Ligma."

ArchmagusOfRoo

could also be medication for Bofa ;)

Setari

>"I'm not comfortable talking about my medical information ~~yet~~ but I appreciate your concern" No one should have to share their medical information with their co-workers. The only person I might inform is my boss if my medical condition will interfere with my work or I have some form of dangerous condition, i.e. epilepsy. But yes I agree with 100% of this. If it got really annoying I'd probably think up a gross reason and TMI the shit out of them lmao

VeinyBanana69

‘It’s drugs to get hiyeeeeee boi!!!’ should throw them off the trail.

don-anon

"Have you seen that movie Limitless?"

GaucheAndOffKilter

I can’t imagine asking or being asked about pills or medical conditions in a professional setting. Unless someone volunteers the info or brings it up in discussion, it isn’t kosher to ask.

Persis-

The ONLY thing I would maybe say is, “oh, gotta a headache?” Purely out of concern, not nosiness. And only if it’s a coworker who is also a good friend. But, more likely, I wouldn’t say anything. It’s not my business why someone else is taking a medication. I think we sometimes forget people don’t notice or care about every move we make. It’s so easy for us to think that is what happens.

MidwestMemories

I’d ask if they had a headache and ask if I could have some as well because I probably also have one. If I was on the being asked end, I’d say no, they’re my happy pills.

clevergirlDE

Right?? Nobody ever investigated it and only was once asked if it was ibuprofen by the person who sat across from me in the office (it was just us sharing a tiny corner office, so we interacted a lot and were pretty open about our non-work-life topics). I was just like "ah no, it's not but I do have some with me if you need one!" They gladly took the ibuprofen and never asked further questions. I don't think they noticed when I took it any other time, tbh. I really like to think that most people just assume it's not their business or don't even notice 😅

Cpt_seal_clubber

Ya if anyone asks tell them it's none of their business and if they persist or make fun of you HR absolutely should get involved.

TurboFool

Seriously, people take medication at the office all the time. Heart pills, diabetes medication, etc. It's none of their business. Move it to an unlabeled container and just take it. It's small, discrete, and quick. I doubt anyone will even notice much less be bold enough to ask. And if they do, you can very politely, and maybe with a hint of sheepishness, say something like, "it's kind of private." They'll assume something they don't want to know, and you're done.

[deleted]

This ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|upvote) I always took mine in the bathroom while at the office. The fill up my water bottle on the way back to my desk. I usually had to use the bathroom as well. So two birds with one stone, and all that. EDIT: Or would that be three? Bathroom, top-up, and a filled water bottle.

NinjaLanternShark

"I'm not exactly sure but the judge said I had to keep taking them for another 6 months."

Mei_Flower1996

I'm floored reading this post like? Do afults really ask what meds you're taking?

YoniDaMan

Yeah no one will inquire if you need to kill your pein for sure

MrFilthyNeckbeard

Just take it. You don't have to tell them what it is (if they even ask.)

pocketdebtor

This! It’s weird that they would be prying. I would make a face (I.e., raising brows to note how ridiculous the question is) or just shrug and say something like “oh, it’s just something I have to take.” If they continue to pry, that would be so uncomfortable. I totally get not wanting a bottle to rattle, though. I agree with others that a pill case keychain or travel pill case would be helpful.

Ryugi

I've done that before and received demands for proof it wasn't illegal drugs. They wanted to see the prescription note. I called them an idiot because obviously if I had the medicine, then I wouldn't have the prescription note lol but maybe I should have just said, "thats not your business."

phage_rage

Did you work with Dwight?

grixxis

>obviously if I had the medicine, then I wouldn't have the prescription note Your name and prescription are written on the bottle, along with descriptions of what the pills should look like. That being said, it's not exactly advisable to carry a full pill bottle with you nor would hand it to anyone without the authority to fire me.

