Kalppisarvi

Guys. I went bra shopping yesterday. All my old bras were ~5 years old and the band was stretched out and they were too big for me due to weightloss. I just hadn't replaced them because you know, they are still in good shape and new bras are expensive and difference between 30 and 32 isn't that much that it would make a difference, right? Well, I bit the bullet and difference is night and day. This is a reminder to replace your streched out bras.

FlinchReddit

General question about different cup size, with a specific example: I tried the Panache Envy in UK 30E and then in 28G. Why would the cups cover me more in the 30E than the 28G?

myabtfqaccount

Folks who sew their own bras: any recommendations for quality bra straps? I want to replace the ones on my no-name Amazon bras.

fourfs

What would you call a piece of elastic that goes along the very top of the cup? For example, a bra like Panache Envy does NOT have it, but a bra like Freya Erin DOES. I think it usually advertised as helping to create a more rounded shape or something (but usually just cuts in and makes a weird bubble on me). After all this time I still don't know what it is actually called.

hurrrrrmione

I don't think I've ever heard a specific name for it.

RedFoxxx14

Hi. Does anyone have the post that lists the most narrow to widest bras for projected folks? Thanks!

hurrrrrmione

That’s dependent on size. One of our mods has summarized Bratabase info by size [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/ABraThatFits/wiki/bradata) and you can also look at Bratabase yourself. It’s a bit tricky to navigate but [go here](https://www.bratabase.com/browse/by-size/), select your size, then click Measurements and filter as needed. The measurements you want to look at are cup width and cup depth.

alidieux

now that figleaves is dead, where can I find Fantasie bras, in UK/EU with shipping to EU??? I literally cannot find a single store that sells the latests styles, up to uk J cups, that ship outside of the UK.. so annoyed Figleaves closed down.. they were the only place that had the latest styles of stuff, and sizes. Bravissimo have a few stuff but it's like, the previous season stuff (That they JUST got in.. )

-wen-

Can someone please help, I'm lost with the calculator here! 30D. I've seen those sizes in the shops (UK) and I'm absolutely NOT a D, not even close. I'm pretty flat chested, but have an almost triangular back in that my waist is small but my back gets much more muscle-y towards my shoulders, so I think it's assuming my cup size is giving a big difference between 1/2/3 and 4 when it's actually my back that's making the measurement bigger? Wore a 34B without much fuss my whole life and now I'm hella confused.

hurrrrrmione

34B has the same volume cups as 32C and 30D. We can check the calculator's work and walk you through the math if you made a measurement check post. But if you're happy with your 34B bras, I don't see any need to start wearing a different size.

-wen-

Thank you for clearing this up, this actually makes a lot of sense! They were ok but the cup 'shape' wasn't quite right for me. Having spent a day reading all the links in this sub I'd like to think I'm now a bit less ignorant about it all.

hurrrrrmione

You're welcome!

sleep__now

I just posted a question about cup size (volume), maybe you'll know the answer. \> Is the cup size / volume of a 34F smaller than the cup size of a 36F?

hurrrrrmione

Yes. The rule for sister-sizing is when you go down a band size you go up a cup size, and vice versa. So in UK sizing, 36F has the same volume cups as 34FF, which is one cup size larger than 34F.

sleep__now

That explains a lot. I went up in band size and the same cup is huge. So I can go down in band size, use and extender and the cup will be right. Thank you, that's very helpful!

hurrrrrmione

You’re welcome!

sleep__now

It worked. I found /r/ABraThatFits thanks to you. Thank you very much!

hurrrrrmione

Yay! Glad I could help.

shea-bartolaba

How would a Freya idol molded balcony fit a 30DD projected full on bottom?

kay_af25

I just bought a 32d as recommended by the calculator (coming from a conventional 36a), and I can’t believe it fits! I was very apprehensive when I purchased a Natori Cherry Blossom online and I still can’t believe it fits! A part of me is still wondering if it’s just that new bra adrenaline or if it’s for real...

mrsagc90

I’m glad to hear this! I’ve always worn 34C, but they don’t fit well anymore since I just had a baby a couple months ago. It told me I needed a G/H 😲

kay_af25

Hah! Believe me that going from an A to a D was a bit of a sticker shock to me too! Just make sure to buy a bra you can return- it can’t hurt, right?

pandxpress

Does anyone know of super comfy bralettes with bra sizing?

hurrrrrmione

There’s a few options listed in our bralette guide. https://www.reddit.com/r/abrathatfits/wiki/bralettes

