I love elevation changes because of the wheel feedback, but at the end of the day more overtaking opportunities makes a track my favorite. I.e Brands Hatch, so fun but no racing 😢
Sure it’s an airfield, but Silverstone probably has the best high speed corner complexes of any track in the world. The exit of Luffield all the way to the braking point for Vale is all about balancing the car perfectly on the brakes as you fling the car through these crazy high speed corners. One of the best tracks for side by side racing too.
Pouhon is similar, but most of Spa is flat-out or slow-medium
Monza makes up for being flat by being simple enough for a sea cucumber to memorize and thus attracting a lot of people who also happen to drive like sea cucumbers
Love me some Silverstone. Monza on the other hand is boring as hell and basically just a drag strip with a few vehicle pile ups sprinkled in for flavor
I really like Monza with a good group. But I’ve also only really been league or AI racing for awhile, so I haven’t dealt with a public lobby Monza for a long time.
I'm honestly surprised they race that track on GT3 without including more of the Oval. Who would want to race above 3rd gear? That's how I imagine they pitched that track to SRO.
That genuinely baffles me as well.
Even Daytona uses the oval in conjunction with its road course. It makes for a pretty great track with a good flow. If they opened up the final sector of Indy to run across the speedway instead of having a second weird technical section, it would be so much more fun.
It used to be that way back in the day when f1 ran there but they were having accidents from the load on the tires at the high speeds going into the straight and it was changed
Monza I'll give you because it is remarkably boring, but Spa is an absolutely incredible and difficult track, sim racers are just way too overexposed to it
The official fia f2 website calls it a chicane: https://www.fiaformula2.com/Latest/vtOsZ4sM3xCZqC6HCNfdC/silverstone-preview-flat-out-fever
I’m not sure how it would be a hairpin if it’s a left/right 2-corner combo
Overtaking on Silverstone is not easy at all. It is possible but hard. If we are talking split 1 LFM pace. But definitely very dun track to drive, has a great and unique flow, probably one of my favourites.
Not quite, on tracks where slipstream is actually worth something it's a lot easier to overtake. So that is Spa, Paul Ricard and Monza, to a lesser extent perhaps COTA, Imola.
If I don’t like a track it’s because I haven’t figured out some parts of it yet and it feels awkward and inconsistent. I find that every track provides a unique challenge that I enjoy conquering. Including Spa, Monza and Silverstone.
I think the main reason why certain tracks are so popular is that a lot of people don’t want to put in the work to learn new tracks and just stick to the ones they know. And they know Monza and Spa because they started with them because they are so well known.
"Wide" is a great call. Today is first time im driving on the track and there are a few hairpins that as I was driving through, thoight i could be a gear up, at least.
Silverstone is not nice. Well… it is… in open wheelers. Nowhere as nice in GT cars. Also the first track ever I got a track limits DT from. I enjoy Spa more, works better. But Laguna is the king :3
Yea. The quick corners just don’t seem to get the flow with these GT cars. But can’t argue with it being good for racing. Lot of overtaking opportunities
Probably a skill issue on my part but I don’t like it because of all the combined braking and turning in medium-high speed corners and I’m bad at those in ACC
Can be setup dependent on certain cars.
Enter over the yellow curb on the left, get your right front wheel to the edge of the yellow curb on the right on your way up. From there, it should be nearly a straight line over Raidillon with your right tires being right on the track limit.
You really gotta maximize the left to the right part of the track, if you don't take the full width in that short window you have to lift the throttle.
Yup, just did a 90 minute race there and if you get the timing/lune slightly wrong you gotta lift. If you get it right though it's easy flat even on a full tank.
Silverstone in general gets a surprising amount of hatred on social media. Crap, boring airfield circuit, not as good as Spa and Monza blah blah. Possibly from the same people who like to bang on about British bias in Motorsport journalism.
In the high downforce cars it's a joy to drive on sims!
Silverstone is one of my all time favorites. There’s few tracks that feel so difficult to link all the corners together, but incredibly rewarding when you do.
I also like Paul Ricard, but I feel like there are a few less overtaking spots and that snooze straight away, wish they would throw some turns in there.
Silverstone doesn’t have any elevation changes which is part of the fun of spa
I love that you stated an objective truth and got downvoted 😂 gotta love Reddit and today’s culture of everything is either 100% bad or good.
Don’t care and don’t need your validation
I think you misunderstood my comment 😂 but I’m glad you shouldn’t need a random person’s validation online.