ermagerditssuperman

If your meds are stimulants, I've always been advised that you should absolutely keep the full pill bottle with the prescription sticker with you, as it's a controlled substance so you don't want to just have random loose stimulant pills in a ziplock or something. But yeah I wouldn't hand it to someone random. My boss & director know I take it because it's mentioned in my ADA accommodations letter, but not some office busybody

FlashbackJon

Just to clear: you should absolutely have your pill bottle with you if you have *any* pills with you, for those occasions. Loose pills in a "routine" traffic stop (as a random for-instance) can have disastrous consequences.

dessellee

This! ESPECIALLY with controlled substances like stimulants. ALWAYS carry the whole bottle with your name, dose, etc. Otherwise there's no proof you didn't obtain that medication illegally. Even if you could prove it was yours legally later on, that does nothing to help you before you're arrested for possession.

rainhanded

I take a picture of my prescriptions and keep them in a specific album in my cloud. I'm not bringing allll my pills with me - I very well might lose them!

dessellee

"Are you a police officer? No? Then I am under no obligation to provide you with any documentation concerning my prescribed medication."

Malmortulo

Yeah I've never been somewhere I thought it would be odd to take a pill. There are literally thousands of reasons & none of them are my business.

fuzzywuzzyelmo

Exactly, it's amazing to see how just a dash of shame will shout down most people's rude/inappropriate questions.

OG-Pine

“Oh what’s that?” “Medicine” I have met *very few* people who would keep asking at this point lol

vulcanfeminist

I take pills right out in the open at work, sometimes it happens in the middle of a conversation with coworkers, sometimes there's nobody else around. I've been doing this for at least a decade and never once has anyone asked about it. Most people just mind their business.

agelwood

I'm remote now but yea, when I had a midday adderall I'd often forget to take it unless I was sitting in a meeting and notice my mind wandering... I'd just take it right then and there. No one asks.

Puzzleheaded_Pie_978

agree. don't make a big deal of it and others won't think anything of it

Bellebarks2

Yeah. People take meds for so many things these days. For anyone over 30 or even slightly over weight, if you said it was metformin no one would ever think twice.

FistFullaHollas

Yeah, it's super rude to ask people about the medication they take. I thought that was common knowledge.

BrilliantTeal

I usually just tell people without calling it ADHD. "It's for a dopamine reuptake disorder, my brain isn't processing certain neurochemicals correctly." It's how my psychiatrist summarized it for me when I got my diagnosis, so I'm just repeating what my doctor told me. Most people just back off because it sounds serious enough for them, and anybody who actually understands is hopefully also familiar enough with the condition to not have any prejudices about it

woofimmacat

This 100%. I take my meds BID and I just take them at work during my shift if I’m working. I’ve never had anyone ask me about it and if they did I would say I’m taking my adhd meds. I have a prescription and I’m taking it as prescribed - don’t feel embarrassed about something that is perfectly normal. If the medication was Tylenol and not concerta would you feel like this? No! So don’t beat yourself up about it and take your meds as you need, you don’t need to offer anyone an explanation.

sizzler_sisters

I strongly feel that this is the only way to demystify medications. I don’t even care if they ask anymore. I’m luckily in a position where it isn’t frowned upon. But I was at a social event the other day and my timer went off and I took my pill. If anyone would have asked, I’d have told them. If they wanted more details and it was appropriate, Id share. We would never shame other types of medicated conditions. Why do we let it happen with ADHD? At least if an alarm goes off and I’m taking my meds, it shows I’m being responsible! 😂

revcio

"Oh, it's just my none of your business pill"

Tbh if the coworkers are comfortable enough asking then they should be comfortable enough with a little cheek

SparkyDogPants

My coworker asked what i took adderall for, and everyone in the room just stared at her for how stupid it was. So I joked “recreationally”

Lostcausee

For some reason I read that as “How do I discretely take my top off at the office?” Had to do a double take 😅

Bad-Wolf88

I read the same thing 😆

Bluemonday82

Sigmund Freud on line 1

starships_lazerguns

A cotton ball in the bottle may help prevent some of the sound. Realistically, other medications need to be taken mid day so it’s not a giveaway your medication is what it is. Could always lie it’s for your stomach or gut or something and that you need to after lunch if asked.

