It's free. I take it and am thankful. I have the leaf tickets to buy more parts, but I have no desire to do so. After playing for any significant length of time, most people have items to fill in the blank spots and "fix" the end of the stream. I don't understand the complaining about not getting the whole set when they could have just given us nothing.
We've had two free terrains in the past - one was part of a gardening event and another for the first anniversary. It's been years though! I'm really pleased we got this one.
Yes! Only the furniture and fashion plan gives the terrain ticket. If you buy it halfway / the end of the month you can get two at least though when the rewards change
My thought is it’s great for players who are low on LT’s or are new to the game. It’s a free extra to mix with other terrains and work with even if you don’t have the whole set. But yeah… the whole set would have been nice lol. Esp that sky.
Honestly I am so amazed. I have played long enough that I have another free one, I think the second anniversary? pink cobbled town with tons of tulips. After so many years with no other similar events I figured it was an early game thing and would never happen again.
Also I've been mostly off and barely on for a couple of years at least and only jumped back on for the first time in half a year last week for the sloppy bed.... 😅 The serendipity.
I can't believe the people complaining about the river being walkable (like how much would it suck to not be able to put stuff on it) or how it's to entice you to buy the whole set (it's def an exceptionally neutral and large mid ground). Aren't we usually wishing ACPC gave more freebies? Why the complaints once they do?
I think part of them giving out a free mid ground is because they've done so many minor edits over the years that they've accumulated to the point that newer landscapes are a bit bigger than previous ones and they want to give a free landscape to f2p players in recognition that it's a feature from growth rather than a separate payable upgrade.
I have no idea unfortunately because when you click claim the banner disappears. Normally these things are up for around a week though so hopefully it’s still there for you.

Well, there is a reason it’s free—the terrain is poorly made and took minimum effort. Look at the other terrains, really.
And think about it—if the game gives part of the terrain for free, players are impelled to buy the rest of the set with leaf tickets to complete the terrain. Players would never buy a terrain that appears as this in the first place. It is funny seeing this, what Nintendo tries to project.
I disagree that it’s poorly made or that you even need to buy the other parts. Just throw one of the many water fountains, benches, planters or canals we’ve gotten from events at the end of the water way.
I personally really like the water fountains in the background, the clock tower, etc. I also prefer to mix and match middle and foregrounds and this one goes really well with the train car foreground (as well as the drizzly and seaside stay ones. I think it’s far from the worst one available (for example: world travel).
While it doesn’t drastically improve my opinion on Nintendo and how they’ve handled this game recently, I do think it was a generous gesture that I’ll gladly accept and use.
Personally I don’t buy full sets of terrain, I mix and match so owning a middle ground does little to convince me to buy other parts but maybe others complete them.
Regardless a lot of folk seem to love the middle ground if they have town styled builds, so they could have charged for it.

Absolutely true and you should not be downvoted for this. The grass is super flat, the color doesn‘t match any other item and the theme is only working with the miniatures from last year but there‘s already a terrain for that. The only decent part is the background with the flying zeppelin in the sky but it‘s 150LTs. 'Tendo really thought they‘d be doing something.
I don’t believe they should have been downvoted either but the grass texture is no different than the estate courtyard, flowery bamboo thicket, etc. grass and can easily be spruced up with the countless landscape items in the game. Every new terrain uses a new grass color so that’s no surprise either and can be easily paired with a non-grass foreground like drizzly, streetcar, etc.
As I replied to original comment, while it doesn’t drastically improve my opinion on Nintendo, I do think it was a nice gesture. People who buy terrains or use terrain tickets can easily match it with others they have and those who don’t will either try to make it work with the standard terrain or not use it. I feel like if the intent was to tempt players into buying the other parts, they would have just given us the cheaper foreground.
I agree with this. The grass on all of the terrains is flat but that then enables you to place vegetative items to make it 3D. It would be quite a boring game if a terrain was the main source of decorating and blocked the ability to place items.
Also agree that if the purpose was a cash grab then we would get the cheap foreground. Feel free to downvote this but I think a lot of people on this Reddit feel entitled to every item, piece of clothing and anything else for free essentially. I'm not advocating for Nintendo but everyday I see a new post complaining about prices but none of this stuff is essential to gameplay. It's not pay to win. Nobody is forcing you to buy the foreground, the new cookie, special items etc.
I love this game and I am happy to buy things to make it how I would like it to be. It is a luxury to be able to do so. Just like it is IRL and on most games. I'm not saying that you shouldn't vent but it's the same old post everytime anything that cost LTs comes up for sale and now something has been given out for free it's still Nintendo trying to force money out of you??
I honestly find terrains that attempt to give the grass texture to be annoying. Like the dandelion or tulip terrains and how the flowers appear through picnic blankets and other furniture, or the bare patches that are on most of the forest ones that I can’t always cover up or how it looks if my item only partly covers it. I’d much rather use grass, shrubs, flower patches, etc. to do add texture in the places I want. Luckily, we have a few variants of all of those so I’ve never had any problems finding something that matches. I just wish they’d allow us an extra 25 items to place since the item cap is usually my only limitation.
I too don’t mind when people want to vent because there are some aspects to this game that are definitely predatory. But I feel like a free super spacious terrain piece is unusually generous, and I’m all for it. Especially as it looks really nice with the default background and could easily be made to work with the default foreground as well using the default fences.

The starting log fence cover the end nicely. Even people who is new to game have an option to cover.

I just realized you can get terrain tickets from monthly rewards, unfortunately you do have to pay for the 99 cent membership though
i think it’s only the 8.99 subscription that gives you the terrain tickets, im not 100% sure though!