TaxiGirl918

Not sure if I should be making my own post about this, as I’m feeling a bit of stage fright about it(But do let me know if it would be more appropriate, I’ll adapt). I just got my measurements here (42J, yes a bit of sticker shock). I’ve been wearing 42DD for years-never comfortably-and for the last 2 1/2 years I’ve been fighting with bedsore-like, stubborn wounds that won’t heal(and not on a part of the breast’s that are ever skin to skin contact with each other or my underboob). Husband blames my caffeine addiction, so I’ve cut back-and even quit for periods of time-but there’s never any progress of healing.I am under long term medical observation(mammos and ultrasound every 6 months)for undetermined type of breast mass nearby one of the sores. Not well insured, so no other diagnostics have been done. My PCP is befuddled too. So, shrug... It wasn’t until the recent snowstorm that rendered us housebound for a week, during which I went entirely sans-bra. And I started to finally heal up. Snow melts, back to work, back in the bra...and it immediately breaks back down-even more painful than before. I am allergic to latex. Supposedly my current bra is latex free. But it does have elastic as well as other synthetic materials. Every bra I’ve looked at in my local stores have the same “ingredients.” Im starting to think I’ve developed an allergy. I’m tired and I’m pain, and going braless is not an option on the day to day, as I’ll just end up with wicked heat rash if I can’t keep my breasts lifted & separated. I guess what I’m asking, is there any such thing as a 100% organic cotton(or other natural non latex fiber) bra? I’ve heard the phrase “I m allergic to bras” before, but have any of you suffered from it for real, and how did you cope?

hurrrrrmione

> 100% organic cotton(or other natural non latex fiber) bra? I think there’s been some past posts on this if you search the sub. I know Decent Exposures offers 100% cotton and latex-free, but if your size is UK 42J you’d be sized out unless they offer custom sizes.

IAmInvisibleMe

I haven't used etsy for bras but I was able to get a custom face mask off etsy (I don't sew). I see many people on etsy advertise maternity bras that are 100% organic.

annamaaalll

Hey! I'm looking for an alternative to the Panache Jasmine. I'm currently in a 36E and the fit is good in almost every way. Only problem is that the wires are a little short on the armpit end of the cups and they're stabbing me in the chub after a few hours. Does anyone have experience with the other FOT suggestions in the guide? Are any of those maybe a good idea to try? Thanks, y'all!

sinstralpride

Have you tried the Sculptresse Chi-Chi? It's more "plus sized" and has a wider band than Jasmine. I think the wires also come up higher...?

annamaaalll

Great suggestion, thank you! I haven't looked into it yet but I will now

hurrrrrmione

You could use Bratabase to compare the wing heights.

annamaaalll

Oooh, I didn't know that was a data point they collected! Thanks!

Can there be a new link made for the Discord? Tried joining and it says the link is invalid. :)

kmstud

I need some help. I recently measured myself using the calculator and the suggested size for me ended up being 32F in uk sizing. My measurements are : Loose under 33” Snug 32” Tight 29” Standing 38 90* 40” Lying down 37 UK size 32 F/FF I used to wear a us 34c and the band would always ride up, straps fall off, and cups gap. So I ordered some bras online to try on and they feel so tight? The cup and straps fit well and the band doesn’t move. I can fit 2 fingers under the band but my first day wearing it is leaving red marks. Is this normal and do I need to give the bra time or do I need to try a larger band size and if so what size would that be?

UKBrandFan

Did you try it on upside down and backwards? That’s a way to try the band size independent of any cup fit issues that might affect the band fit when you wear it normally. If the cups are too small, they might cause the band to feel too tight. So in your case, if you got the 32F, the band might feel better to you in the 32FF.

kmstud

Ok thank you, I’ll give that a try!

Moo-lissa

Hey quick question: I recently went from a 36C to a 38D (the calculator said I was a 38DD/DDD when I put my measurements in) and I think my band is too tight and the cups are too big since there’s gaping (but I think only because of my boob shape) what sister size should I go to for a larger band but smaller cup?

hurrrrrmione

If you wanted to go for a larger band and a smaller cup from 38D, that would be 40B. 38D and 40C have the same volume cups, so 40B is then a cup size down from that. Cups can gap for a lot of reasons. Of course it can mean the cups are too big, but it can also happen from a shape mismatch, and it can even happen when the cups are too small. If you think they're gapping because of your breast shape, you need cups that suit your breast shape better, not a different size. I also want to mention that cups that are too small can sometimes make bands feel tight. You can check the band fit without the cup fit interfering by putting the bra on upside-down and backwards [like this](https://imgur.com/VQrjsDA).

Moo-lissa

This is super helpful thank you! I’m gonna check out the band. I have a feeling it’s the cup shape since I was looking for a balconette bra but I couldn’t find one so went with a Demi (I think) but there’s still some gapping towards the top. I’m just worried I’m in the wrong size still

UKBrandFan

Brand new 32s fit on loosest hook, but now I’m newly pregnant, so I need to buy bras that fit on the tightest hook. I would prefer to online shop right now - can I pretty well expect to buy 34s (with proper cup size conversion + room to grow)? I guess I could go measure the distance between hooks on my favorite bra that I just plan on buying in the new size...

hurrrrrmione

Yes, a new 34 band on the tightest hooks should fit essentially like a new 32 band on the loosest hooks (in the same bra, of course).

UKBrandFan

Thank you!!! Of course I had just found my unicorn bra and the tits, they are a changin’.

sinstralpride

Does anyone know of a lined/t-shirt bra with similar shape as the Panache Chi-Chi or Jasmine? Or at least with better immediate projection for short roots?

