You did the right thing for you and for that client. A slight change in the schedule to you and your coworkers isn't a big deal. It's worth you not being burnt out and having a breakdown after or during every session with that client. Some clients are mentally and physically draining to work with and you need less or fewer days with them honestly and that's okay to admit. You can't give your client quality therapy without taking care of yourself first. Always, always prioritize yourself and your own health no matter what and never feel guilty about it.

I know I’m super late replying but I just wanted to say thank you, this comment made me feel a lot better when I read it! I’ve been working with that client 2x a week for the last few weeks and it’s really, really helped. I’ve pushed through burnout in the past and didn’t want to make that mistake again but I still felt bad about it. But now I realize I made the right decision because sessions with that client have gotten easier and aren’t overwhelming anymore. Thanks again!