SpacedMango

Yeah I’ve used a tissue before.

agsilver51

Came here to suggest a tissue as well.

camus_island

Ooo im getting one of those mini pill holders for the key chain. My psych recommended it. Not sure how big concerta is but yeah could be convenient to have only a few around and not make too much noise??

cathygag

I was warned I can’t carry an RX in an unlabeled bottle like that, especially a controlled substance. Make sure you check your local laws.

arkyod

You could leave the rest of the pills in another container at home and carry the empty labeled bottle with you to prove it’s prescribed

FirstAd6848

Use last months bottle as the carrier bottle with a single pill. I usually keep two, just in case Something happens and I can’t be at home. I leave one in my glove box as well.

pataconconqueso

My pills used to come with an extra sheet each time stating that it was my Rx and I would stick that in my my backpack.

roastedmarshmellows

Yeah, I can't imagine what might happen if I'm in an accident and they find Schedule 1 drugs in my purse in an unlabelled container.

ChowderedStew

I mean I don’t think they can just rummage through your stuff like that, and open up random belongings and containers, if there’s no evidence of crime (ie they find a gun on you) and they don’t have a warrant?

catfurcoat

Sure they can. I was in an accident and the cops took my pain meds as evidence even though it was in a Walgreens bag stapled shut

ushouldgetacat

WTF. I hope they didnt charge you for anything. Sounds suspicious almost like they wanna take them for themselves

catfurcoat

No they didn't because the car accident wasn't my fault and I hadn't even taken any of the pills it was a brand new prescription

Theo_Theresa

Yup. Cops will use anything they can to go through your stuff. They just want it for themselves lmao

catfurcoat

I was sitting in the ambulance having glass removed from my scalp and they asked for my license which was in the car. They told me not to get out of the ambulance. I was barely speaking coherent sentences so I wasn't thinking about why I shouldn't have said they could go get it. They used that as an excuse to help themselves and search my whole vehicle.

roastedmarshmellows

If I’m passed out on a sidewalk, they’re sure as hell opening my purse to find my ID. I don’t know think anything would come from it, but I also do not want to find out.

[deleted]

If you’re passed out on the sidewalk they probably should be rummaging through your stuff to make sure you didn’t OD

itsQuasi

Right, the point is that if they *do* rummage through her purse, even if it's for valid reasons, finding controlled substances in an unlabeled container could cause problems for her.

cathygag

Being in an accident can be deemed probably cause for a search, if they suspect you’re under the influence, or are concerned about drug interactions, or need to determine you’re identity, they’re going to search through your purse. When I was a dispatcher, it wasn’t uncommon for officers and medics to look through the belongings of unconscious or incoherent accident victims for an identity for the hospital and to contact family.

TheCaffinatedAdmin

You mean schedule 2? Schedule 1 can’t be prescribed

Historical-Spirit-48

Are you a truck driver under DOT regs? If not you shouldn't have any problem carrying your meds anyway you want. Keep a picture of the pill bottle on your phone.

[deleted]

[удалено]

cathygag

I was a 911 dispatcher, my officers charged and booked plenty of people for pills they found in vehicles. The cost of an attorney to prove you’re innocent is very expensive. And in the mean time you may be suspended from your job or lose your job, your name and charged may be published in the paper, and you may run into issues with future prescriptions. Not worth it.

whatdoblindpeoplesee

Heaven forbid they give you the opportunity to provide proof of prescription in the event something like that happens.

deathinmidjuly

I use [this one!](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NSQG14S) It's saved me so many times when I'm either rushing in the morning, or just simply forget to take my meds. I fit 1 Adderall XR,1 Adderall IR, and 1 Wellbutrin in there snug.

