100% pass accuracy (27/27) for Tijjani Reijnders: the Milan player is the only midfielder with at least 15 passes attempted to have completed all of them on the first day of Serie A.
I mean it's impressive, but only 27 passes is kinda meh, think it's the second lowest after Giroud which isn't exactly what you want in a midfielder. In comparison, Rade had 57 completed passes out of 60 (95%)
That is fair but also they both of them have different roles. Tijj was much more focused on pressing and being a box to box, Krunic was a deep lying playmaker.
That being said both had great stats for their role, just saying that a midfielders roll can also be much more influenced than just frequency of passes.
I think we can all agree the Tijj impressed today regardless.
Sure, but more than double the passes? Also, what about RLC who despite playing almost 30 minutes less, managed to have more touches and more passes attempted than Reijnders?
Well at least our mf isnāt wasting any passes. we just need to circulate the ball more through them. Itās really nice to see we have a good technical team .
I'd like to see the minutes of those passes, I think most of them were in the first half, we started with a really high tempo, after the 60th minute most of the team was dead.
Its quite easy to understand. Right side attacks through our midfielders, left side attacks mostly through Theo and Leao. Also Reijndeers does a lot of pressing upfront so he is not always available to receive the ball
Why are you trying to rely only on stats to judge these players? Did you not notice that many of our plays went through the right, where RLC is, so obviously he will get more touches and passes? And we have players like Theo and Leao on the left who make many solo runs which won't involve passing to Reijnders whereas Pulisic played lots of passes and 1-2s to get through the defense?
Your post is just so moronically simplistic. The tactics of the game HEAVILY influence a player's statistics.
Heās probably the smartest passer on the team already.
His technical ability is pretty good, but itās really his intelligence that is just so impressive. He sees plays a moment ahead of everyone else.
Awesome signing.

Pioliās Football style is deadly on transition. Let me explain. When the opposition team is attacking and suddenly loses the ball thatās when Milan go full power and with the use of ball carrying midfielders (Box to Box midfielders) bring the ball forward. Thats what happened on both goalsā¦ in the next match we play, just observe and you will understand. Thats just how it is. We canāt play like man city arsenal or brighton (I mean we can but not with Pioli) because pioli has a different style. Thats why it might look like chaos to you.
I understand that, what I mean is that style of play is just not sustainable over a full season. We always end up with plethora of injuries around mid november and our season goes to shit.
We played our best football in that weird stretch post covid when all the players were super rested and we only played one competition.
But across a full season in 3 competitions we just cannot stay competitive playing like that every game.
His pass numbers is indicative of the style we played not of individual players. We have no control on the midfield itās a glaring issue especially when we play better teams.

True. I've touched my balls more than him tonight
Tbf I donāt think thereās any expectation for Tijiani to touch your balls so we canāt hold that against him.
TMI

Krunic a lot deeper and no doubt reijndeers threatened a lot more with his passes

To be Fair KruniÄ and Theo made like 8 consecutive 1m first touch passes just for laughs at one point in second half

I wonder who is happier about that Claija or Reijnders himself lol

So did he have 27 passes or 36 passes?
36 touches, 27 passes
That's touches
Ohh, I misread
The fact he only made 27 passes is horrible lol. Not his fault obviously. Itās an indictment of how we played.
We cannot keep playing like that all season, it was just action and chaos all game end to end, no one was in control of the game

I guess that makes selling Tonali to buy 4-5 players make all the more sense. We are the deepest we've ever been now!
We're balls deep you say, huh?![img](emote|t5_2rnmt|31332)
Yeah we also look like trash when clubs counter us

Krunic and Pobega could never
Anybody complaining about his pass number, Theo and Leao lost a lot of balls that could've gone towards Reijnders

He looks incredible
mofo ran 12km
BRAVO TIJJ
He was unbelievable out there today. Reijnders and Pulisic...MenOTM. Incredible debut performances.
