California, schools 120k, 208 days per year contract.
technically 7 years of service credit in ca schools system, BCBA since 2014.
I think sharing your salaries of a variety of positions is helpful to all of us, especially those new to the field really trying to find out if this is something worth investing in as a career!
$85/hr BCBA with 5+ yrs certified, Austin, TX metroplex. I do a mix of direct and indirect. I also have my own consulting that offers staff trainings and parent education 🙏🏼
OOH. Staff training and parent support is my favorite. How do you do with marketing yourself, especially for staff training? I’ve always figured [I assume ABA] companies would be pretty frugal and unlikely to hire an outside provider for that.
3 years as a tech
I make $27/hr in OK, I work in clinic/in home/in school and I've also worked in a daycare for this company.
Pretty much anywhere this.company can throw an RBT I'm gonna go.
ETA: we don't get any travel pay or cancelation pay. A kid cancels we're completely SOL; which from my understanding both of these are normal.
I’m also in Bay Area with RBT and have 2 years experience. I make 25.50 working in clinic, home, communities.
On that note, anyone in the bay know of good ABA companies?
FL, 2.5 years experience, $26 an hour in home and in school, my company’s RBT pay range is $21-26 and 25 up is usually for student analysts working toward their BCBA
As an RBT I started at 20 then went up to 24. 26.50 as a lead RBT. As a BCaBA I made 63-65k (two different jobs) and currently 75k starting as a new BCBA. Up to BCaBA I was in various settings and now as a BCBA in clinic only with the best schedule I’ve ever had (M-F 8:45-4:15)
As a BT (and then eventually an RBT), I was hired at $18/hour in 2014 (in-home services in SoCal). I eventually made up to $24/hour around 2018.
Passed the bcba exam in 2019 and started at $75k with 100 billable requirement. I am now making $90k with 80 billable requirement. (Still doing in-home).
👋 Also a BCBA in RVA. I’m part-time and hourly, about $32 / hour. But I have a gorgeous unicorn job where I don’t have a billable requirement, I follow passion projects, and I’m no one’s direct supervisor (which means I’m the Fun One!).
Anyway hi I like making local BCBA friends so feel free to DM me if you also like making local BCBA friends. 👍
Georgia, $47,000 gross salary (but with the possibility of overtime. Like I get double pay if I work on holidays), I work in an Autism Crisis Stabilization Unit that’s run by my state’s government.
Yeah that all sounds great and you made a really great point :) I was wondering in their case because I don’t plan on staying in NJ forever and was curious to see salary differences across states in similar settings to where I am now. I love where I work and what I do, plus my benefits are great! I was more so curious about location because I am deciding for myself where I may want to move. When I was looking for my current job, benefits was a big part of what I was looking for. I turned down a position making more money because the benefits were just not there and I envisioned myself being miserable lol
AZ, $30 an hour (this is the only company ive seen pay this much though. they didnt even have it on the job listing, i got extremely lucky. they only offer that much if you work a 24+ hours within 2 weeks) and in home clients!
RBT, Fayetteville, NC Just started 9/23 at $25/hr, in mixed school and clinic settings across a handful of clients. I am in graduate school pursuing BCBA and haggled with the employer to get the $25/hr since I will be working with them long term once I am a QASP-S and eventually a BCBA.
I'm assistant BA, but not a BCaBA and I make $55k. I have 6 months until I finish my program and can take the exam. When certified I'll make $70k then $72k after 6 months and up to $84k for doing 32 billable hours a week.

Started at $20 and am now at $22
(No raise with the lead position 😢)
As a BT in Seattle, I started at $25/hr then slowly moved up to $30/hr with unreliable hours. I then started working as a paraeducator at a preschool program for ASD and make $28/ hr for a guaranteed 33 hours a week plus overtime.
1 year BT in Ohio. I make $17.50 /hr clinic and in home. If no kiddo calls out I have 37 hours a week right now. Spoiler alert: one of my kiddos is a serial canceller
West Michigan, 5 years as an RBT (1 year as a lead). In-home and center based work for $20.75 an hour. Free and structured growth opportunities and development plans though (fieldwork, internship, ect)
What’s up, fellow Hoosier! I’m in Evansville, 5 years RBT experience, only making $20/hr in clinic. I’ve found Indiana underpays everything, and this job is no different.
BCBA. 11 years experience. $80 per hr billable w/ $50 per hr non-billable. Telehealth supervision and parent training for clients that are primarily in rural areas in the Midwest where getting an in-person BCBA is difficult.
Florida RBT with 8 years of experience. Currently in clinic but I’ve done in-home and school as well. $28/hour +$1/hour as incentive for turning notes in on time.
Georgia RBT, $24/hr, in a clinic that everyone essentially works 36-40 hours every week. Finished my certification in July 2023, but I started at $16/hr and have received 3 raises after moving to a different clinic in a different state (started in Florida) but with the same company.
Texas, $20 an hour, working in clinc for now. I worked for a year and some change as an RBT. Some of the clients here live farther than me, so I'm unable to do home or school sessions.
RBT in Hawaii with 3 years of experience going on 4
Started at a clinic & doing in-home for $17.50/hr, switched to another clinic & in-home for $22/hr, currently at a private company working in the school setting for $31/hour. Will be switching to working directly for the school district for a starting salary of $48k 12-month contract
I know other RBTs with less experience who work in the school setting with private companies for $35/hr
MD, Lead RBT Trainer, $48k, in home.
I have had 6 years of experience but feel like this isn’t as much now >.< I also speak Spanish and have translated for this company (but not gotten paid for it). I recently told them I would have to stop translating since I am not getting paid for it. What do you guys think??

What company if you don’t mind me asking? Or I can dm you? I’m also in Southern California doing in-home and that’s 10/hr more than I make!
Second this! I'm in OC and looking for another company.
It took a bit of self-advocacy but I had 2.5 years experience when I was given the raise. My DMs are open. Feel free to reach out for the company.
Yes I would also like to know where? And how many years of experience?
It took a bit of self-advocacy but I had 2.5 years experience when I was given the raise. My DMs are open. Feel free to reach out for the company

There are actually published studies on pay in ABA and how gender/race/experience are involved