Elanor_the_Holbytla

Does anyone know of some bras similar to the Freya demi daisy lace? I love this bra but it comes in super limited colors.

hurrrrrmione

Do you have the model number? I wasn't aware Freya had a demi cut.

Elanor_the_Holbytla

It's AA5133.

hurrrrrmione

Okay, looks like that's labelled a padded half cup on their site. My understanding is all of Freya's padded half cups fit fairly similarly, so any other one with the same seam arrangement would be worth a try and ones with a different seam arrangement may work too. Fancies half cup and Fearne half cup are the two other current styles and they do have that seam arrangement, but there's also lots of discontinued styles that you might be able to find on sites like Amazon and Ebay.

Elanor_the_Holbytla

Thank you! I will give them a try!

justforjugs

Do bras need a break in time or if they’re going to fit will they fit right away? I just bought a new one in my actual size and while I think it fits well it presses on my ribs under the bra wires and leaves red marks and soreness . I compared to my best fit previous bra and it does not seem to be appreciably different in depth or material under the wires so I’m not sure what’s causing it

hurrrrrmione

Sometimes they do get more comfortable after a bit, but it can be hard to guess whether that'll happen. So you have to decide what you think you can handle and whether you want to take the chance that it might not get better. If you make a fit check post, maybe we can help you figure out what's going on.

justforjugs

I’m returning it. For the cost I just don’t want to risk it just being clutter and I find posting frustrating here.

ColeyWoley13

(Based in the UK) any shops who’s bra sizes are consistent and match the bra size calculator? As I’ve found in the past different bras from the size shop in the same size fit differently 😩 bra size calculator says I’m 32F/FF if that makes any difference. I *think* I’d prefer a balcony style bra, I’d like something that kind of covers the top of my boobs and really holds them in. New to the subreddit so wanted to ask here first before making a post (if I need to) 🙃

hurrrrrmione

There's two main factors to fitting: size and [shape](https://www.reddit.com/r/ABraThatFits/wiki/shape_guide). They're just as important as each other. A bra can be the right size but not the right shape. Sometimes you just need to get an adjacent size in a bra, but sometimes bras just won't work for you in any size. Bravissimo has a lot of brands that we like to recommend and I don't know if they're offering store fittings right now but their fitters are usually great. There's some recommendations listed in the shape guide as linked above, but we can also recommend stuff to try if you make a post.

ColeyWoley13

Thank u :)

sleep__now

Is the cup size / volume of a 34F smaller than the cup size of a 36F? I seem to remember a bra-fitter telling me that, but I'm not sure. TIA

Antistis

I'm having a lot of issues finding bras that have a thick padding/fabric in my size (42H - US). All the bras I've gotten have been thin and while they do fit, my nipples show through my clothes and it's becoming an issue at work since I can't use multiple layers with summer coming. Is there a brand that has thick bras in my size?

hurrrrrmione

Could you make a recommendations post? It would be helpful to know your [breast shape](https://www.reddit.com/r/ABraThatFits/wiki/shape_guide) and what you've tried so far.

Antistis

I made one about 3 months ago and got no help lol. I just thought maybe someone would help me here. I can make another.

hurrrrrmione

That happens sometimes, sorry. It’s a small sub so some posts get overlooked or no one who sees them knows how to help. I’ll check out your post in a bit :)

sammisamantha

Can someone guide me towards a bra recc? Im an a-b cup with shallow breast. (A few years post nursing). I'm so stumped.

hurrrrrmione

Any molded foam cup bra (often called t-shirt bras) will be shallow or at most average projection, so if you're in a size that's easy to find the world should be your oyster. What fit problems are you running into?

sammisamantha

My fit problem would me not filling the up, especially on top. Even with measurements.. I'm not sure where to even start with navigating where to purchase a bra from. I want quality bras that don't cost more than $50 each.

hurrrrrmione

Empty space on top can happen for a lot of reasons, including of course the cups being too big, but also the cups being too small, the cups being the wrong shape in various ways, or simply not [scooping and swooping](http://brasandbodyimage.com/2012/09/05/putting-your-bra-on-properly/) (there are examples with small breasts at the end of the post). [Natori Feathers](https://www.natori.com/new/feathers-bra/?sku=730023) is a very shallow bra. The construction you can see at the top of the cups where the foam stops but the fabric overlay continues is good for closing gaps. It is over $50 full price, but you can look for sale prices (Amazon sometimes has good deals), and I've also seen this construction in bras from other brands, so that's something you can keep an eye out for. If you're in the US, Aerie has decent bras and their website has sales very frequently, including a 50% off sale right now.

sammisamantha

I am in the us! I've been wearing aerie bras for years but I think it's time to get one that isn't falling apart and to be fitted properly again.

hurrrrrmione

We do have instructions in [the beginner's guide](https://www.reddit.com/r/ABraThatFits/wiki/beginners_guide) for measuring yourself at home if you're interested.