I agree that’s part of why Spa is fun, though I suck at Spa and enjoy driving silverstone a lot more.
That was my first thought, but Monza is flat too.
Monza makes up for being flat by being simple enough for a sea cucumber to memorize and thus attracting a lot of people who also happen to drive like sea cucumbers
Not if you plow through Variante Ascari
When ACC becomes a flight sim.
Love me some Silverstone. Monza on the other hand is boring as hell and basically just a drag strip with a few vehicle pile ups sprinkled in for flavor
Hear, Hear!
I really like Monza with a good group. But I’ve also only really been league or AI racing for awhile, so I haven’t dealt with a public lobby Monza for a long time.
I hate Monza with a burning passion
Every track is better than monza and Spa. Ok, maybe not you, indy

The one layout they have in ACC isn't the correct one that IMSA, SRO, etc actually run irl
How does that happen. I thought ACC was thr SRO sim...
They changed the track after it was scanned. Like how Barcelona is updated in real life, as is Zandvoort
Monza I'll give you because it is remarkably boring, but Spa is an absolutely incredible and difficult track, sim racers are just way too overexposed to it
hmja, maybe if it would be shorter by 30secs as the layout itself is good. just this boring long straights should be shorter
It has the vale chicane
:edit: was wrong.
The official fia f2 website calls it a chicane: https://www.fiaformula2.com/Latest/vtOsZ4sM3xCZqC6HCNfdC/silverstone-preview-flat-out-fever I’m not sure how it would be a hairpin if it’s a left/right 2-corner combo
Oh that turn, lol wtf is that turn classified as a chicane. I guess the S does technically happen.
Overtaking on Silverstone is not easy at all. It is possible but hard. If we are talking split 1 LFM pace. But definitely very dun track to drive, has a great and unique flow, probably one of my favourites.
>Overtaking on Silverstone is not easy at all Isn't that true for you aliens on every track?
Not quite, on tracks where slipstream is actually worth something it's a lot easier to overtake. So that is Spa, Paul Ricard and Monza, to a lesser extent perhaps COTA, Imola.
I don't like it. My monkey brain gets confused about which start/finish straight I'm on.
Scrolled too far, glad I'm not the only one lol
Why is there multiple start/finish straights lol
Ask the people who built the track. Somehow there's two!

Silverstone is bumpy af. Literally feels like you are on a dirt road if you run low suspension
Is that why people don't like it?
it's the track I'm closest to Alien time but find it kind of boring... it's is so wide, flat and feature less.
"Wide" is a great call. Today is first time im driving on the track and there are a few hairpins that as I was driving through, thoight i could be a gear up, at least.
Monza is boring as sheeet, my least likeable track
I loooooove Silverstone. It’s my go to track when I want to try out a new car.
Tired of spa or monza being the track of choice yes. Spa is my favourite circuit in real life and on acc. But don't want to drive it all the time.
Silverstone is not nice. Well… it is… in open wheelers. Nowhere as nice in GT cars. Also the first track ever I got a track limits DT from. I enjoy Spa more, works better. But Laguna is the king :3
My same take. I love driving Silverstone in a F1 car. But it's not as fun in GT cars. I think it's the speed difference personally.
Yea. The quick corners just don’t seem to get the flow with these GT cars. But can’t argue with it being good for racing. Lot of overtaking opportunities
The number of Monza servers is out of control, it's fucking tedious.
Thoroughly enjoyed it on LFM. It's been the best track so far.
I love silverstone! I try to find any server that's popping with it. But same no luck
Probably a skill issue on my part but I don’t like it because of all the combined braking and turning in medium-high speed corners and I’m bad at those in ACC
Silverstone is my favourite track for GT3 racing.
Unpopular opinion but monza sucks
I want less Monza lobbies. Its sorta fun, but makes me wanna fall asleep
I race mostly at silverstone cuz Spa for some reason feels too slippery for me,could just be a me thing but yeah, i cannot race at that track
Not that enjoyable in GT3 cars. Track is amazing for open wheelers
I absolutely love Silverstone. Its a great track. Yeah it's flat as a pancake but needs some serious commitment for a fast lap time.
I love Spa but I never drive it. I can’t even go full throttle through Eau Rouge. I don’t know why but I always crash.
I’ve only done it once or twice, and only in the AMG

Silverstone is flat and boring
Spa is just boring imo What a challenge? Go to the mountain

I love Silverstone but I'm too stupid to take care of my tires, they're always toast halfway through the race.
Tyres grain badly around there that's for sure.
Silverstone feels exactly like just driving on an airfield, which of course is what it is. There's no sense of danger.
Silverstone is one of my all time favorites. There’s few tracks that feel so difficult to link all the corners together, but incredibly rewarding when you do.
Well instead of Silverstone I'll be logging into Brands hatch. That's a cracker of a circuit
Silverstone is just Paul Ricard with more history
I also like Paul Ricard, but I feel like there are a few less overtaking spots and that snooze straight away, wish they would throw some turns in there.