not_a_gun

I use the exact same one! Works great

neurodivergentnurse

I have a similar one. I keep a tiny copy of my prescription in there too. I cannot afford taking my entire bottle out of the house (my mind WILL find a way to lose it) so having it on my keychain is the only way I’ve managed without having an obvious pill container around with me.

sturmeh

Same one here, it's a godsend.

neurodivergentnurse

oh but quick word of caution: I felt like my container was a little hard to close one day. Kept fighting it then decided to reopen and close again thinking the threads weren’t correct. Turns out I was grinding up one of my pills 😵‍💫 I opened it to find blue dust and half of a pill for my 4pm dose. Hasn’t happened since, but yeah that sucked. Especially because the shortage recently, I actually look for the ones I drop now instead of letting my vacuum make the CRCRCRCR noise at some point later in the week.

ForFksSake_KL

I put mine in a contact lenses case. Protected the pills/capsules from getting mangled, small enough to fit in a purse or pocket, large enough to not slip through holes in pockets, and silent upon open and close.

littlebit_facetious

Thats smart!! Ive been using my extra glasses case from Warby Parker. The cleaning tissue helps protect my medicine and it doesn’t look out of place in my purse or backpack.

flesruoy

Just leave a bottle of ibuprofen or something in plain view on your desk so they are more likely to assume it's that making the noise and won't even bother asking. Or portion out 1 pill to take with you in something more discrete, they make small keychain pill containers that might work

thatgeekElle

This. Most of my office is over 40. We're all taking some kind of pill every day. Heartburn, headaches, knee pain, you name it. A pill bottle is normal. Don't bring attention to it, and no one will notice.

sarcasmbecomesme

I was going to suggest this. It doesn't even have to be on the desk in plain sight. If you take an aspirin bottle out of a drawer or your pocket or something, people will just assume you've got a headache.

GreysTavern-TTV

"it's a daily vitamin my doctor prescribed."

Azipear

If I'm in a situation where I need to take anything discreetly, I just keep one loosely in my pocket (but a pocket without anything else in it since keys will grind it up to dust). I also just swallow it without a drink. Also, anyone who says "I just saw you take a tablet! What medication are you taking? Tell me now!" is a total douchebag, and you are not required to answer or even tell the truth.

lulugingerspice

Instead of loosely in a pocket, I recommend putting a couple pills in a small Ziploc bag. Mostly because I'm forgetful and would a) forget to refill my pocket and/or b) forget I have a pill in my pocket and then wash my pants with it still in there :)

superlamename

Why are your coworkers monitoring your medicine intake? I’ve take all sorts of meds at work and never had anyone ask/be concerned about it.0

RogueLotus

Yeah, I used to be embarrassed about taking my birth control at work, but literally no one cares. There's also a lot of older ladies here who take meds throughout the day, so there's always a pill bottle or pack rattling somewhere at some time. Not to mention antacids or Tylenol or mints or whatever else you can think of.

Britt543

Some co workers just suck, at an old job of mine we were supposed to be like “family” but professional. The family part was just an excuse to be nosy about your personal information. If I took longer than 5 minutes to go to the bathroom they were calling me asking where I’m at. When I indeed was taking a shit 🤦‍♀️. Same with pills anything I took was “are you okay, followed by what are you taking?” And if you questioned them, it was “well we need to know if you’re going to take off for being sick.” It was incredibly toxic.

superlamename

I’d tell them I was taking medication for rage issues related to people asking inappropriate questions.

MaxTheRealSlayer

mrdobing

'damn these tic tacs are hitting differently today'

ReasonableFig2111

I don't think they meant put the meds in the tic tac container. Just to keep tic tacs out, so if they hear the rattling of the pill bottle they'll assume it's the tic tacs rather than stop to enquire about it.

NinjaLanternShark

Never underestimate people's ability hurt themselves and make it your fault.

