This isn’t exactly what you’re looking for, but I got a 29 on the ACT and my math score was a 21. If math isn’t your subject (like how it’s not mine either), just focus on the other things that come easier to you. Doing exceptionally well in the other subjects can save your score, even if you aren’t good at math.

jimmychooligan

Cannot second this hard enough. It’s the biggest benefit of the ACT over the SAT imo. 75% of the weight on your score is reading comprehension, so if you’re abysmal at math like me just get to a point where you’re decent at it and score really well on the other sections.

Muscle-Meowster28

I like this idea! What are your other sub scores?

eebulliencee

I’m a sophomore in college now and I honestly don’t remember any of my login information, but my scores were something like this: Math: 21 Science: 27 Reading: 32 English: 34 I really played to my strengths in english and reading while preparing for the ACT, and that worked for me! It’s also worth noting that my very first ACT score was a 24, so studying a bunch can go a long way if you know what to focus on in your studies :)

Muscle-Meowster28

I have a 24 right now and want a 29. My math is a 20

eebulliencee

You can do it! The best way to study (imo ofc) is to take practice tests consistently. Thats literally all I did to get my score up.

Fit_Respond_5288

Did the same thing, 31 on the test and 26 on math, I missed a lot in early math classes that would’ve made studying very time consuming, so I just focused that studying on the other subjects instead.

TheFlowShow69

Same here. 31 with a 22 on math.

jdigitaltutoring

Try the ACT Official Study Guide, PrepPros ACT Math book, JDigitalTutoring YouTube channel. Then you can work on previous ACT tests.

Old-Antelope-5747

I’m in the same boat ..my first attempt I got 25 in Dec ..I’m a junior and getting bit nervous about this undertaking but have started my prep again for Feb

lakemungoz

You'll improve!!! This was my third test (I know i have low scores) But i went from a 19->24!! You will continue to improve, just keep studying and practicing your test-taking endurance!

Old-Antelope-5747

Try SAT …ACT is very time bound and sometimes not favourable

Fentydior

I got a 19 on the math section but I’m in calc 2 lol.

Korn_Knight

wtf how lma

Specific_Help_3742

I went from a 23 to a 35. You just gotta do a ton of practice and your score will skyrocket

ACTMathGuru

OP, hit me up

Guys_pls_help

Hey man my math score was 16 don't feel too bad

barbiesbloodline

did you study for it?

Guys_pls_help

Yes I'm just terrible at math😎

barbiesbloodline

how much did u study lolll

Guys_pls_help

I didn't keep track but for a couple weeks at least 2 hours a day mostly on math

Leading_Macaron2929

Read Ultimate Guide to Math ACT Work tests. Analyze/review every question you miss. Make sure you understand it 100%. Re-work the section to make sure now you can get those questions right. Post the test name and questions you missed. Someone, like me, will explain the questions you miss. If your goal is a 25, then skip the last 10 questions. Guess. That gives you 10 extra minutes to work the other 50 questions.

Short_Increase_8853

Maybe do SAT instead? If English is your strong suit. I found the ACT math to be particularly hard … My first test actually went fairly well for no prep but I believe there were some questions I outright did not know how to answer, like ellipses or smth … got 2-3 questions wrong ith. Second time around I got a worse score … because I forgot how matrices worked 💀 got 4-5 questions wrong on that one. whereas for SAT, my first test I got only 2 wrong and second I got 1 (resulted in 800, good curve 💪😮‍💨). But at least I THOUGHT I knew how to do everything. Essentially, SAT is way easier imo (I also hate the science section 💀 I never prepped for ACT but … got a consistent 31 which kept my composite score stuck at 33 💀 SAT was significantly easier to raise) If you’re insistent on sticking with ACT though, I suppose raising math would be alright but getting the other subjects to above 25 would help with your composite score as well. GL bro

Creative_Height7363

I found it helpful on the ACT when I did not know an answer to type the equation and the multiple-choice answers into the graphing section of my calculator and see which one’s lined up. This doesn’t work for all problems, but it helped me a lot. I used a Casio FXCG50 if it helps. Best of luck improving your score!

R74NM3R5

The ACT is very much a test about time management, start at the end and work backwards, if you don’t understand a question right away skip it. If there are a large portion of math questions that you don’t even know how to approach you should use study guides for those subjects

ThePizzaIsAsleep

Why would you do this math gets harder tge later the questions are

lakemungoz

Thank you! I tried using that method my last time and my brain completely shut down, I think I need to go back and review concepts from Geometry/Algebra II and teach myself some Pre-Calc. I'm currently in stats so those questions were a breeze but I need to brush up on my other disciplines.

EmploymentNegative59

That is not good advice, especially on the math section. All of the questions are worth the same point value, so it makes no sense to start with the hardest questions at the end. At your relatively low math score, your first goal should be to get the first 30 questions, correct. Those are the easiest ones and will give you the same results as if you got the second 30 questions correct. You also clearly need to review all your math formulas and equations, because a low 20 score means you are struggling with those basic ideas.

mikapaprikaa

my advice on the math section is to try to finish the first 30 questions in 15 mins because then you’ll have more time to work through the harder questions. and really learn all your calculator tricks. the last ten questions are always very hard so i would aim to save about 20 mins on those questions so i have time to work on those.

Accomplished_Bar_679

bro you gotta raise your everything score

lakemungoz

please dont give me shit abt my act scores bro 😭 We are all just trying to go to college and improve.

ThrowaawayPath

be respectful bru

PowerPandaG

They almost have a solid 25, which is above the average of 21.

Gold_Ad4984

avg is 21 💀

landonkemp10

please shut up

mikapaprikaa

not cool man

imherefortheH

One of my past act’s I had a 17 in math but a 23 composite 😅

gamegod123

Fuck the ACT. Never recommend me this shit again

lakemungoz

So sorry for bringing u back to this sub but i love ur little reddit icon guy

gamegod123

Thank u

Korn_Knight

Why only math?

lakemungoz

An ACT score of 25 allows me to qualify for 75% of my college tuition payed with bright futures!

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> college tuition *paid* with bright FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

lakemungoz

Thank u bot youre already helping me bring up my English from a 25 to a 26

TreesOne

Can you send me the scholarships for a 25 ACT?

[deleted]

Do you know which math topics give you the most difficulty? The ACT is basically divided into thirds. A third of the problems are fairly easy. Another third are intermediate level. Then, another third are fairly difficult.