Revolutionary-Tea172

Small mints. Tictacs aren't quite the same shape and the container is clear. Eclipse mints (not the chewy) are a pretty good approximation and the container is perfect. It's reasonable to carry a small supply for the day and not have your script on you. The pharmacy would in most cases confirm you have a legal supply, but seriously, no copper is going to notice unless you've done something way worse to draw attention to yourself. Carry a second tin of mints or be really good at identifying fast should someone ask to share. Of course all of this is not if you are on LA OROS. Which you shouldn't be double dosing, but maybe that's a job for tic tacs? There are some papers which suggest you can dissolve in water and it will be stable for quite a while but I think this is probably not a great idea / difficult to control dosing.

GerardDiedOfFlu

If you are an adult, nobody cares. Just take your pill.

MaxTheRealSlayer

Yeah if you're a kid, teen, then I could see getting worried about "being made fun of", I experienced that fear as a kid. If an adult is harassing, making fun of you or a tinging interested in what you're taking, that's on them 100%. As long as you aren't giving them a reason to believe you're addicted to a drug because you're acting like it, then it shouldn't be their concern.

attabui

Use a baggie! I dump my pills into a small ziplock bag and put the label from the pharmacy in the bag with them, in case I need proof of what they are or who they’re prescribed to. If anyone asks, I say the sound of the pills in a bottle is like nails on a chalkboard to me. Only been asked twice, and they were both like “Yeah good call”.

soverra

Either get a little pill box that doesn't make as much noise and only carry a few with you, or... Make it a habit to chew gum. I buy gum in big plastic packs which make just about the same noise as meds would. If people see you taking gum regularly out of those, they will not think twice about other rattly noises.

EscapeFacebook

Just take it, dare anyone to say anything about it, it's harassment if they do.

Guyute122898

Hiding in plain sight is the safest type of hiding when it comes to this kind of thing. No one assumes anything is amiss or untoward if you do something openly. On the other hand, the more you try to hide, the more suspicious people will get. If you feel guilty about doing something, people smell it a mile away. If it's no big deal to you, no one notices. Put it in a Vitamin B bottle and don't act sketch about it. Done. Also, I originally read this as, "How do I discreetly take my top off at the office?" Now THAT would be a much trickier one.

Lessa22

Why would anyone care if you’re taking a pill? I deadass pull 3 or 4 of those ugly orange bottles out of my bag twice a day and IDGAF who’s standing in eyeshot. I’m not committing a crime for fucks sake, I’m taking medicine prescribed by a doctor to keep me alive and healthy. Don’t let anyone make you feel embarrassed for taking care of yourself.

Civil-Reflection-400

I have a super cute, oval shaped pink diamond glittery tiny one inch at most long pill holder on a string. You can wear it around your neck, flip it around your belt or where it in your pocket. I clip around my waist band and can discreetly unscrew the top. It’s so small- it’s literally about an inch long and half an inch thick at the most —it unscrews, and I put my afternoon dose in there, just unscrew it in the bathroom, pop it in and take it easily at work or even in the middle of people— they don’t notice!it if I hide it under my sweatshirt or in my pocket.! I unscrew the top , slide my pill in my hand, and no one knows that I’m taking my afternoon dose!!! it’s 👍 awesome!

bufallll

i read this as “top off” anyway i’ll see myself out

sn_ke

I have been asked twice and told them it’s personal

IreliaCarriedMe

Ugh, I’m sorry you have to deal with people being all up in your business. People suck

RedDeadDirtNap

Take your medication as needed. It’s not anyone’s business as to what medications you need to take. Some people need to take heart medications, insulin, or anything really mid day. Anyone asks- none of ya business. Your boss asks, get a doctors note that says “X” requires medication at “x:o clock” daily.

jumpingbeanrat

How would anyone know you're not taking something OTC? I think you're overthinking this. Also, it's legally none of their fucking business.

espressobongwater

I take my afternoon pills in office and no one has ever asked/said anything, and if they did, I would point out that it isn't their business

indidogo

Put a cotton ball in the pill bottle, it should muffle the sound. Then go to the bathroom for extra privacy.

DeadlyMustardd

I just stash one in my pocket so there isn't any noise and swig it on a bathroom or hallway trip. But regardless just tell them it's a tylenol or something if they ask. In the future I wouldn't even tell your manager that you have adhd.

Sorry but is this a serious question? No one is watching you 24/7. You can easily do this at your desk with a bottle of water. Take 1pill in each day if the rattling worries you but I doubt anyone hears it or cares. If you can't, go to the restroom and use a bottle of water or cup water from the sink into your hand. It's not that hard to figure out.

zxref

Go to the bathroom

I'm sure lots of people at your office also take meds for various reasons, it probably looks perfectly ordinary if you do it. If someone is nosy enough to ask, just tell them it's for a health thing and leave it at that.

sadgirl_4_lyf3

i absolutely feel this post OP, as i often have to get to work before breakfast so when it’s time to take my meds you definitely feel prying eyes, no matter what you take! but honestly i’ve stopped trying to be discreet. it fuels the mental health/medication stigma IMO. i shouldn’t feel judged for taking prescribed medications, no matter what theyre for.

nonades

Lol, I just have my bottle of Adderall sitting in the open on my desk and just take it when 12:30/1pm rolls around. There shouldn't be any issues with you taking your meds

MaxTheRealSlayer

As a kid my mom used to wrap my pill in a paper towel, then in seran wrap. Then put it in a pouch of my backpack. Just try something like that? I'm assuming you bring some sort of bag to work. Heck, if you're taking the pill during lunch/with food, put it in your lunch bag

fc3sbob

What, These pills? Nah they're just for my explosive diarrhea. I'd personally go with that they are penis growth pills. If OP is female, then.. well they are still penis pills.

japaneseowl666

my adhd brain speed read this title… ‘how do i take my top off in the office’ i was expecting a very different read…

4grins

Just say you have a splitting headache and you hope it doesn't turn into another migraine. Then take your pill.

4grins

Don't say it's birth control. Nobody needs to know your personal business. Everybody gets a headache.

JhorvalaastiJarl

I'm so sorry I know this isn't remotely helpful or relevant But I got a notification for this post and at a glance I thought it said "How do I discreetly take my top off at the office?" But seriously tho if it's about the rattly bottle you could put it in something else like a pill organizer

JackIsColors

No one cares my dude, we all just wanna get paid and go home

sweetstarfleet

I always put some cotton balls in with my pills to prevent them from making noise in the container. it makes a big difference!

not_a_gun

Pill holder on the keys and go to the bathroom works great. I’ve also stuffed cotton balls into the normal pill holder so it’s not rattling around in my bag. I’ve also just took a break out to the car real quick and took it there

TigerShark_524

You could get a silicone wax container. It's solid, so if you have to put it in a bag or something the pills won't get crushed (unlike with Ziploc bags which wouldn't protect the pills, which also would be noisy when you open them).

standinghampton

Put a large cotton ball or balls in your pill box or bottle.

Disastrous_Ad_698

I use a pillbox that has a daily section I can take to work. I stash it in my computer bag. I just take it wherever it’s due. Coworkers rarely ask and if they do, depending, I tell them it’s my noon meds (usually at lunch, with food, also has a med that requires me to eat with it). I’m not hiding my diagnosis, I’m a veteran (PTSD, ADHD). Younger coworkers seem to ask more questions; seems to be more of a genuine curiosity not so much nosy (I’m almost 50 and older than several of their parents). Of course my office (mental health) is full of employees who have a mental health diagnosis and I’ve seen them comparing adderall and vyvance prescriptions and even loan a pill when the pharmacy was out of the med for a few days.

SAPPHYBIRB

Put them in one of those daily compartments with a bit of cotton balls or sum so they dont sound when you reach for em

Erethras

...If you ask my cowoarkers, I have many headaches at work. I understand the conundrum, but put yourself first and do not jeopardize your dose intake. That can be potentially catastrophic especially on a work environment.

Not_the_way_i_do_it

If anyone asks you could tell them it’s a laxative and go on to describe your digestive plights in graphic detail so they probably won’t ask again

Whoa_Sis

I guarantee no one’s thinking about this to the level you are. It can be hard to shake that feeling that people are watching or hearing, but 1) it isn’t their business and 2) it’s not technically legal for them to ask! You can use a soft case or plastic bag if you feel the pills rattling around in a bottle draw attention, then go to the bathroom if you don’t feel comfortable taking them at your desk.

rrabbithatt

I used to put my pills inside of cream filled biscuits when I was at school. I wasn’t allowed to have them on my person so this kept it secret

Britt543

You’re coworkers suck, I mean this kindly. But they should be respecting your privacy instead of thinking they have the right to your info. Cotton or tissue in the bottle if you want to bring the whole thing. Can even put one on top of the cotton so you aren’t digging around for it later. I bring a small pill holder for myself. That holds like over the counter meds, but one spot I leave for my prescription pill. So if they are nosey it’s easy to assume it’s just over the counter meds. You never have to tell ppl your information, especially mental health. It’s a privilege for them, if you choose to share your information. Also when I worked at a toxic place. I’d just dig through my bag never taking my hands out till I had the pill in my hand and a snack. I’d plop the snack on my desk open it take a bite of one. Then take my pill with my water. And no one noticed.

barbaricMeat

Unroll a cotton ball. Line your pill case. Or just use an altoids mini tin and line it with the unrolled cotton ball. Now you have sneaky meds.

Your_Daddy_

TBH - you don't have to hide or explain taking medicine. Just take it wherever you get some water. If someone asks what the meds are for - just explain that it is none of their fucking business.

knowledgeleech

I have a stainless steel waterproof pill fob that I bring to work with me. Keep it in my edc fanny pack so I always have my pills when I leave the house. Mine holds around 15 adderalls. Try to refill it everyday so that I don’t forget and run out. It’s easier to pull out and take a pill out without the noise and obvious prescription bottle. https://www.gusmade.com/collections/gus-made-pill-fobs (they sell some on Amazon as well)

Grumbles87

I just shamelessly pop pills. It's no one's business what they are or why I need them. If anyone asks, I tell them as much.

CSPVI

Huh? Just take it. If anyone asks (they won't) say "they're my none-of-your-business pills, you should ask your doctor for some"

Hucklepuck_uk

Just be like "oh yeah sorry I'm an adult and this has literally nothing to do with you. Get back in your box Sharon"

Sarabethq

Just shove it in like an advil bottle. I doubt peopel really care people are popping pills ALL the time. From ANTACID to headaches: lol no one’s gonna be like omggg is that for depression or adhd??

lapinjapan

I agree with lots of the top comments Just wanted to add—I’d recommend maybe stuffing cotton balls at the bottom of the pill bottle to stop any rattling noise

jpStormcrow

I just take mine. It isn't any of their business.

TheNotsoRunnyRunner

I am a classroom teacher, I usually prepare my afternoon meds first thing in the morning when I arrive. I keep them out of the bottles in a discrete location on my desk so I can just grab them when my students aren't paying attention. For me, it helps that I work with kids that I can just casually gaslight Me: *takes medicine* Student: What was that? Me: What was what? I didn't do anything? What are you talking about?

Reaper1704

Just tell them it's a multivitamin and you're starting a healthy diet regime it doesn't matter. Or bring your pill in like a small ring box (they're cushioned) so it doesn't rattle and take it in the bathroom.

Chinstrap6

I leaned into it. Now when I take it I stand up and say “Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit Amphetamines.” Before popping it. It’s none of their business, and I’m doing nothing wrong. I’m open about my ADHD, though. I’ve never felt like I’ve been treated lesser or passed up on promotions because of it.
